@cherrytoasterpastry Of course not, huskies are domesticated dogs. Tigers, lions, cougars, grizzly bears, black bears, monkeys, baboons, wolves, etc.... are wild animals. Meaning they do not overcome their instinctive behaviors and should be left to live a life in the wild the way nature intended.
Another pathetic disgrace story involving law enforcement. We all know police are one of the most uneducated, out of shape professions on planet earth. Most are so fat and stupid they never get a chance to shoot their guns in the line of duty. These are the only scenarios where police are allowed to just start blowing living beings away. It's a disgrace! Cops do drugs, cops sell drugs, cops drink and drive, and cops commit murder. What an embarassment to America the state of Ohio is!!!!!!!
It's already illegal to release non-native animals into the wild.
The man who did this was deranged. He could just have easily driven a semi truck into a crowded shopping mall. Would ya'll then be screaming for semi truck legislation or an all out ban? Nope.
@NineCatsz Thats what I've been saying all along-the problem here was not the Sheriff's dept., the deputies, Jack Hanna, or anyone other than the idiot owner. Whatever problems he was having, using the animals as revenge on his neighbors was wrong. You made a good point about the legislation and the truck-same principle.
@NineCatsz Fortunately there are already laws in place that prohibit and penalize that sort of "deranged" behavior. Have you forgotten about laws regarding speed limit, operating a commercial vehicle, wreck-less endangerment, criminal vehicular homicide and injury, etc..??!! A functional society is dependent on having comprehensive rules and regulations in place, municipal, state, and federal.
@NineCatsz Tighter legislation is needed. For instance, "animal abuse" is prohibited in all 50 states, but HI, KN, MS, ND, & ID laws don't require owners to provide basic animal care such as adequate food and water, no requirement for mental health evaluations or counseling for those convicted of animal abuse and no restrictions on future ownership of animals following a conviction. 3 of 5 states don't consider cruelty, neglect or abandonment a felony.
Mass slaughter of tame animals that were born and raised in captivity. May God have mercy on those who took part in this carnage. These photos make me so, so sad.
I know the fear of them harming people but at the same time they should have tranq. them. They said most were still on the property. They could have had 500 tranq guns there in no time.Lots of vets in Ohio. There are lots of serial killers, corrupt cops and corrupt politicians that kill 1000s a day and I don't see you hunting them.
Hey please don't punish people like me who live in ohio and love wolfs and wolfdog breeds and owns a timber wolf and red wolf. Some of us are reponsible.
While it would have been great to save those animals, it is important to remember what happened with the Tsavo maneaters. If you release big cats into areas without big game, what are they supposed to eat? Releasing even one can result in a double digit death toll if it is not hunted down quickly. What happens when 36 big cats disperse into the nearby woods? It makes sense to shoot them as soon as possible. Considering this guy's record, should he have been allowed to keep them?
I understand the need for what they had to do to take care of the this issue. These are not cute, domesticated animals. They are wild! Let's not misplace blame here. It is purely the stupid owner's fault and the laws that aren't there to protect against people like this. I am very saddened over the death of these beautiful animals, but human life comes first, period! Place blame where blame is due.
The media is scared to say Lions and Tigers and Bears (oh my), because people will get pissed off. So they changed it and said shit like Lions, Tigers and Wolves? That doesn't sound right, WTF? Then one guy said at 1:01 Lion, Tigers and Grizzles? Just say bears please, (oh my) God! Let me stop before people get all bent out of fucking shape. I love animals and it was sad to hear this. But I truly think that guy was trying to make a statement. Perhaps being in jail made him realize how they feel.
@ john hanna you make the carnivores sound like they are a gang. We must shoot gang bangers because they are carnivores hanging around and its getting dark.
The lives of these animals were doomed the minute the owner took them under his "care". He obviously did not care about them or he would not have selfishly released them into the unknown. He could have had them safely taken to another facility before he decided to take his own life, but unfortunately they were forced to live out this fate. These beautiful creatures should have never been kept as "pets". Period.
@BunnehFluff your statement is very 1 sided i want a crocodile and a cougar exotic pets arent bad and the police should not of shot the animals those who say other wise are retards who should burn on a cross, those animals are for more valuable than a pathetic human such as me and you. forgive me if im rambling but this sickens me
@snake2005john Well then your comment makes you either an absolute psychotic low life monster who should be under lock and key in a sanitarium or a lying egomaniac moron who's thinks boasting about killing innocent creatures will impress. Sorry to break it to you, neither is cool.
@micahawk listen buddy, no need to get mad :) those animals are not innocent creatures. they are predators, they wouldn't shoot them if they were penguins lol. its a small town and kids could be playing in the fields, people at work, etc. if they didnt act fast, people would die. then you would be sitting here on youtube writing "they should of put them to sleep faster!". shoulda woulda coulda bro. You gota act fast when people's lives are at steak. no im not a violent person, its common sense.
@chelseazballin1993 Unfortunately (and I do mean it, since I work on the field of animal ethics), they had no choice. There`s only one person to blame: the guy that bought them, released them and even destroyed the cages so they could not be returned there.
There was no time or enough resources to adequately sedate, restrain and accommodate all those animals. That would require careful planning and expertise. Unfortunately, the officers had neither.

If someone owned 40 huskies and let them all loose and they killed or maimed someone, would that mean no one else should be able to own a husky?

More legislation is NOT the answer.
It's already illegal to abuse animals.
