The only reason he reviewed the Pokemon movie was because his fans were sending him requests around the clock about it, and his video game review was done as a challenge by the AVGN. Besides, his cut-off point is 1999, and he primarily reviews non-anime films and tv shows from the 80's and 90's. Any breaks in this are for special occasions, and nothing more.

I admit I haven't seen all of the episodes of Captain Planet, but I have heard for a long time about an infamous episode referencing AIDs & HIV. Which would be considered taboo to be mentioned on a kids show. Then again I can name other kid shows that got away with taboo contents, like the "One Beer" episode of Tiny Toons.

And I do agree with Nostalgia Critic's opinion on the gang violence episode even though it was trying to make a message on the matter.

Guys/Gals.. It's not like it was horrible of them to have an episode about AIDs... Teaching children while their young is nothing new or uncommon and may sometimes really help in the long run considering the kids of THIS era who think it's okay to have sex at 15 (I mean the heck...?).
