@Soulrider2012 What this video and the radio show doesnt say, if that the ATF was looking for straw purchasers. Basically people who are giving money to buy legitimate guns for convicted felons are people who dont want the guns traced back to them. In a sense small scale gun running.

@gdbanks2007 thats stupid. no one in their right mind would ever do that. if a gun registered to you is found in the hands of someone who commits a crime, you can and WILL be held responsible for said crime. you would be charged with supplying the gun to a felon, being accessory to a crime, and possibly manslaughter if someone is shot. no one goes this route. its a lot easier and cheaper to buy off the black market. its also much safer; who's to say the gun runner doesnt turn you in

People buys guns in states with lax laws 5 or 6 at a time and then go to place with extreme guns laws like new york city and Washington D.C. and sell the guns for extreme markups to the unsavory kind. Also if you would have read the whole article, you would have seen where the ATF was interested in one law enforcement officer who purchased 5 AR-15 rifles. (continued)

A law in place to prohibit criminals from having guns is foolish. A criminal by definition is some who breaks the law and has little to no regard for law. Criminals aren't allowed to have guns in present day america yet there is probably countless numbers of armed criminals in your city as you read this. Critical thinking and common sense are wonderful tools

Taking away our guns does nothing to prevent murder or any other kind of crime. All gun control does is take guns away from law abiding citizens rendering them unable to protect themselves. @leefrank1990 In Vermont, you need no permit to carry a gun on your person. It has one of the lowest crime rates of the entire country. Switzerland, a land where EVERY able bodied male age 18 and over has to serve in the military and be armed, has one of the lowest crime rates in the world. This is clear proof that guns do not cause or increase crime, and in some cases, do the exact opposite.

I noticed that you said "does not cause or increase crime", which is a very accurate statement. Switzerland is very different from the US. In fact, Vermont is probably quite different from the major urban areas in the US. There are many factors that go into crime. Urban areas present a greater opportunity for crime due to the population density.

The BATF may be checking on possible straw purchases. Newly erected roadside advertisement signs are warning of the consequences of purchasing a gun for somebody else. I wonder how often this actually happens though ?
