How far are you away from the tv when playing. I was told that you have to be at least 5 feet away when using a 42"hdtv as a computer monitor. I'm buying a 42" in about 2 weeks for my computer monitor for my room so I have to plan where I can put it.
@davidgaming95 so one can not plug the pc to the tv using an hdmi cable? why you are scare for? those that damage the pc? or the tv? From what I hear is pretty common to use your TV as a monitor, just plug hdmi and play! why not? let me know because I have a new 3d tv that I was thinking to use it for SKYRIM
Someone answer plz: I'm planning to buy a 42" 1024×768 HDR TV and play games on that, instead of my 1440×900 19" monitor. So i'm curious if my 42"'s dispay will be actually less detailed compered to my 19" monitor, and if it"s only magnifying the picture. I'm so confused.
For example: My computer won't be able to show as many ikons on the desktop, on the 42"TV screen that my 19" monitor?
I really want to plug my Gaming PC into my Samsung PS42A456P..... But im terrified about burn in :( It is a new TV, with burn in protection built in, but even so, I don't want to risk it :P
@kaosobsidian lcd is better quility than plasmas . think buddie why there cheaper than lcd's . Theres to much problems to list. one main problem is ghost burns.
No... A new Plasma is a fair bit more expensive than a new LCD (of the same model. e.g. Series 4 Samsung plasma vs Series 4 Samsung LCD). And modern plasma screens dont suffer from long term burn-in AT ALL( provided they are not abused of course), sure if a single image is left on the screen for an extended period of time it will be visible after the image is changed, however it washes out with in 10 minutes. I know, I have one!
@kaosobsidian well the NEW plasmas are better then before BUT they are not cheaper than lcds.they do HAVE shorter lifespan than lcds and are heaver wieght and more.only good thing is that they have richer colors in black and thats about it . but lcd leds took care of that . google whats better lcd or plasma . i always investigate in whats better in stuff i buy .
LCD LED's? Mate, LCD and LED are completely different TV's, I have no problem saying that LED > Plasma and LCD hands down, but LCD and Plasma are very similar, I believe Plasma has the edge over LCD because of the colour richness and black levels that you have also admitted to. Also... you said Plasmas were cheaper than LCD's... I said they werent and your last comment agreed? Lol, typo or change of mind? Fair enough, lifespan is less, but it is 10years easy. Ill have bought new LED by then.
so how do you know if you have a plasma with game mode? I have a 50 inch plasma samsung tv and i havent tried to play games on it i have heard so many bad things about doing that...so can you tell me how to know if my tv has a game mode?
When did you buy that plasma? was it recently? because if it was recently you might have one of the latest Samsung plasmas that just came out and they won't have burn-in problems unless you leave a static image for probably like 6 hours or so...
hi moonovice...well i bought my plasma on may this year...i am just a little scared to try playing games on it! It does have a game mode on it and also has burn in protection! I just want to know if anybody who has bought a plasma this year..has anybody had problems playing games on it!
Then that should be one of the very recent Samsung 600hz models. I'm pretty sure you'll be safe but I can't talk for personal experience since I don't own one, but I'm sure you'll be fine specially if you enable game mode.
Not anymore...but this video was filmed in 2006 so I would like to know if these guys have any burn-in on that TV since that should be an early plasma model.
ur sat so far away!! to get the full effect you have to sit close enough that the screen is the only thing u can see. Then you will have the true gaming experience
I pluged my pc to the tv and it worked really well but non om my games will open, im ussing s video. If you encounter the a similar problem, can you please help me! i tried 2 computers already and i had the same problem.
yeah basicly as long as you get a good tv with a good refresh rate its pretty much identical to a computer monitor... a really good way to kill 2 birds with one stone as well :P
bullshit. on larger screens plasma is superior. better dark tones, 0.001 ms response time and excellent general picture quality. btw if your plasma is susseptible to burns you bought a bad one. out of 7 million sold panasonic plasma screens 2 came back with burns :p
thats pretty neat, just be careful, its not hard to screw ur new investment like that, just make sure when your not using ur PC either turn your plasma off, or make sure you set a moving screensaver to come on after 5-10mins of non-use.
it doesn't work to play my pc games on my 42" plasma, i got an HDMI - DVI cable, and i link it together, it doesnt work! someone who can help?, i got vista :S

kaosobsidian 2 years ago
@kaosobsidian LED isn't really > LCD and plasma
the colors have a "clinic" effect due to the white backlighting.
It's much more expensive
Also plasma burn in is not even a con anymore since it like never happens anymore with new technology.
The only reason to buy a LED is to be cool and to keep up with newer technology (In other words utter bullshit)
So LED isn't really worth it IMHO, I prefer waiting for OLED's.

there should be a menu button on ur tv press it and there shold be a movie mode and game mode look for it

ok so by doing this then it should be safe to play then with no burn in?

putting it in game mode will not break your tv so it is safe cause my tv is 100% working in game mode when playing games
