@TTOMO Definitely. If you recall the French Habs call, there was someone being somewhat too excited by the goal. That man was injured Habs player Mario Tremblay, who would retire after that season, being an analyst for the Habs games, then being the team's controversial coach who put Patrick Roy of Montreal.
Rick Peckham was the Whalers TV announcer that year (and the best ever TV announcer for Hartford - currently with Tampa Bay - not like Hey Hey, Whadyasay John 'Foreskin' Forsland (currently with Carolina). This is not a Hartford feed. This is a feed from Hockey Night in Canada or some crazy shit like that
I remember this entire series as a classic, though it is rarely mentionned as such. Lemieux was incredible that year. Years later, when he helped the Devils eliminate the Bruins on the way to their first cup, I remember one of the NESN commentators expressing great surprise at the play of Lemieux. He had obviously not seen the Whalers-Canadiens series in 1986.

the announcer isnt a hartford guy. its ken wilson, the guy who would become the blues announcer and have "ohhhh baby!" as his trademark.

That is NOT Hockey Night In Canada. This game was done by Bob Cole...and trust me...that definitely is not Bob Cole.

I was kid and couldn't stop celebrating. By the way, Mike Liut was just as good as Roy in that series

Thank you for posting this legendary 1986 OT goal
Lemieux was the 2nd most important guy after Roy that year.
It was heaven... cause we hated Dineen, Francis, Verbeek and Liut

Verbeek wasn't on the Whalers until 4 years later.
