I used to live in Roanoke (grew up in BOCO) This song is amazing! He covered some ground in this song! Star Country, Corned Beef & Co., Valley View Mall, Wal-Mart, Texas Tavern, Sheetz, Hollins Barber Shop, Famous Anthony's, even the Mill Mountain Star. There is a lot to be said for his detail! He loves his city. MEMORIES! Thanks for bringing me back to Roanoke in song! HAHA awesome!

Also those bumpkins saying Roanoke is safe? Compared to what? Just because you don't have a huge gang issue does not remove the fact that Roanoke VA has been and still is on the the top 10 for cities under 1Million people for various types of assaults, spousal abuse, child neglect, drug abuse, alchohol abuse etc...so before you go preaching the values of a small-ish city, do some research first. Having said that, its not a bad city and there are still some very good people down in the Star city.

@milltown420 why? that is a very discontented and judgmental statement imo. roanoke is very pretty we are right next to the AT, we have excellent culture and music...? a lot of heads hehe cheap ones ;) low crime rate. population comparable to Denver but with beautiful weather what's not to like? if one is not happy in Roanoke it is not due to their surroundings. i mean this fella is VERY off key and im not defending his clearly very serious professional level song here. but it is what it is.

So funny! As a Northside grad and someone who frequented Walrond Park since I only lived a mile away..I love the references! I also remember Peters Creek before Sheetz was ever there..and before it went past Melrose. I also remember life before Valley View was ever built...and Crossroads was packed! I remember when Hidden Valley High was built and the Cave Spring people were mad that their district was being split. I'm only 34, so Roanoke has grown a LOT in the past 15 years or so.

Class of 95' helped in Jr. high kids being allowed to wear shorts and for the Sr's being allowed to eat lunch outside & leave the premises. Seemed we were at the forefront of a lot of big decisions that got passed on through the years...lol. I can't even remember how many strikes we had..but it worked! =)
