  • 4 ppl. obviously never had a piece of that sweet sticky thing. lol

  • Now I see why Diamond refuse to let Sugafoot perform. He barely saying anything and is motionless. I understand he's near 70 but damn sang!

  • I just heard this spring about Sugar splitting off and forming his own version of the Ohio Players. I stumbled on the Skin Tight clip, and I must say that that was the tightest that I'd heard Skin Tight played live, because it was a problem even with the original line up. Sugar hit a lick with this move because the band sounds better than I've heard the Ohio Players in recent years, and they've got HORNS!!!!

  • This is "Sugarfoot's" Ohio Players. Diamond, Chet, Dortch and Beck are running the "franchise" Ohio Players. So there are two versions of the band running up and down the road. Just like the Coasters, Drifters, Platters, etc.

  • The motherfucking kings of funk. Honey is an awesome piece of work. Anyone who hasn't got this classic on vinyl needs to buy a deck and a copy off eBay quick. Vinyl is the only medium to listen to this on.

  • @neckus22 Thanks for that info...she was a very very hot chick...sweet and stickey..."

  • Honey is known for its very sexy cover photo. In this case, the model was Playboy magazine's October 1974 Playmate of the Month, Ester Cordet.

urban legend surrounded the song "Love Rollercoaster" that the girl on the album cover was attacked or killed near the studio and her screams are what we hear on the song. Like the controversy surrounding Paul McCartney's supposed death, this was a hoax; the scream was actually that of keyboardist Billy Beck

  • Sugarfoot had TWO strokes, unfortunately. The cats behind are young and I am glad they have respect for the Ohio Players music and REAL HORNS.....!!!!

  • yea man you are rite....real horns.........you can tell that they listened to the ohio players growing up.......how ever some of those guys are not as young, an are old school as well............i know the keyboard player on the right, hes played with p-funk and tina marie back in the day, guitar is from loose end, the bass player was a member of the ohio players back in the early 80's.........but how ever they do sound quite like the ohio players

  • Mrsmusiclover, I agree with you and the truth is neither of the groups are really the Ohio Players, they may play the songs, but they aren't the Players.

It's just not the same without Sugar playing the guitar in his unique style. So who's playing all the lead guitar solo's on Sugar's new album?

  • thats an old song on his advertisement from the 70s.........but your are right sugar's unique style of playing is greatly missed.........his new album is good........but hes not playing on its so it is most definate;y not the same as the 70;'s sound.....but good with a new flavor

  • I still love Sugar as well, but once again where's Chet who played guitar, where's Diamond on the drums and he is an original member, also the guy who played the congos, and why doesn't Sugar play guitar anymore?

  • well as i stated....he has had his own group for 4 years now....diamond has his own group.......as he did in the 80s with chet called shadow, and sugar carried on. was it still not op then?.......sugar had problem with his hand.......he still plays for fun , but not on stage....plays keyboard now.....diamond is a long time member but not original...1974.......wasent on any westbound recordings funky worm, pain, xtacy ect.........marshall and sugar are the only two originals left...

  • @mrsmusiclover Diamond was on the ecstacy album and you can tell from his style. Also are you saying that Greg Webster, the original drummer is dead now, by stating that Sugar and Marshall are the only originals alive? Holla back sista (smile).

  • @thumbsaloft Co-sign!

  • This isn't the real ohio Players, where's Diamond on the drums, and where's Chet on the guitar, also why isn't Sugar playing his guitar?

  • who r u? and where have u been......sugar hasent played guitar for over ten years..............there is sugarfoot and he went back and one their old bass players from the 80's.......he has his own group now..........sugarfoot and the ohio players........sugarfoot and marshall are the only 2 original ohio players left.......the other 2 satch and pee wee are gone on..........i know this because sugarfoot is my uncle.....he is a little older now, but the fans still love him as well.....GOD BLESS

  • Is Marshall Jones playing with Sugar's version of the band? Jones is the unsung hero of Funk bass playing. A lot of cats are playing Marshall Jones and don't know it. Sugar was simply the coolest front man out there.

  • also .........whos to say who op is any ways?..........when u see the other group performing without sugar (the lead singer on all the hits).....do you say thats not op as well..think about it?...when people ask them about him, they just say hes sick or in a nursing home or somthin....... but never the less, everbody still loves sugar, and he and his group still sounds good...he still continue to satify crow all over...that what matters..thanks and be blessed

  • Sugar is the bomb! saw them live back in the day at least 8 times.Early 80's actually was singing fire with them at small club in clearwater Fl.horn player Merv jumped off the stage and stuck the mike in my face.

  • Marshall was the man.

  • The ohioplayers were the baddest group ever!!!!

  • I love The Players My Dad is a original member Marshall Jones Bass Player They are one of the Funks Greats. This is from his son Kieran Jones aka EQ Productions

  • Your an orginal player. Mine used to play keyboards for the Gap Band back in the day but he didn't last long. Your lucky

  • long live Marshall Jones!!
