my bird spot looks just like that...im trying to tame her but everytime my hand gets close to her she gets scared and flys away or goes to another part of the cage...i never abused her or anything ...nobody ever did...any advice?
My cockatiel also was laying eggs one time constantly. Then I read that you just need to prevent her to go to any dark places in order for her to stop.
I had a budgie who could be as vicious as this. She would make threatening noises and jab at me with her beak when I interrupted he obsessions which always involved chewing something.
@BlahBlahLovesYou Maybe you're letting her have too much daylight time. If they have less night time, they'll think it's breeding season and thus get aggressive and broody. Try covering her for at least 8-10 hours (12 tops), that usually prevents them from thinking it's mating season. I've been doing that with my cockatiel and she hasn't laid an egg in years.
My cockatiel is so sweet and loves to be with me.But when she lays eggs, she hisses and doesn't want me near.Even tries to bite. I've found that all I have to do is kneel beside her cage and talk softly to her.Soon, she's calm, letting me pet her and even sitting on my hand. I hope this helps anyone facing the same problem.
I had a cockateil and she was laying eggs from when she was 9-14 years old. During the egg period it was not wise to go near it. but how the HELL did u manage to get her to lay eggs in ur desk XD!!! that's fucking epic LOL!
They will try to nest in any confined area that they feel is comfortable enough to do so. I had to get move some items from the top of my refrigerator because my tiel was starting to get territorial and wanted to nest there. lol!
@Mudgrrrl79 Well they must take a while to want nest there and lay eggs right? because my friend has a teil and he lets it play outside of the bird cage for 2 hours a day. COuld it acually make a nest in that short amount of time?
she is SO cute! My cockatiel Lyric was hiding on a shelf and she came blasting out of the dark, hissing, with her wings and crest up, sort of like Sammie in this vid. It's funny how they think they're so scary and mean looking, and we just think they're cute.
I had a couple of female birds years ago and both were quite calm and friendly and would not bite....but im sure they were able to inflict one if they wanted as both would chew edges of brickwork.
A couple of old male birds..one still survives now at 23 yrs old.... he has bitten me a few times and once made a hole clean through my fingertip...ouch !!
One of the females would actually sleep in my hand and lay eggs there too,, weird feeling.
give to her privacy, just let her stay there, they need a dark and silence place for be calm and paceful.she is cute.linda.hermosa.

Very cute... :3
I wish I had a pregnant cockatiel...
I would luv to see a baby cockatiel being raised by his/her parents...
Oh and I have a cockatiel as wild as this one, and shes female too.
I hope she`ll lay eggs, cause the male one did rape her LOLZ XD
Oh and also, unlike yours that one of mine does really good damage, once she could`ve bit my fingers deep to the bone If I didn`t think fast.
And it isnt scary, a man can handle pain!

why dont u get ur bird a nest box
dcs126 2 years ago
because i don't really want to encourage her to nest, she's a fairly old bird, about 14, and laying eggs puts a lot of stress on her body.
