My Bloodhound is quite the singer, too. And for those who worry, this is about the only large breed on the planet with zero history of biting children. Bloodhounds are the coolest -- if you don't mind the slobber factor and goofy antics, there is no finer beast.

The dog has sensitive ears yes but does not cause him pain. Howling is a form of vocalization to locate one another in the pack. A dog/wolf will not howl in pain, if this were the case it would only target itself to be prey.

I have a 7 month old female bloodhound, and I'm trying to get her to sing along to the harmonica. She will yip a little but also gets a scaredy cat look on her face and runs away. In her cage, if you do it she turns circles and yips a bit but never really bays. Did your dog do that at first?
