Bobby thank you very much for your talk, it was good to listen what you said because you sound honest an true and I'm agree about do good things and I recognize some times I get negative energy about lot of wrong things happening around, Thank you again!!
And I know its cool that you let us get to know you better in your videos by telling us stories and stuff but come on dude, I need to know the secrets, i wanna be the next Jason Chan but first i need to know how on earth your creating such amazing art, I know its not all down to just being gifted coz if that were the case id be flying through PS no problem, I need to know the tricks that enable me to create a 5 hour pic in 5 minutes, and i dont wanna go to college to learn it, please help people
Im starting to get very VERY frustrated, ive been using photoshop for a solid 2 years but just recently decided to try and go pro with it, however, i feel restricted and not restricted by my capabilities, just restricted with photoshop. No matter how long i practice photoshop, my work never looks as polished as the art in this video and its because NO concept artist ever tells you the secrets, example, youve just talked about growing your hair and didnt even mention what brushes you use
how do you do that in photoshop where you have two windows of the same pic but everything u do on one shows up on the other i never used the feature so like i wouldnt know
Wow. Now that's the type of video that really makes me want to get my tablet out and begin drawing a random creature now at 15 minutes past 10 o'clock in the evening even though I get up at 6 : 30 in the morning. That's also something that seriously makes me call into question my future career choices.
Anyway it's a pleasure to hear you talk and joke every now and then. You are an awesome artist, please continue inspiring us all. :)
Hi Bobby, I did a marathon for Team In Training for the same reasons you describe in your vid. It changed my perspective on pain and suffering (waking up to run at 18 miles on a saturday at 6 am is painful, but nothing like dying of cancer, yeah?)
I want to say I truly respect what you are saying in this video. Great respect sir.
Dear Bobby, could you (or someone else ;) ) tell me what's happening after you added a "Levels" layer (from circa 11:26 to 12:40)?
I see that layer automatically gets the colors to black and white and you use it to paint "light" on Stitch.. But how? I couldn't figure out because when I click on that new "Levels" layer and start drawing nothing appears, nothing changes. :S
Oh please help me! I'm learning SO much, don't wanna stop now.. Thank yoouu! :D
It seems Bobby really didn´t use that adjust layer, just went to check it the light of the nose of sticht, because after that he cancel the adjust layer, and probably just press de "D" key to switch the colors to black and white.
this is a great video. i love this painting and thank u for the advice =) and ive done sumthing like subway sketch, i invited to go to the museum in manhattan with my friends to draw. and soon i wanna go to the zoo too! =D
I have the opposite view about the hair, u know. A couple of years back i had that long head-banger hair that used to pass my nipples. Then out of nowhere i just shaved my head now my hair is still rly short. That was kinda my way to say : You dont need to grow that long of a hair to be a Metal head if u dont feel rly confortable with it. And Metal is still my religieon but i feel free of a burden now ;)
awesome video, as a newbie, where can I learn the way of using different types of brush in photoshop, and how to use them where and when, is there are good tutorial on that? thanks
I am no Mister Chiu, but I believe I can answer :)
This is as far as I know a feature only available in Photoshop CS4. But you have your document, and on the top you have different layout specific buttons to the left. The second from the right, "Arrange Documents", in there you can press "new Window".
Now you have 2 tabs with the same document, and you can just click and drag the second one into it's own floater. And that's it.
You're a true Artist, and i'm not just talking about beeing able to draw or painting well but, you can really touch others with your words. Thanks for sharing this!
Anyway, It would be cool to see a detailed tutorial of this Stitch, he's awesome =]
this is great stuff, i wonder how do he manage to change opacity so quickly and what kind of parameters does the brush have? the way he works seems so... personal (to put it in some words) meaninng like, hes got everithing so well assigned to shortcuts..... i'm doing this next time!
Using a pressure-sensitive tablet pen, you can quickly change opacity by setting your brush to change opacity based on pen pressure. Most artists use tablets made by Wacom.
So, like, the harder you press, the higher the opacity is.
I've been watching your videos for a while, continuously experimenting with brushes and colors to get grip of this marvelous technique of yours.
Finally I've got it! I've got the sense of this sculpturing of shape with lo-flow brush, and it's amazing how shapes and volumes started to magically appear from my stylus! I was in nirvana while painting tonight, I am totally excited.
Thanks so much! ;) I'm not going to stop on this road. ))
you and me both man, but i cannot begin to say how helpful it was to watch this video. Two things I wish though: that he would say the exact tools he is using, and 2) for me to see the layers pallette so I can know when he uses a new layer. Other than that..........I thoroughly enjoyed this video and I WILL subscribe.
Why must you be in canada when I'm in the US? Lol I'd love to go to these sketchgroups, and that zoo one sounds promising. I'm in MN, though! maybe I can sneak by the border every weekend, haha!
You could do it anyway. Place an ad. It only needs to be a small one, in a local art store or sommat, then just go and do it once a week, and see if people join you. Go to somewhere like a subway, or just pick somewhere with life all around you. Parks are good too, especially towards summer.
I grow plants from all seeds I get, from anything I eat. They are great gifts and I hope that by every fruit tree, berry bush, etc I grow can one day help feed many people. I have been doing this for over 6 years now.
PS I just planted another 400 fruit tree seeds the other day. Pears, Apples, grapes, Apricots, peaches, black berries, etc.
I am actually thinking about donating my hair too. I live in the states but I heard about this charity group called "Locks of Love" (they have a website) that makes wigs for sick children. I've been growing my hair out for eight months, and I'm going to shave it all off anyway once the hot summer months arrive, so I figure why not?
Thanks Bobby, much appreciated. I'm sure the Massive Black workshop in Dallas is going to be crazy inspirational, and yeah..cut your kung-fu hair already! lol
the idea of taking initiative to do something for yourself reminds me of a line in batman begins when bruce was talking to alfred on the plane ride back to gotham: "people need dramatic examples to shake them out of apathy." unfortunately there are too many people who aren't as inspired and motivated as those of us who have found a passion or an outlet for the negative things in our lives. but i do agree with you about thinking globally and acting locally.
