This is great, to see and hear Shawn Phillips do this song. I purchased Collaboration - the album this song is on, and instantly became a lifelong Shawn Phillips fan. What an excellent voice. Wow.
@atfatw Man, you are so pathetic. You don't need to answer me 2 times. Well, thanx anyway, I have a great life dude, don't worry about it. I'll see 'the old man' like you say again on friday and I'll enjoy it as usual.
@EricMarsan YOU are pathetic!! you dumby. you live at home rent free with your momma and don't even do chores. you lazy sissy poopypants suburbanite you!
Until "Ascent" grew on me, "Burning Fingers" was right at the top of my list, along with "Us We Are". I have loved it for decades, and yes, the studio recording is superb, but this version has become my favorite because of Shawn's "GREAT CHORDS" comment at the end ... which is oh so true!
Liez50. Perhaps you might mean:- "Ballade Of Casey Dies" off 'Second Contribution'..but Casey was not his son, just a friend the same age as him, living in Positano, Italy who went out to chop wood in a storm to heat the tiny house Casey and his very pregnant wife Diana lived in and lighting struck his axe. Sad but true....I & my wife Agna were there. - tai krige. south africa
I talked to a man once, who knew him well, a friend of his...he said Shawn was as genuine as his music projects...a spiritual man from another time and space...this has always been obvious to me, another gift of a Renaissance man, in our lifetime. The other one being
I have loved this song at the first time I have heard, this rare!Shawn you are a genius, and a so sympathic guy! From a fan of Quebec,Monteregie (see your show at Waterloo) and our photo is very good! xxx Nicole
I have a friend who shared a stage with Shawn and in his words, "One gets the feeling that he and his music are from another place and time neither here nor there nor then nor now but all those and more and beyond"....all I could say to that, and I had to say it silently cuz I was so blown away, was, Amen brother, amen to that.
