I have a deep field poster in my room, and i cant honestly get over the fact how small, fragile and even irrelevant the human existence is. The idea that we are literally staring at the past in just fascinating, in a way makes me wonder how many (if any) other residents of the universe have looked up and just wonder...

Each image of each galaxy is existing in a different time. So if you travel toward one of the galaxies the images would change as if someone was painting a picture of the galaxy each day and sending it towards us. As you travel you would pass the images and they would change , becoming closer to what is going on now(the same now that you exsist in) but the now you are heading towards cannot be seen until you get there.

Technically yes.

The best way I can explain is say a star is giving off light and it takes that light ten minutes to get to earth. Well once we actually see that light, we are seeing light that is ten minutes old and we're only seeing what the star was doing ten minutes ago and not at it's current time.

Since it takes time for the light from galaxies and other objects to reach us, we're not seeing them as they are, but as they were.

Exactly, and another very interesting thing is that if someone was looking through a hubble telescope right now where those galaxies were situated, they wouldnt see the milky way. Our entire galaxy wouldnt appear to exist yet.

So if we could travel faster than the speed of light, then we could travel away from our planet, and as we got further and further away, the earth would appear younger and younger until eventually we would witness its creation. It would be just like rewinding a video.

A black hole is not really a hole. It's a super-dense object that has a gravitational field so massive that not even light can escape it.

The hubble ultra deep field found mostly fully formed galaxies, almost none of wich were undeveloped. Their could be more than a trillion galaxies in our universe.

We will probably never see the point of the big bang because at that point for about the first 400k years, the universe was opaque with gas and dust, it would be like trying to find a light through muddy water.
