this was the in 1999 Oct and it was a training mission with the USS Pearl Harbor. the reason i know i was on that ship when it happened S 5/11 15th MUE
I was on the USS Pearl Harbor in formation with the Pecos when this happened. Right after this accident happened, the injured survivors were ordered to board another Helicopter to be transported to the USS Bonhomme Richard because they had better medical facilities. Naturaly the survivors refused, but ended up going.
@charlesmansun not really, your pretty good at making yourself look ignorant. Your the kind of person that goes into a salon and kills people for no reason,
I was out fishing off the coast of San Diego this very day we could hear all the radio chatter on the vhf about boarding vessels from fictitious destinations (I guess that was part of the drill) then total silence on the radio. We figured they had finished up their drills or whatever they were doing then within the next half an hour we were buzzed continuously by helicopters fanning out around a large area searching for something, unbeknownst to us a chopper had gone down. Sad day for sure.
@Sm0keKusH42O I knew an officer who was on that helo when it crashed and he survived. He said they were wearing body armor so everyone was weighed down immensely and everything sank like a rock.
@JinKazama92 Pilots and co-pilots have been trained for hundreds of years to land on such small platforms, mainly military helicopter pilots because not every environment is going to have one. So while making it a bigger landing would make this easier, it would cost less money to build a smaller and more efficient transport helicopter than to either rebuild or strip down a whole military vessel. Just sayin'.
Who give fuck welfare riding lazy people who could never get a job in real world an accually produce something of real value. The muslims are going kill all of you once the one world economy takes effect 15 trillion and good by America.
I'm sorry to disagree but not the fault of the fence, they are there for a reason and around every flight deck. Even though you train as if real there still are safety factors into play like using the ships SGSI for angle and approach onto the flight deck. Pilot error indeed.
@16djoemann The are not fences, they are safety nets that are around every flight deck of Navy and Coast Guard ships.They are there to prevent people from falling off the side of the ship. it was the fault of the crew in the back and the pilots not properly communicating with the pilot on their position over the deck. The crash has nothing to do with a dumb place to put a net.
comments about the expense of the chopper? oi! these men are un-replaceable, the chopper can go screw itself its not the military piece that's important!
This was not an aircraft carrier.. this was the USNS Pecos (resupply ship). Aircraft carriers tend to be slightly larger.
This was a training mission with the SEALs (following behind in the RHIBs)... the force recon guys were set to fast rope down to the deck if they couldn't land on the deck but most never made it out of the CH-46, or if they did they were too far down to swim to the surface with all their gear on.
@xeusion did the pilot live? I use to fly n the back of these things all the time. Man this video sucks n a big way. I couldnt even imagine trying to get out. The confusion and disoreintation must of been crazy

@harrycom99 Turns out when you're in a tactical situation and assaulting an enemy ship there is no air boss telling you what to do. This was pilot error, but your analysis of the error does nothing but demonstrate your ignorance.
Well all aircrafts now have flight data recorders which records voices in cockpit and mechanical data i.e hydrolics engine status etc etc thats how they knew he was trying to show off
Can't believe how insensitive some people are with their comments.
I am a female pilot in the military and from time to time I have to land and train on this floating runways, landing on air craft carriers aren't the easiest and watching scenes like this just really makes me that extra careful.
This is a CH-46 Sea Knight helicopter used by US Marines. There were 18 on board and 11 survived. This happened in 1999 and it all happened because the bird came in too low, too fast, got hooked on the netting that ran around the outside of the USNS Pecos, and when the pilot increased RPMs to get unhooked it did not come unhooked and instead hurled the helicopter over the edge and into the ocean. It was a very sad event and a wakeup call for aviators and crewmen to get proper "ditch" training.

They're not "good men", they're American bastard imperialist fucks.
Seeing this always brings a smile to my face and makes me all warm and happy on the inside. These people would otherwise have killed innocent women and children.
@tannalv Suck my large U.S. Navy EOD Retired American cock!!!!,....if it weren't for OUR American fighting men and women YOU and all the other panzi ass Eurotrash countries that were occupied by Hitler in 1940 would be speaking German/Duetch,...you ungrateful Noweigian fuck!
@56panhead Wrong, so wrong. If it wasn't for the Soviet heroes, fascists would have tried to take over the world. Oh wait! Today fascists are still occupying nations all over the world and trying to take over large parts of it! Look up "Operation Rutter" btw. The allies attack on nazy Germany without the aid of Soviet forces was a total fail. It wasn't until Soviet had beaten most of Germany's forces that the allied landing could take place.
@tannalv um that would be false if you knew half the stuff we ''americans'' know you'd know that the 911 attack was on us, ww2 we didnt start so um so far we've started NO wars so shut up before you get your facts straight
@tannalv you are getting mad at the people of america.... why? if you are going to be mad at anything a bout the country is the government. the people of america didnt ASK for the wars. it as the government. do you want to know why we lost the vietnam war? its because the people were sick of war and the government had just started something else we hate. the war was lost because the gov had a huge lack of support from us. no one wants war.
You are right in that it was essentially the Red Army that beat the Nazis. However the other stuff is politically motivated BS. US might be imperialistic (btw, so was USSR), but not fascist.
In any case, victims of war and tragedy shouldnt ever be made fun about, no matter 'what side' they are on.
Well, of course every country under Hitlers occupation during WW2 is grateful towards all countries participating in his defeat, but I think you are exaggerating the US involvement in the defeat of Germany.
The eastern front involved up to 73% of the German armed forces, destroyed four times as many German divisions as all other fronts combined and accounted for 73% of German casualties, 75% of its tanks and aircraft lost and 74% of its artillery.
At one time in 1943, Churchill joked that the British were just "playing about" facing six German divisions, as compared to the 185 divisions the Red Army faced at the time.
@eclipse245 it wasn't the air force or the navy. it was a marine helicoptor. it was emailed to me by a fellow military member through a secure server when i was in the air force back in 98.
CH46 Sea Knight. My Frigate got resupply by them, though we were too small for them to land on us. The carrier in our battle group lost one. Good helo, but flight ops are very dangerous at sea! He's trying to land on a tennis court that is moving forward at about 15 knots and surging up and down! Very hard to do......
@markbse came in way to quick probably causing the pilot to misjudge the landing. The rear wheel then got caught on the safety net...pilot then tried to take off but the wheel was to caught up.
FYI.... that ship is not an aircraft carrier but a Military Sealift Command vessel. I cannot remember which though. The marines aboard that helo were practicing boarding the ship as part of training. I believe one or both of the pilots escaped as they were familiar with the aircraft but the 8 marines drowned despite the two fast rescue craft trailing the vessel.
If i were playing Battle field 3 i would have done it!

Die American scum, die! hehe
I'm so glad right now <3

@tannalv Suck my large U.S. Navy EOD Retired American cock!!!!,....if it weren't for OUR American fighting men and women YOU and all the other panzi ass Eurotrash countries that were occupied by Hitler in 1940 would be speaking German/Duetch,...you ungrateful Noweigian fuck!
56panhead 1 year ago 2
@56panhead Wrong, so wrong. If it wasn't for the Soviet heroes, fascists would have tried to take over the world. Oh wait! Today fascists are still occupying nations all over the world and trying to take over large parts of it! Look up "Operation Rutter" btw. The allies attack on nazy Germany without the aid of Soviet forces was a total fail. It wasn't until Soviet had beaten most of Germany's forces that the allied landing could take place.
Learn some history, fascist American!

tannalv 1 year ago
@tannalv um that would be false if you knew half the stuff we ''americans'' know you'd know that the 911 attack was on us, ww2 we didnt start so um so far we've started NO wars so shut up before you get your facts straight
veerunionfan 1 year ago
@tannalv you are getting mad at the people of america.... why? if you are going to be mad at anything a bout the country is the government. the people of america didnt ASK for the wars. it as the government. do you want to know why we lost the vietnam war? its because the people were sick of war and the government had just started something else we hate. the war was lost because the gov had a huge lack of support from us. no one wants war.
PS we are not facist

@tannalv

@56panhead
ZzaphodD 10 months ago
@ZzaphodD
At one time in 1943, Churchill joked that the British were just "playing about" facing six German divisions, as compared to the 185 divisions the Red Army faced at the time.

how the heck did you get this......were they killed? damn.....

@wfbsoccerchamp12 i think a few of them did.... i aquired it when i was in the Air Force....

@imtreedawgfaq Why would the air force have this? If it's the navy.
eclipse245 8 months ago
@eclipse245 it wasn't the air force or the navy. it was a marine helicoptor. it was emailed to me by a fellow military member through a secure server when i was in the air force back in 98.

@imtreedawgfaq My Mistake.

@imtreedawgfaq Why would it have to be transferred via a secure server?

CH46 Sea Knight. My Frigate got resupply by them, though we were too small for them to land on us. The carrier in our battle group lost one. Good helo, but flight ops are very dangerous at sea! He's trying to land on a tennis court that is moving forward at about 15 knots and surging up and down! Very hard to do......

@amazinglyawesomedude What I mean is that the pilot could have cut the power. Looks like he tried to break the safety cable he was caught on.

looks like ch47 chinook... still have no idea why it dropped... anyone know why?
markbse 1 year ago
@markbse if you look close. when it tryed to take back off it's wheel got caught in the net.
bigpapagene 1 year ago
@markbse came in way to quick probably causing the pilot to misjudge the landing. The rear wheel then got caught on the safety net...pilot then tried to take off but the wheel was to caught up.

@Mr101Airborne Marines would argue that they are neither sailors or soldiers, they are marines!!

Front window you can see the guy trying to escape when its falling back....=(
neverislove 1 year ago
FYI.... that ship is not an aircraft carrier but a Military Sealift Command vessel. I cannot remember which though. The marines aboard that helo were practicing boarding the ship as part of training. I believe one or both of the pilots escaped as they were familiar with the aircraft but the 8 marines drowned despite the two fast rescue craft trailing the vessel.

@asqwer3 How do you know whether the guys who got killed were good? If they returned from an illigal military mission, they deserved their deaths.

More than one hero died in the crash. Among the dead was a Navy Corpsman. I was on duty at NMCSD the day this happened.
