What an outdated statement the quiz for married couples, what about unmarried couples, same sex couples, single people etc,the concept of marrage is becoming outdated, this show was made before the PC brigade took over. You would not be allowed to make such a statement today.
She did indeed play a part in Boston Kickout... although died in act 1 scene 1! probably why you cant find a clip with her in! not the most glam parts in a film, but hey! Im trying to figure out who you are nuttybar.. i cant remember you. Michelle's my mum btw! Yep, Sam here on a friends ID as i dont have one myself. The lambourne title went about 21 years ago -Scholfield now!
i just did a google search for ..michelle lambourne .... and got a suprise .. can anybody confirm .. apparently she played a part in a movie called "Boston Kickout " she played the mom of phil...its a english film made in 1995 /97 ...
has anybody seen this film..i cant find a film clip with her in it ... just to see if it is correct because i know her personally ..
hey hondo,i meant i wish the clip could have went on a bit longer.Would be good to see a full episode.Takes me back to the days of TheWombles and tony blackburn...Does that sound sad or what...
Apparently Fred Dineage was a big influence on Steve Coogan in creating the Alan Partridge persona. You can see why in Fred's brief appearance after the title music.
In the HTV Wales area it was on at 5.15 on a Tuesday afternoon for the first few series then it moved to 3.00 on a Friday afternoon for the remaining series.
I was never fortunate enough to see this as a child living in a YTV area...I think they may have showed 1 or 2 but I'm not sure about the entire series.
crikey! i used to watch this on ATV Midlands at 5.15pm on a week day here in the UK during the 70's. never thought i would see those credits again. good old fred dineage. also great to see the anglia ident still attached. thanks.
I have 6 or 7 programmes from this series of Gambit, however the rest of the series was not kept in good condition and tapes could not be recorded

Peter Fenn used to play with his organ on this if i'm not mistaken. Dinenage,Lambourne, Benson and Fenn the dream team.

YTV did show it regularly. I remember it very well. Dear me, what a sad childhood I must have had!

Why was Gambit the quiz for MARRIED couples? Was a TV gambling-based quiz not suitable for anyone else?
hyperwhizzkid 4 years ago
Well... I guess married couples love to play blackjack a lot. :-) Other than that, to be honest, I don't really know.
gshowguy 3 years ago
I have on a DVD the first 2 episodes of that series of Gambit.

Quite correct misterloftus both Gambit & Sale Of The Century were voiced over by the late John Benson
darrowby1972 4 years ago
John was also the voiceover for the final couple of series of 3-2-1.

Always worth watching to see Fred Dineage belittling the contestants. Classic stuff and that great ident.

''And now - live from Norwich it's the quiz of the week''.
Bugger it's the wrong show. LOL.
Yes I know was Sale of the Century and voiceover man John Benson.

They never said 'Live', common misconception. Seems to trip off the tongue better though!

Didn't Merrill Heatter and Bob Quigley produced Gambit?
sugarbear522 5 years ago
They produced the US version of the show.
allenjeremy 5 years ago
In America, they did. This is the UK version we're looking at. ;-)
BTW, I noticed the cards on this version are the same as ours...
