  • hypocrite

  • this fucking chimp never deserved this prize.....

  • On another note..... Hey its Will Smith!!! XD

  • Its kind of sad being president. People keep thinking he has all the power to do whatever he wants but in reality he has almost the same power as the next guy except to him it seems more convenient to do so. I mean the fact that you can call an airstrike, send troops to hot spot, and etc. but you can't close down 1 freaking prison makes this system very constricting. And as a result people can just criticized you for so many things even though you are trying to hard to please them.

  • fuck obama this man should be put in jail he has done nothing but cause trouble

  • Comment removed

  • You can change the world with the same MIND SET that ruined it in the first place!

  • @ThaJediMarketer obamas mind set is right, but than again he only has 1/3rd of the power to make changes ;) thats not enough, because the rest of the idiots just fight against each other and also fight for who ever can put more money in their wallet.

  • it is really ironic....... a winner of a Nobel peace prize is gonna start another war very soon.

  • But he didnt take us out like he promised you sheep. Dont blindly follow people that destroy your freedoms you sheep.

  • Boy....they must be handing these peace prizes out like candy.....

  • Love the speech after 29:50 - very apt

  • All those who think Obama didn't deserve the prize, would you prefer to have Bin Laden alive and healthy and plotting more 9/11's? Would you prefer to have the Taliban in Af-Pak and secret islamic terrorist cells in your own countries grow stronger every day? Just because Obama headed the war on terror does not mean he's a war monger himself. To get rid of the scum, you have to step into it.

  • @andysonline You do realize we financed and propped up osama. im more worried about what "our" government is capable of

  • @Drunkeroc That was then. America's made a mistakes with its foreign policy for sure. But to say you shouldn't do anything to counter what it has spawned is just too dangerous. I know what you're saying and I don't reject that. It's just that the world isn't perfect. You have to take unpleasant steps to set things right.

  • Come out of your fairy-tale worlds and accept that blood has to spilled sometimes. It's unfortunate that innocents are killed every once in a while but what has to be done must be done.

  • Is this a joke? What does Obama know about peace?

  • Anyone think this peaceful guy will sign a 7 year peace treay with Israel?

  • Your royal high what?

  • BLAME ROTHSCHILD GROUP, OBAMA IS A JUST PUPPET OF ROTHSCHILD EMPIRE

  • He should have won it this year, not 2009. But he won it, so deal with it. This isn't a liberal bias because its Norway not America

  • @SoyunSerSuperior : Maybe your moral Value is totally different of the people with real moral value.

You maybe think that you have in your pockets us$100 dollars and when you go to the market you are sorprise that what you have had is a Counterfeit money for your whole live but you still think that the mayority ot the people are the one that have the fake ones.

  • makes me think of 1984.

    -war is peace

  • When they heard this PEACE prize, the whole World was ANGERED!

  • if only we had a democrat for president...then maybe our troops could see some peace for a while.

  • Wow. Who would have thought that someone could win the most sacred peace prize in the world based on their "promises" and not their actions. He continually lied/delayed ending the wars, kept Gitmo open and surged troops. I guess being the first black president is all that matters in this case

  • 31:00 Will Smith

  • A fine speech: "A call to arms is not a call to cynicism, but a recognition of history; the imperfection of man; the limit of reason." President Obama deserved this award in 2009 for renewing the faith of the world in the promise of peace, and the hope of international cooperation and multilateralism. And, in 2011, after his Libyan campaign, I am glad to see that the pursuit of humanitarian aims by multilateral means, is being fulfilled.

  • Donkeys reward Donkeys

  • Colonel Gadafi refused to accept so call US "demoNcracy" in his country, then you american shit armed "rebels" of Libya with the help of terrorist organisation called NATO with false cheating propaganda and have almost killed Gadafis entire family including himself and destroyed half of his country. Now you (US) will charge the"rebels"for gaining their freedom with you help in the form of the OIL, the rest is known to the world. Obama, the Nobel peace prize winner - what irony. RESPECT TO GADAFI

  • This was a wonderful speech!

  • is this a TV joke program or sth?

  • So ya'll haters, for this particular year, who was more deserved? Answer that 1st!

  • Gaddafi, Kissinger, and Mother Teresa have all won the Nobel Peace Prize. It's been devoid of value for decades. That being said, I like this speech very much.

  • @Jonmad17 *I meant Yasser Arafat. No idea why I said Gaddafi.

  • KADAFI next nobel piece prize...

  • look at 3what i found in my cereal box, a nobel peace prize.

  • Nobel lost its credit years ago when it gave Kissinger the peace prize. He answered it by sending 250.000 extra troops to Vietnam.

  • all of u shut up!!!! he inherited this war and policies are nt jus put into place but have to go thru a system and thou he is the president, this a democracy! shut up...must of u who point fingers have done nothing to help or make ur community better! shut up and make a positive change.....peace does nt start with the president u fools...it starts with us!!!!!!!!

  • You know what I found out...GHANDI of all people...never won the frikin PEACE prize lol.....I mean what does that really say?

obama is such a hollywood president

  • @mbenzsl2000 Actually, ghandi was supposed to get the peace price in 1948, but he was killed before he could recieve it so that no prize was given that year.... look it up

  • @mbenzsl2000 AND he was nominated 5 times through his life

  • @gladkaka I know he was nominated...but that doesnt really make it any better, lol.

  • Yeh is the George Clooney of Washington which I did not Vote for !

  • @mbenzsl2000

The people who run the committee today were not even born when Ghandi lived, it's not their fault that Ghandi was not endowed with a prize. Don't discredit Obama winning because Ghandi did not win, Ghandi didn't need a prize to be realized as a great man. He made his mark and am sure anybody who went to school knows who he is.

  • @mbenzsl2000

Reading the comments in here, it seems like he was going to receive it but was assassinated before he could.

  • hi love

  • it's not like obama was happy to get this prize. he knew everyone would react, how the top commenters on this video are reacting. i can't imagine the difficulty he must have had to get up there and accept an award he didn't think he was worthy of. i hate that he was put up to it.

  • @onlygiiiirl well fuck that prick...I don't give a damn about his stupid little feelings.

He promised peace and policy change in the middle east, promised to close Guantanamo bay and bunch of other things before elections and took a u-turn after he got elected like a weasel that he really is. He is a corporate puppet....well to sum up everything...he is Bush2.0

And fuck you too for not realizing that....it's because of morons like you these weasels can get away with anything.

  • fail..!

  • 36 people don't have a Nobel peace prize

  • norwegians don't know shit the live in a rosa happy world, so they thought a black president deserves peace prize

  • Obama didn't inspire peace, he inspired death and war.

  • I understand all Nobel prizes are a joke. (pass it on)

  • dont you love it when random things fall into your lap,......like the nobel piece prize

  • If Obama can get Nobel Peace Prize.. My shit also more deserving than him.

  • Obama is man who supports violence and wars in Iraq,Aph, South China sea, yellow sea, Taiwan strait. However Norwegian award a peace prize for this man who stirs around war everywhere in other countries by killing other people during bombing and gun firing. No wonder norweigian like,Anders Breivik who learn from Obama by killing innocent people in his own country so that he can be put into consideration by Norwegian Government for Nobel peace prize like Obama. What a joke by Norwegian.

  • what has obama done to deserve peace prize? is it because hes the first black president in america? does that make peace? way to go norway..

  • Trolling. Has to be trolling.

    *Sob*

  • jesus christ he didnt do anything, doesnt deserve it

  • wat kind of thing that Obama got the Nobel Prize

  • What has he done to promote peace? Keep US troops in the Middle East?

I've just lost all the respect i had for this prize!!

  • Bush might as well have given this speech, that would have made just as much sense. Who decided to give the Noble Peace Prize to a guy that was basically going to continue every criminal and warmongering policy of the Bush-doctrine?

  • nobel prize... what.

  • Obama: As a modern day peacemaker, it is vital that we set forth on the path to peace with a heavy bombing campaign, preceded by extensive use of armed "drones". Civilian deaths from the collateral effects of my actions are something I take great pride in as a peacemaker, because it proves, beyond the shadow of any doubt, that I am a pioneer in the art of peace. Make no mistake about it: I am one serious badass, muthafuckers. I am packing heat that would make you piss your pants. Dig?

  • Apparently, in Sweden, Peace = War?

  • Maybe the most undeserved prize in the history of time

  • I wonder, in the past ten years, has a better speech been given?

  • @joshatkins94 talk and speech are cheap. It's action that's what count and so far stupid Obama have not done anything to deserve this tainted "peace" prize.

  • ¿why?... i just dont get it

  • Can someone tell me WHAT Obama has done so far to deserve a Nobel Peace Prize? Did he speak against wars and violence? Did he bring home all the American soldiers who are around the world killing people? Did he say "NO" to the war in Libya? He was so proud to tell Americans "We killed Bin Laden". Can you imagine Gandhi (a real Nobel Peace Prize) talking with satisfaction about someone's death or sending soldiers to wars saying that "it is necessary and humanitarian"? I am speechless

  • 31:46 Why?

  • Fantastic speech, sure. "We do not have to live in an idealized world to reach for those ideals that will make it a better place." He truly captivated the meaning of human progress, and justice, in this lecture.

But... did he meant Guantanamo torture, the murder of Osama, or the 61 people OTAN left to die in starvation, in the Mediterranean sea?

Many decent citizens... think he should return the prize, or it be claimed back by the nobel comittee.

[I hope my comment is not deleted]

  • I wonder what these clowns think of him now that he sent a hit team in to kill Bin Laden

  • Obama for a Nobel "peace" Prize??? A US president gets the "peace" prize... 2009 was an important year for me. I realized that the Nobel prize is nothing but a "prize". Mr. Obama, whom are we going to invade or kill next? Of course its justified, otherwise we would not kill, right? There is always a reason behind it... This reason makes us sleep good at night...

  • 0:40 why does he just include Norway randomly?

  • @MibixRecordings : because the Nobel Peace Prize is in Norway, you idiot.

  • The Nobel price have no moral value anymore. This world is totally manipulated.

  • @SoyunSerSuperior Obama deserves this prize trying to make peace and bring our troops home. BUSH doesn't deserve anything but his ass kicked for throwing us into the Iraq war, destroying young americans lives and wasting our time. Everyone that talk shit about Obama forgot that He didn't put us in this position It was BUSH with all that bullshit tax brakes for ten years. if u dont agree with that and that is a fact then u and all the people that voted for bush is sadly retarded

  • Barack Obama doesnt deserve the Nobel Peace Prize he hasnt done anything to even be considered to have it the only reason he was given it is cos he is a black guy

  • this man always wins through his speeches never his actions

  • What about the Alien Disclosure??? When are you going to tell us??

  • good speech but bad actions

  • give obama a nobel peace prize then bomb libya xD

  • i guess they give peace prizes to anyone nowadays.

  • Let's discuss perspectives.. /watch?v=7jHe5OjAm_E

  • @tairaak First of all you should stick to the subject, and that was your argument with the guy down there. His comment of course, and you are an idiot for calling him an idiot. Secondly, obviously you never heard of political satire. Thirdly, I didn't correct you on grammar; I corrected you on capitalization skills, moron. Forth, you got your ass owned again! Fifth, you should apologize to the guy who you called an idiot, because you're the idiot!

  • @Mummificationify this is such an ignorant comment i almost hate to dignify it with a reply. but i have to because to put it quite simply, you're an idiot.

  • @tairaak Learn to refute and defend your point of view before you call someone an idiot, and because you didn't know that logical reasoning, you're the idiot.

  • @Zenome if you dont see the idiocy in comparing President Obama to a Grand Wizard of the KKK then you're the one with the deficit of logical reasoning. go back to playing with your calculators and leave the "penetrating" comments to people worth debating against.

  • Obama and that Nowegian love each other. Watch their eye contact. Lol

  • NORWAY SUCKS.

  • I hoped that Nobel Prize cannot be sold or bought.. Obama just change things..

  • Nobel price to OBAMA!! It is a joke!!!!

  • There are so many people around the globe that unlike Obama acutally do something to better the world.

  • @hxasmirl There too are a lot of peacefull people, like me, who appreciate him. The only thing is that we don't bark ; we have a life, and we answer Here !, each time he asks for us. And he knows that ! That's all ! If i may ... don't you, too much, trust hearsays ... and have a good night (or Tuesday !). Cordially,

  • First black President? Have a Nobel Price as a bonus!

  • Do I believe that he deserves the Nobel Peace Price?: No, but this speech was eloquently given and I support the war in Afghanistan.

"For make no mistake: Evil does exist in the world. A non-violent movement could not have halted Hitler's armies. Negotiations cannot convince al Qaeda's leaders to lay down their arms. To say that force may sometimes be necessary is not a call to cynicism -- it is a recognition of history; the imperfections of man and the limits of reason."

  • 36 minutes of speech?

  • Yes good speech, but there is so much that we don't know what these type of people do behind the scenes.

  • With Chevron gas fill-up, Nobel Peace Prize and Doctorate; limited copies of the Nobel Peace Prize; first come first serve: No guarantees in anything, your unbalanced checkbook could become much worse, oil spills, and foreign intrigue could follow.

  • But he has done something in his position noone did, he has questioned for example consumation as you said ranwow, the war in iraq (before and after it) and the israel-palestina conflict. He has done what he could do to unite people in US and the world, talked to leaders etc. He does what he can now for education and healthcare. All of these above necessary to maintain peace within and outside the country. Sometimes little of everything is better than much of one thing.

  • what is justice?

  • WAR??? o___o???

  • What a disgrace.

  • Wait why does Toby Keith need headphones for translation? And why is he there? min 34:26 on the right side wearing a swede jacket and jeans.

  • @trevizo64 you have a gift my friend..

  • They gave the prize to East Timor's Jose Ramos Horta while his country was still under brutal occupation by Indonesia. A few years later (partly due to the helpful profile of the Peace Prize) East Timor won their independence.

If the prize gives Obama even a slight helping hand in re-engaging the world with diplomacy, then it will be worth it.

  • you cant even start comparing between Obama and Jose Ramos Horta, Jose Ramos Horta is a peace activist in East Timor since 1976, basically Jose Ramos dedicated his life for peace, after majoring international laws, peace studies and human rights laws.

I don't see Obama's country under any brutal occupation, unless you include the crise in the economy a brutal attack, which basicaly should be blamed by the autorities for creating a nation that it's moto is "Consume, Consume and Consume"

  • @stefbren true... the Indians can rightly complain, as can many others. But putting Cuba and Iran on your list doesn't help your case. This is the point, the Iranian protesters are asking for democracy and human rights, not because they are under the influence of the US, but because these are UNIVERSAL values. When Romans and Nazis invaded territory, they kept it. Whereas the US gives it back TO THE PEOPLE. Contrarily, the US tries to impose democracy and human rights (the will of the people)

  • [continued] grew up under its cultural influence, and grew to love it, much like Roman provinces grew to like Roman conquerors, the very language you speak is testament to that along with the rest of former european roman territories. America has devised a genius plan, pretend to impose democracy, where in fact it is democracy on America's terms. Italy is a democracy but we would never dream of displeasing AMerica, not in a million years, You have army bases all over the land for pete's sake.

  • First off, I'm not American, but favourable to the empire like you (I'm Aussie). Romans never gave anything back, and they never gave democracy to people who weren't ethnically Roman, they ruled their empire as dictators do. The reason the US is different is because there is no "ethnically American" - but rather "ideologically American". They don't want to impose American rule, but Democratic rule. ie. Invade Iraq and then buy their oil - v. strange for an empire wouldn't you say?

  • They are an empire, but a very different kind... a multicultural microcosm of the world, they want to "impose liberalism" which is a bit of a paradox in itself. The point being, yes the Cuban government may not like the empire, but I don't think most Cuban people feel the same way.

  • Iran and Cuba are perfect examples among a long list of CIA intervention into a contry's politics in order to install an economically favourable regime.

Those who have committed the worst crimes against the people of Hiroshima and humanity by using nuclear weapons should not be the ones to win a prize and enjoy the right of veto.

  • I agree the situation in Cuba as of today is not acceptable.

  • So they get a veto... since when do countries even get a vote in how the empire runs the world? hmmm... since the US overthrew the old colonial system. As for Japan, an ugly end to an even uglier war. The coulple hundred thousand dead in Hiroshima and Nagasaki put an immediate end to a Japanese army who had killed millions (mostly Chinese). Anyway... I hate defending all US actions, they do plenty wrong, but I'd still rather them be running the world than any of their contenders!

  • Well we agree on this, I don't want no dumb muslim rule. OR any other religious fanatics, unfortunately the majority of America is deeply bigot and to be in politics you have to pose as a dumb dipshit. sorry for assuming you american...romans weren't quite as bad as you picture them, you should watch Life of Brian :)

  • Truly agreement worthy of an international UN conference! As for the Life of Brian - great movie.

"Apart from Aquaducts, roads, education.... What have the Romans ever done for us?"

  • Yeah brilliant.

  • "Freedom isn't free, it costs fol like you and me, and if we don't all chip in we'll never pay that bill, and if you don't throw in your buck o' five who will?..ooh yeah, freedom costs a buck o'....fiiiiiive yeah"

  • sanitation

  • ..AND do yourself ana american favour, READ HOWARD ZINN, READ NOAM CHOMSKY, or even just watch South PArk! the American who doesn't know why his country is bad type of american is frankly no longer bearable.

  • I've read Chomsky... and watched South Park... and for the second time, I'm Australian... not American. I know why they are bad... but I also know why they are good. I agree with Obama, that on balance, the US has been a force for good since its domination of the world.

  • That is for future generations to determine. I think we talked about how American History is covered in the blood of mass murders and genocide. The difference between the roman and americans is Americans kill cause "they believe in freedom" and look good on tv. But when we talk numbers, how many millions did America slay?

  • Unfortunately, the history of many countries is stained with the blood of mass murders and genocide. My own country has a dark history involving genocide, and this is a tiny country with no world power. I think bloodshed and war has been the norm for all of history, and still is. But at least the US wrote a law for the world forbidding it, even if they are the main offenders. They are the first great step in the world's evolution towards global peace.

  • Yeah. Agreed, and it produced the minds responsible for South Park, its pinnacle of freedom of speech. ha

  • I know a thing or two about your country, my wife's an aussie...

  • Ahh... you Italians... always stealing our women and our World Cup chances. jk :)

  • Guilty as charged, really sorry about the world cup by the way!

  • Only a true leader is able to reckon the most clashing concepts equally and still requardless of persuasion execute accordingly, logically

  • @stefbren - Why can't they be the moral regulator? It is easy for you to say all political systems are equal whilst living in a democracy. The monks in Burma and the popular protests in Iran were asking for human rights, so their government killed them. If the greatest power in the world (the US) wasn't a democracy, the world would be much worse than it is. The US isn't blame free, but be careful what you wish for.

The US empire is the worst empire accept for every other that preceded it.

  • Obama just won the Nobel Beast Prize! For what? For continuing Dick & Georgy's Global War of Terror!

The Nobel Prizes shall never hold the respect it once had...Sad!

  • H I P O C R I T E

  • Shooter, that may very well be so, but to "justify" war on the grounds that there exists "evil" out there is rather common demagogic practice of the kind we're being fed by any other fundamentalist christian or muslim. There exists a reason why this people out there are angry and want to take America down, so while we can't expect the commander in chief to make apology after apology on that particular "arena", he should have gad the decency to turn it down.

  • you have understand that was neither the time nor the place for such an apology. american's on the left are the first to point out that much of the trouble we're in is a result of 50 years of really poor US foreign policy. however much of that was not due to the selfish acts of an evil empire but rather the tactics of a young republic trying to win a cold war without it turning into an all out world war.

mistakes we're made, and i hope we've learned from them, but was is hell.

  • And most important of all Iran -

1953 - The CIA orchestrated the overthrow of

    democratically elected Mossadegh and

    restored the Shah to power.

  • That's interesting Stefbren, because American conservatives always complain that Obama apologizes for everything that America has done and will do...

I guess the world doesn't see him that way. Amazing that the American right wing may get that wrong.

Obama doesn't fool me with his nice words. He simply cannot reconcile this prize with his actions.

  • Yes stefbren, let us blame everything on the US; everyone knows every other nation is guilt free. America is culpable for a great deal of transgressions. Yet there isn't any singular country that has done more or given more for humanitarian causes than the US. I have great respect for Europeans and their immense contribution. But, get over your superiority complex and realize many of the world's ills is traceable to you.

  • LIAR, DEMAGOGUE, TRAITOR. Harold Pinter will be turning in his grave, poor world.

  • I personally think he should have turned it down, that would have shown a bit of character.

  • Fantastic speech. "We do not have to live in an idealized world to reach for those ideals that will make it a better place." I think he truly captivated the meaning of human progress, and justice, in this lecture.

  • @UndeadTheta

It is a speech and nothing more than that.

  • Comment removed

  • @UndeadTheta And the wars rage on..

  • @UndeadTheta

"truly captivated the meaning of human progress, and justice"

Oh my god YES, I totally agree with you, he has done it in style by bombarding LIBYA. We need people like you and comments like yours to make our planet a better place (like HELL!!!). Highly appreciate your comment from the bottom of my heart. :-D

  • @UndeadTheta Yes you're right, being the president of a country with the worst health care, illegal immigrations and highest child abuse.. It's absolutely not important to live in an idealized country, and it makes more sense to forget about these problems and start spreading democracy in other countries.. of course!

  • @UndeadTheta You're being sarcastic....right?

Word of advice, in order to properly show sarcasm online; you need to put ellipses (...) at the end or some in the middle and put a *sigh* or whatever...

  • Lead us, Mr. President!!!!!

Into a better future for humankind !!!!!

  • Good speech!

  • i agree... there are limits 2 reason .. unfortunately
