"Electric motors" generally have a permanent magnet on either the stator or rotor and a electric coil magnet respectively on the rotor or stator.
And the main difference is magnetic motors can't run and are a scam...
If you would mount this wheel with horizontal shaft and enlighten the e.g. topright area the wheel would also turn when you remove the rocks... not due to the effects of magnetism but also without magnets .... the wheel would enlarge in this area by the effect of expanding molecular struturs due to the warmth of the light radiation and so would loose its static balance the warmed area would turn down by gravity and there would cool down ... but that is thermal and not magnetism!!!

Earth magnets are very inexpensive these days. you can pick up 20kg push force magnets for less than a couple of quid each. x50 required for something like this, + materials. i could make a magnetic generator for less than £200. but lets times the whole sizes by 5. for just £1000 no electricity bills, or polution, or maintenance

@bkermike - no it won't work. If the magnets have a push force of 150kg as you say it will take 150kg to move them into a position where they can push. Therefore no net gain. Shielding is a myth. A shield has to do two things - reduce the interaction between two magnets (therefore it has to be magnetic itself) and not be attracted to the magnets so they can move. Therefore a shield has to be both magnetic and non-magnetic.

the word theory doesn't mean it's not possible in practice. Many theories work just fine in practice. This one just happens not to be one of them... energy must be put in to be converted into other forms. Also the conversion from one form of energy to another requires energy.

@CBALLEN The universe is infinite in terms of space. People are trying to prove that there is a ending boundary to the universe, but there isn't one. It wouldn't make sense to have some magical line that stops the universe or rather space.
The main reason this won't work is friction. The friction of the bearings and turning points of this motor will overcome the power of the magnets to pull it around.

this is dumb and this entire discussion is dumb- if you theoretically did have an arrangement to utilize the magnets fighting each other they are never going to produce more energy than it takes to magnetize them- there is no way around that and they wont last long if they actually are efficiently pushing against eachother, tape two fighting together and you will see they are dead in no time
Magnets are fascinating things, the way they push and pull and twist each other with no apparent connection between them. It's tempting to suppose that there must be some way of arranging them to extract energy from them.
I have been drawing designs for a motor like this. I did think of a possible downfall of it for anyone who is interested. When the magnets move past each other, yes the similar poles of the magnets will push away, but when the magnets are at just the right angle, the opposite sides will attract to each other. Something needs to be developed that can block a magnetic field before these motors can be properly constructed. Well, only if I am correct.

I watched a video of two japanese guys building this 2 rotor system, and it cogged, wouldn't start. There doesn't seem to be enough pusher magnets to overcome the cogging effect and restart with two rotors. Perendev uses 6 degree magnets and 20 degree offset between rotors and 3 rotors, it also appears that the magnets may progressively be set lower every 5th magnet as you watch it slow down. I've built a miniture 3 rotor without shielding which cogs, low mass, low momentum, very nice video.

By the way I never said this model or anyone else on youtube with ordinary unmodified magnets would work. But I have seen a magnetic gate with nonlinear magnetic setups that flip polarity. If you study those and put together the right geometric setup, IT CAN BE MADE TO SPIN. but it would be as classified as the atomic bomb was, and it wont show up here - HJ studied the magnetic spin of a dipole close for 40yrs remember. IN the future everybody will know about the more rare magnetic effects that can be achieved and the exchange forces that come in to action. Its called spintronics. "Electric motors" generally have a permanent magnet on either the stator or rotor and a electric coil magnet respectively on the rotor or stator.

Earth magnets are very inexpensive these days. you can pick up 20kg push force magnets for less than a couple of quid each. x50 required for something like this, + materials. i could make a magnetic generator for less than £200. but lets times the whole sizes by 5. for just £1000 no electricity bills, or polution, or maintenance

@bkermike - no it won't work. If the magnets have a push force of 150kg as you say it will take 150kg to move them into a position where they can push. Therefore no net gain. Shielding is a myth. A shield has to do two things - reduce the interaction between two magnets (therefore it has to be magnetic itself) and not be attracted to the magnets so they can move. Therefore a shield has to be both magnetic and non-magnetic.
Yo obviously haven't made a magnetic motor so you can't comment.

Laws of "perpetual" mouvement of magnetic/gravity machines :
1- They don't need inicial impulse to start running.
2- Once running they don't stop unless a brake is applied.
3- They work without any electric wires or motors attached.

I have been drawing designs for a motor like this. I did think of a possible downfall of it for anyone who is interested. When the magnets move past each other, yes the similar poles of the magnets will push away, but when the magnets are at just the right angle, the opposite sides will attract to each other. Something needs to be developed that can block a magnetic field before these motors can be properly constructed. Well, only if I am correct.

Plainly, in standard model of physics, quantum fluctuations are as hard to explain as dark matter/energy, sun spots, or the solar corona or G. You need to extend 'our' 4DIM-spacetime by non-compactified extra-dimensions (|R12), so you get a collection of 4DIM-subspaces by permutations [x,y,z,t], numberd from n=1...3652. [Google for Heim-Theory] Quantum-fluctuations are a tunnel-effect, when particles randomly flip between these subspaces, while 1LTD is fully maintained - as for BH's.

Plainly, if you have no idea about a particular physical model, it's validation and engineerable concepts, does not mean other people didn't have as well. You asked me a question, and I gave you an answer, that is backed up by experiments and observations. EHT (Extended Heim Theory) was completed on behalf of ESA by University of Innsbruck (AU) but is a delicate topic due to accessability of interactions between all natural forces. Since YOU claimed flaws of thermodynamics - prove it.

I gave this video 1 star, because the design will not work. It lacks proper shielding to overcome the equilibrium produced in the unit. Looks great to most viewers, but this design is seriously flawed. The designer is at a dead end in this video, thus you do not see the actual unit working, rather only animated graphics are presented. Go figure.

I watched a video of two japanese guys building this 2 rotor system, and it cogged, wouldn't start. There doesn't seem to be enough pusher magnets to overcome the cogging effect and restart with two rotors. Perendev uses 6 degree magnets and 20 degree offset between rotors and 3 rotors, it also appears that the magnets may progressively be set lower every 5th magnet as you watch it slow down. I've built a miniture 3 rotor without shielding which cogs, low mass, low momentum, very nice video.
