And as I say before, all so called chrisian rock music is not good as many preacher today are not sound and good. And much of the classical music is maybe not good either? I believe that rock is not evil, but people make it evil by putting bad lyrics and themes in them. Back to Matt. 7:16, if the band members love God, and they write godly songs, then are they not Christian? Christian rock (for the most part) is good, but there are some bands that are "so-called" Christians. I only listen to Christian bands that are truly godly.

I think we should get rid of labels for Christian music. I mean, it's all music isn't it? Christian rock is a way of drawing non-Christians to Jesus. Music is not only sound but also is a culture that expresses what people feel or where they come from. Music has have an effect on people, that could be godly of worldly. If we truly have been born again and the spirit of God lives in us, we simply know what is godly and what isn't. The teaching here is not completely accurate. Third Day along with many others, sing the Holy Scriptures and has brought me to worship God with my whole heart many times, in fact I would certainly say that the 3 song worship in many churches is a far cry from worship and I have drawn much closer to God by worshiping him in spirit and in truth by utilizing christian rock/pop worship music to usher in my focus and adoration toward Almighty God in my home and car everyday of my life. @havingfun35 I have seen Third Day in concert, they do have some very good worship music, but why would they cover filth by Lynyrd Skynyrd? (and they continue to do so, Elvis as well) Another thing that these bands pride themselves on (be it any CCM rock or rap artist) is not the uplifiting of fellow brethren, but the 'reaching the lost' on their own level, the problem being this is an unscriptural use for Christian music.

It would appear that Green was a worship leader and missionary.

And as I say before, all so called chrisian rock music is not good as many preacher today are not sound and good. And much of the classical music is maybe not good either? I believe that rock is not evil, but people make it evil by putting bad lyrics and themes in them. Back to Matt. 7:16, if the band members love God, and they write godly songs, then are they not Christian? Christian rock (for the most part) is good, but there are some bands that are "so-called" Christians. I only listen to Christian bands that are truly godly.

I think we should get rid of labels for Christian music. I mean, it's all music isn't it? Christian rock is a way of drawing non-Christians to Jesus. Matthew 7:16 says "You will know them by their fruits." When I find a Christian band that I'm not sure about, I do research. If they produce good fruits, I believe they're Christian.

Music is not only sound but also is a culture that expresses what people feel or where they come from. Music has have an effect on people, that could be godly of worldly. If we truly have been born again and the spirit of God lives in us, we simply know what is godly and what isn't. Remember the devil is no demon with wings and ugly teeth, he shows up as an angel of light to deceive people, and even uses the truth of the bible as in, (Matthew 4:6) We supposed to be different from the world!

The teaching here is not completely accurate. Third Day along with many others, sing the Holy Scriptures and has brought me to worship God with my whole heart many times, in fact I would certainly say that the 3 song worship in many churches is a far cry from worship and I have drawn much closer to God by worshiping him in spirit and in truth by utilizing christian rock/pop worship music to usher in my focus and adoration toward Almighty God in my home and car everyday of my life. Praise God

@havingfun35 I have seen Third Day in concert, they do have some very good worship music, but why would they cover filth by Lynyrd Skynyrd? (and they continue to do so, Elvis as well) Another thing that these bands pride themselves on (be it any CCM rock or rap artist) is not the uplifiting of fellow brethren, but the 'reaching the lost' on their own level, the problem being this is an unscriptural use for Christian music.

Two problems: If they wanted to make money through music, using Christian words is one of the worst things you could do. And secondly, there are no 'Christian words', there are only words. And no matter how you twist it, the words even in the Bible are just words. They are truthful words, but nothing else. I'm sorry to dissapoint you Zac, bur youre wrong again.

If I feel that some CCM music draws me away from God and into sin then I'll take the hint in my heart to withdraw myself from that artist or band.

The early church did not allow any musical instruments into them for a long time. To protect the church from paganism and flesh worship. God did not forbid it, but the Churches saw the danger... Did you know that he endorses some christian rap musicans that had a "concert" in one of his meetings(that I assume you put in the same category with rock music)?. He also in one of his sermons lifts up a Keith Green song! If you search "Paul Washer preaching to reformed rappers" here on youtube you'll find out "the sad truth" about him endorsing this rap music. I love Pauls messages though! :)

I do not know much about Keith Green, but I dont consider him to be rock either. My problem is this: if the artists are doing some sort of 'ministry for God', why do they have worldly influences? Why do they listen to worldly music? That is wrong, and if it influences their music then their music is wrong.

@jclovesu Ok, I am reading some about Mr Green now. 'he was an innovator, a writer, one who really got behind the mission field, and started his own community dedicated to spreading the Gospel'. This is completely different from what we see in Christian rock today, and I see that he was under teaching or a close friend of Leonard Ravenhill, whom I have heard preach against Christian rock as well and allowing it in the church. It would appear that Green was a worship leader and missionary.
