Hey Dragon Laser I have a question. I work at a laser-tag arena with lots of smoke, dark rooms, and black lights. all the guys there have pretty cool laser pointers and I was wondering which you think would be best, I would like a green laser pointer, pretty powerful but nothing to excessive. Something to really wow the other guys but still keeping it somewhat cheap. Thank you.
@snowboardersrule When you point lasers at people, safety is critical. The maximum power for a safe laser is 10mW and I would not recommend using more than 5mW. 5-10mW lasers still look good in dark rooms with smoke and they will not burn your eyes out.
I'm debating on whether to buy a 125 mw viper or a 100 mw spartan. Basically I want to know which is better laser for burning (is there more to it than just Mw power)? Which is more compatible with your laser beam expander? Which is more sturdy? And overall which laser would you rather have/recommened?
I hope you answer this comment. And if you do THANK YOU!!!
Response to the price difference. The Blue laser diode is more expensive than the green and makes it different. The blue beam is also pulsed instead of whole.
Response to buying from DL. I bought a Viper 125mW and they sent me one under spec. It only puts out about 55mW instead of 125mW. I live in the US and I think that's a gimmick to rip us off. I would look at LaserGlow before buying from DL. My next laser is the Hercules 300mW from LaserGlow. Just from a laser enthusiast. Good luck.
Just a absent-minded geeky question but could these things reach outside the atmosphere? I noted you gave a range of 5 to 10km above - if that were straight up would the thinning atmosphere improve range?
Second ponderous question - at what power / colour combo is putting you hand in the beam a bad idea? Both passing it slowly through and static. I imagine something hot enough to vapourise plastic will burn skin quite efficiently.
I wonder if in distant future high powered lasers like this one will cost under $100, will they ever become so cheap that just about everyone in U.S. and other countries will have one lying around somewhere?
Wikid lasers sell a laser that is 40mW blue for $1700!!!! This laser is great!! They also sell a blu-ray laser for $2000!!! I could make a 119mW blu-ray laser for £50!
so when you guys are testing these toys do you use saftey glasses :P i mean for a >100mw laser beam to hit ones eyes, that would cause instant damage would it not. anyway you guys have the best jobs in the world :P
I don't know about a microsend or permanently blinded but it can take less than a second for a high powered laser (more than 5-10mW)to cause very serious and permanent damage to your eyes which includes possible blindness.
That is not to say you should be afraid of lasers, just treat them with respect and be VERY careful
um the lasers are over priced i bought my 300mw laser for 25bucks from my friend and he gave me a 200mw red laser for free i was like wtf?? ur serious? his like yep
Yes, you do have a pointt. High powered lasers can be dangerous.
No, high powered lasers should not be banned. They are much less dangerous than fire arms and a ban would not be effective.
Wrong. There are many legitimate uses for high power lasers. Light shows, astronomy, alignment, photography, avian dispersal, seach & rescue, research and entertainment just to mention a few.
Don't thumb down this guy. Laser pointers of this power can blind you in a microsecond. That is MUCH faster than our reaction time, so if it passes your eye or bounces a surface and hits your eye, it will blind you permanently before you can even think about looking away or blinking.
no offence but dragonlasers are extremely over priced, for example i could but the components for a 200mw laser for around 50 pounds and your website charges a lot more than that

The Viper with a smaller beam diameter and higher power is DEFINITELY much better for burning.
dragonlasers 2 years ago
why this laser isnt on your website, the most powerful spartan is the 200mw
survivorevil 2 years ago
The 200mW model is out of stock.
The 200mW Hulk is in stock which may suit you
dragonlasers 2 years ago
What? How is the 200mW out of stock? I see it in the store.

plus if there is a demonstration of these lasers could someone please tell us where to find them.

I'm interested in buying one of the "Handheld Lasers" on your site.
But unfortunately there is almost no details about these lasers.
I have a question: Why does "Spartan GW 200mW" have the same price as "Spartan BP 30mW" despite the big difference in output power ??
BlackShadow2009 2 years ago
Beacuse BP laser is blue, and blue lasers are VERY expencif and hard to make.
videoclip425 2 years ago
Is is the only reason ?
or are Blue-ray lasers better?
I mean does it travel to longer distances and burn things quicker?
BlackShadow2009 2 years ago
no, they dont travel longer, or burn faster, but they are newish tecnology, and are complex. plus blue lasers are just awsome to see!

there is one which costs about 1000$ and it can go higher than clouds
triangleshapedcheese 2 years ago
Yes because there would be less particles in the air to reflect/absorb the beam energy.

Cool... can I shoot down satalites with it?

You guys are rip offs, one thousand dollars for 40mW?
jprimex 3 years ago
You mean the Spartan BP 40mW? You will not find cheaper with that power and quality.
So expensive? Yes. Rip off? No.
dragonlasers 3 years ago
Well sorry, first thing I saw was the price and power, then later I was it was blue.
jprimex 3 years ago 2
Haha no problem. $1000 would be an incredible rip off for a 40mW green laser.

Definitely. All our technical staff wear safety glasses when handling lasers.

As PASSISPASSWORD223 just said, if the laser(75-125mW) even hits your eye for a microsecond, are you permanently blinded?

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Bag of laughs these high powered laser pointers until someone gets blinded by them.
The only wankers that buy these things are geeks, thugs and terrorists.
The people that sale, market and make these things are irresponsible cretins, any laser pointer over 5mw ought to be banned from sale.

I'm thinking about buying a 95mw Viper laser. What can this burn?
stuckandbored 3 years ago
The Viper 95mW can light matches, burst balloons and melt thinner black or dark plastics.
dragonlasers 3 years ago
i hear they now have a 350mW - 400mW
around $1000 XD
ROFLATJOE 3 years ago
Yup, that is the Hulk Ultra 350mW. The Hulk Ultra 400mW has a power between 400mW-600mW.
dragonlasers 3 years ago
300 mW, that's some serious power. Shame my wallet won't allow that at the time
SpikY00 3 years ago
is it true some lasers can heal open cuts?
i just read it and decided to come to you to see if it was correct.
dvcmvc 3 years ago
In theory, yes. Healing is incorrect though, lasers cauterize wounds which can often cause more damage than the original wound itself.
Not a recommended application for high power lasers.
dragonlasers 3 years ago
Can the Aurora GW 150 mW do this?
QwAzI94 3 years ago
Possibly but with half the power, it would take a lot longer.
dragonlasers 3 years ago
I wanna see how far they can go at night
Runescaper1000 3 years ago
With over 300mW of power and a divergence of less than1.2mRad, this laser will have a range much further than 5-10km in most conditions.

elgranto7 4 years ago
it is always cheaper to build a laser than make one. The trade off is beam quality, design and component integration.
A better bench mark would be to compare Dragonlasers prices to other sellers of lasers.
dragonlasers 4 years ago
in the end, they all do the same thing
elgranto7 4 years ago
You can say the same about a cheap two door Japanese hatch back and a BMW convertible :)
