I actually really like these movies. Why would I want to watch the same story of the video games? Why would I pay money to see that? I wouldn't. So people complaining that the characters aren't correctly portrayed or the story is retarded are forgetting that this is a completely different experience from the games.

I honestly still think Charlize Theron would've played the perfect Jill Valentine. (If you're a true Resident Evil fan, you know what I mean. The resemblance between the video game Jill and Theron are so similar. Plus Theron is an award winning actress)... However, I'll still devote myself to watching the movies.

People, you have to understand that the movies serie has ANYTHING to do with the videogame serie. So they can use the characters they want in the way the want with the characteristics they want. The movie serie is not forced to follow the videogame serie steps. Those are 2 completely different stories, you should know that.

But on another note: It is quite popular to make films either based upon books or even other movies.

So, why can´t movies based upon games do the same?? Besides, no matter how much the movie follows the game it would never be exactly like the game.

People always says that the movies are wrong because some events of characters in the movies aren't in the videogame. They just made it different but very similar. F.ex: During the Racoon City outbreak they could follow a group of Umbrella soldiers or a police officer. Yoo know like when RE2 and RE3 (in games) take place in the same location at (almost) the same time but without the protagonists meeting each other.

@DistraughtK I think I read somewhere that they aren't gonna put a Leon in. In one of the movies, (I forget which one), it says on a news paper article that Leon Kennedy died. THey where planning on putting him in though. The actor they were gonna use looked NOTHING like Leon. He looked almost like chris with brown hair. I can't wait for Damnation as well. Though the Leon from Degeneration wasn't as humorous as he was in Resident Evil 4. I still loved the movie though.

The director did say that he's not trying to recreate the game in movie, he's venturing off to show another side of resident evil, Developing the idea and world more i guess.
@Kay2be2M Yes it is Sienna Guillory, the same actress from RE2. Yeah, she looks really different with long, blonde hair. In the 5th RE game Wesker uses Jill as a test subject and the side affects caused pale skin and blonde hair.
alice is in the movies but in games shes no there . Leon is in the games but in movies or RE series hes no there although he had movie called REdegeneration but its not one of the RE series .

Jill and Carlos from what I know are the only character that had there video games counter parts background. Which was the only thing I liked. In the second film. I was PISSED when they fucked up Chris redfield character. Not once did I hear him mention Jill or stars in the movie. Iran he loves Jill in the damn game why couldn't that have been put in the film. @DarkBrawlerLink And they usually follow the story in their "original" format quite often, and people still watch them despite having read the book or seen the original movie. So, why can´t movies based upon games do the same?? Besides, no matter how much the movie follows the game it would never be exactly like the game.

@Nekhet That's what I think. You know, movies inspired in games copy a lot of stuff and elements, but make it in their own way. People always says that the movies are wrong because some events of characters in the movies aren't in the videogame. They just made it different but very similar. I agree, I think the videogames story and characters are better, but like you said, the movie will never be exactly the like the game.

@DarkBrawlerLink Well, personally I think they should have created completely new characters but still set in the same world as the games. F.ex: During the Racoon City outbreak they could follow a group of Umbrella soldiers or a police officer. Yoo know like when RE2 and RE3 (in games) take place in the same location at (almost) the same time but without the protagonists meeting each other.

@DarkBrawlerLink That way the producers of the films wouldn´t encounter the problem with fans who are pissed that their Jill Valentine "IS PORTRAYED WRONG!!" and still stay true to the story of the games.

@Nekhet I agree with you in that aspect. To satisfy the fans, they need the actors to act like the characters will do in th videogame. I definately prefer 1,000 times Jill from the videogames than Jill from the movies =)

Well, let´s just say that aside from the outfit and the name I can´t regconize Jill in the movies (I can´t with the other characters either, I mean wtf happened to Claire??, but that´s another story).

@DarkBrawlerLink So, yeah as we both already have stated: Either the movies should be exactly like the games (which I highly doubt is possible, and perhaps would become a bit boring in the long run) or just set the movies in the same world just with a new story etc. But unfortunately they tried to do both and it became somewhat "messy" if you know what I mean:S

@DistraughtK I think I read somewhere that they aren't gonna put a Leon in. In one of the movies, (I forget which one), it says on a news paper article that Leon Kennedy died. THey where planning on putting him in though. The actor they were gonna use looked NOTHING like Leon. He looked almost like chris with brown hair. I can't wait for Damnation as well. Though the Leon from Degeneration wasn't as humorous as he was in Resident Evil 4. I still loved the movie though.

@Kay2be2M Yes it is Sienna Guillory, the same actress from RE2. Yeah, she looks really different with long, blonde hair. In the 5th RE game Wesker uses Jill as a test subject and the side affects caused pale skin and blonde hair.

Jill and Carlos from what I know are the only character that had there video games counter parts background. Which was the only thing I liked. In the second film. I was PISSED when they fucked up Chris redfield character. Not once did I hear him mention Jill or stars in the movie. Iran he loves Jill in the damn game why couldn't that have been put in the film. Paul is an idiot and i will tell u why. first he ruined RE with this crapy story and project alice. second the whole point to battle suit jill was to get revenge on chris or probibly in this case crapy character alice. now this horrid movie would be just a little more interesting if Paul but jill in the raven suit so those who never played the game would want to see the next one to find out who she is.... thats how i would have done it if i were paul, but if i were him i wouldn't have ruined RE.
