He has done a very good job with the Dari Annunciation. Lesson for all is , if you want to hide your accent in any language the try to speak slow, by prolonging the Vowels you can hid the accent.. If Ustand had to sing a fast disco song in Dari then his Urdu accent will come out dancing too.

I doubt it if you are an Afghan. No Afghan will call this Dari accent funny aunless you are an Iranian and can not make a difference between Dari accent and Urdu.

Who are you who do not know the great Mehdi Hassan! He is the greatest ghazal singer alive and the accent is not at all funny . You do not understand. He is singing in the Afghanistan Dari accent and is doing an excellent job.

Do you have the other sweet Dari ghazal sung by shahenshâhe ghazal Ustâd Mahdi Hasan, which begins as follows:

Dishab ke to az mehr ba bâm âmada bodi

Didam ke beh az mâhe tamâm âmada bodi

Here is the refrain of the present song in Dari followed by an attempted translation in Eng. Hope it offers sidhasan & other fans some glimpses of Khân Sahebs taste in choice of Dari ghazals.

dear wingless, yes i have the song and will upload it. thanx for your interest. by the way I recon the lyrics says; KHODA TORA BA GHAM AI SHOKH MOBTALA NAKONAD not "shokhe" this is why for ease of understanding the meaning and to make it contemporary some singers have changed it to "ai dost".

Very rare my friend. The song is from a private album. Mehdi Hassan sang a number of Dari (Farsi) songs including "dishab ke to" etc. Also he recorded a few famous ones at Radio Afghanistan.
