I make these out of napkins when we have a dinner XD

  • @FluffnRipples

I'm sure it results the most amazingly decorated table of the world!

    ;-)

  • ^_^ I'm going to enjoy making this very much!

  • @CobaltStormDragon

    I'm sure you will!

Whoever designed this, who know how much time ago, was really inspired!

    :-)

  • @danbergam I bet :)

  • actually its called a Lotus

  • @Glamsk8ter

Sorry, English isn't my first language.

Still, I made some quick research and it looks like confusing them happens quite often.

    ^_^;;

    Thank you.

I hope that at least you appreciated the tutorial, despite the naming thing.

  • @danbergam whats your first?

  • @Andy303theking

    Language? Italian!

    ^_^

  • @danbergam omg lucky! myn is spanish

  • @Andy303theking

    Cool!

  • can you do the kawasaki rose?

  • @alberlos

I've tried to make it a couple of times, but every time I had to stop because I wasn't able to make one of the most tricky steps...

    :-\

I'll have to try again, one of these days!

    ^_^

  • @danbergam so if you want i can make a slow tutorial to help you!!

    *_*

  • @alberlos

    That would be great!

Who knows, maybe I could finally be able to make it by watching your tutorial!

    ^_^

  • @TheRandrider

I think it's an effect of the camera I used... ^_^

  • I folded one out of 16 abri posters taped together, end result was a lily over 1 meter high, big enough for two people to sit in it! Thanks to this video

  • @seventynine76

I think you very, very much for so nicely attributing me some credits... but really, let me tell you that the honour and the admiration just go to you, for both the idea, the patience... and the skills needed to complete such an amazingly big water lily like yours!

    8-O

I'm definitely impressed... and I'm grateful for having let me know about what you did!

    :-)

  • This is the kind of things that never misses to put a smile on my face... that's why I thank you so much!

Aww, I'm definitely sure she loved it... thank you for letting me know such a sweet thing... you know, these are the little, precious jewels that make Life beautiful!

    :-)

  • ur really good at origami mine cames out perfect and i gave it to my sister and she loved it =3

  • hahaha mi lily is broken ='(

  • @c5778

Aww, sorry about that... but with this origami model it may frequently happen (and it also may depend on the type and thickness of paper is used): think, it happened to me too, while filming this tutorial!

May the next one not rip at all: this is my wish for you! ^_^

  • at 5:00 you see a picture of the finish

  • @Olliedog317

In facts. Because YT, at the beginning, used to let chose from three possible thumbnails, one of them being the frame taken at the middle of the video.

  • great job but it wont float for more then 15 hours... :(

  • @cristomnick

First of all, thank you very much!

About the floating time... I guess it may vary according to which type of material it's made of... and well, let's not forget that this is only a beautiful imitation of a water lily: the real thing, something that Nature improved and perfectioned through the ages, is definitely another level!

    ^_^

    P.S.

15 hours?! Wow, it seems a lot of time, to me!

    8-O

  • i an't do step 28 i spent 30 min doing it and it ripped!! (sigh

  • @furrygon

    About step 28:

You see those little corners we have folded up.

While firmly keeping down one of those corners with a finger of one hand, with the fingers of the other hand take the corresponding triangle on the opposite face of the origami model and carefully reverse it so that it ends being on the same face the little folded corner is.

Eh, problems like accidentally ripping the paper may happen, with this particular design... the thinner the paper, the better it is! ^_^

  • beautiful work. Really, I just love it. I'm a bit clumsy when it comes to origami, but I will probably try this with this videa :3

  • @Ayannaceedle

Thank you so much! Whoever invented this traditional waterlily really was inspired!

Well, I'm myself very far from being good and accurate with origami... but I guess that practice helps... and, after all, seeing a finished model come out right from your hands always is such a great satisfaction!

    :-D

I wish you a happy and satisfying origami time!

    ^_^

Thank you again for stopping by and so nicely commenting!

    ^_^

  • Dude you have some smooth hands to make those things, thou is an artist!, thou have some pretty good talents.

  • @Knapsniper

*Takes away its own hat and deeply bows, in sign of gratitude for one of the nicest comments he has received. Ever.*

    ^_^

  • what paper do you use? A4?

  • @iSunQueen

No, it's a squared sheet of paper.

    ^_^

  • @danbergam how many cm?

  • @iSunQueen

I guess it was 15 x 15 cm or so... but, by the way, you're free to experiment with whatever size you want!

    ^_^

  • Arr!! I cannot Understand

  • @MyNameIsCHOWDER

Please, just let me know what specific steps you don't get and I'll try to put down a written explanation!

    ^_^

  • @danbergam step 28

  • @MyNameIsCHOWDER

    About step 28:

You see those little corners we have folded up.

While firmly keeping down one of those corners with a finger of one hand, with the fingers of the other hand take the corresponding triangle on the opposite face of the origami model and carefully reverse it so that it ends being on the same face the little folded corner is.

    Hope this helps!

    :-)

  • @danbergam Ohh!! thats why it didnt look like a water lily!! lol!! thanks that helped!!

  • @MyNameIsCHOWDER

Oh, I'm glad about that: I'm here to help!

    ^_^

    Have a great origami time!

    :-D

  • nice

  • @S9S9N9R9

Thank you very much for stopping by and kindly commenting!

    ^_^

  • Thank You! The video was very easy to follow.

  • @ilo3sjw

Thanks to you for watching and appreciating and for your very kind words!

    ^_^

  • @ilo3sjw

    You know what?

I'm not satisfied with *my* reply... because your comment is very focused, and it deserves a specific reply!

Since the my first origami tutorial I've tried to do my best to keep them slow and easy to follow... that's why your words are so rewarding!

    Thank you again!

    ^_^

  • @danbergam

Well I think you did a wonderful job. ^_^ I look forward to seeing more in the future.

  • @ilo3sjw

Oh, then I cordially invite you to subscribe to my channel: so far I've been publishing more than 50 origami tutorials!

Right now, for example, I have a multiform origami series going on; from a shape, with a few steps, you may obtain a new one... it's just amazing!

    :-D

  • THANKS sorry 4 2x post i dont know how to edit my comments (if its even possible)

  • @Stormeris

No need to be sorry... apart from the fact that your comment (so far) only was posted once! ^_^

No, editing of our comments isn't yet possible: only deleting and rewriting them is possible, so far!

    ^_^

  • oh lol this was the only one i could NOT make from a origami book i have ;D evry other 159 i could with ease

  • @Stormeris

I easily understand you, because that way to pull over the petals is quite peculiar!

Oh, well... at least you've found my video!

    ;-)

    Congratulations for making it!

    ^_^

  • I did it but one side ripped ):

    was awesome tho~

    made tons more THANKS!~!~

  • @Candymylife

Trying again it's a good exercise to develop the required carefulness for to make this one without ripping the paper... by the way, mine ripped too! ;-)

    You're very welcome!

    :-D

  • oh this is really easy! but i learned it the harder way by looking it up in a book 8) very easy =) not hard at all!

  • @he3rtbrok3n

My first contact with origami has been with a book as well: nothing to complain - limits are all mine - but sometimes the written explanation couldn't be anything but a little complicated... in my hopes seeing the moves from the folder's point of view should be a lot clearer!

Thank you so much, hence, for your very rewarding words!

    ^_^

  • @danbergam it depends, sometimes the hands are in the way! but not in this videro =) thank you for posting this video up!

  • @he3rtbrok3n

I guess perfection is not of this world!

    ^_^

Thanks to you for your kindness!

  • It's so hard....

  • @cutebunbun1212

Relax for a while and then try again: with origami this kind of approach often helps!

    :-)

  • This is gorgeous! When I was folding the petals up, though, it ripped a bit. Hopefully next time I will know to be more careful.

  • @mudddkipz

    Your kindness is gorgeous! ^_^

Yes, it may easily happen to have the paper rip a bit while doing that folding up... but, oh well, I'm more than sure that next time it won't happen!

    Thank you so much!

  • @danbergam Thank you, I did try it again and it worked even better.

  • @mudddkipz

Well, I was more than sure that it would have ended like that!

Congratulations... and thank you so much for letting me know your satisfaction!

    :-)

  • FML I MESSED UP. I PAUSED THE VIDEO AND FOLDED THE WHOLE THING IN HALF.

  • @bekikx

I'm sure next time it'll go better: with origami, the more you try the better it gets!

    :-)

  • FINALLY I got how to do this *___* Thanks!

  • @TheRabieskatten

Congratulations for succeding: you've made it with your will, skills and hands!

Thanks to you, for letting me know your satisfaction!

    ^_^

  • thanks for the great tutorial! C:

  • @AnnihilationGirl

Thanks to you, for the great comment!

    :-D

  • @danbergam You are so fun to learn from, I have fun when I see your videos :)

  • @yuki2115

I tell you, this is one of the most beautiful things I've ever been said about my tutorials... you've put a big smile on my face, that's why I thank you so much!!!

    :-D

  • its funny, cuz when i clicked on this video while it was loading, i got the same color of paper

  • @HellaKitty21

Oh, I always say that Life is full of coincidences!

    ^_^

  • OMG!!!! tHIS PERSON MADE ME MESS UP ON THE BEGINNING!!!!! BECUZ HE SAID TO CREASE ONLY THE MIDDLE!!!!! OMG IM SO PIST!!!

  • @nguyentuongvinina Haha, well it would have been worse if he made you mess up on the last step. Imagine how that would feel like;)

  • if people say this a million times i apoligize but it says floating lilliy. mine floats for a few minutes but then sinks any suggestions to improve this. some wax perhaps or something of that sort???

  • @kodeman636

    No need to apologize! ^_^

I wonder how it could perform by gluing some transparent wrap (that kind you use with foods) to its bottom, once it's done... or by using some kind of plastified... and waxed paper too!

    ^_^

  • thanks good video!!! i made 4 flowers!! XD

  • @dievibal

Many thanks to you, for your kindness!

Oh, origami is such an addicting hobby!

    ;-D

  • i did it! :D it only ripped 2 times but not that "big" :C

  • @mangarockss

So, I want to congratulate with you, for both doing it... and for having used such a delicate touch (some small rips may happen, with this origami figure)!

    :-)

  • @danbergam thanks man!

  • daang mine keeps ripping :[

  • @CookieMonsta400

This particular figure requires a lot of extra delicacy... I'm sure that you'll be able to succeed!

  • @danbergam i bought thinner paper and i got used to making it so now it never rips =] i just realized ive been using thick paper so thats why it was ripping a lot before.

  • @CookieMonsta400

I think I need to apologize to you... because, now that you mention it, I think I've given, somewhere in past, just this advice to use thinner paper!

Sorry... but congratulations for having figured it out by yourself!

    ^_^

  • ugh, this is hard. mine looks nothing like yours :(

  • @twilightfan1684

    Don't despair!

Origami is like this, the more you try and practice the more you get better: it's a law whose validity I constantly verify!

So, believe me... and believe in yourself and in your skills, that try after try will improve and will let you obtain beautiful origami figures!

    :-)

  • its really hard i cant make it

  • @elaine6655

I know, by my experience, that origami often requires some tries: that's why I cordially invite you to try again, maybe after a short pause!

Another advice I can give you is to use, if possible, a thinner paper: in facts, because of the multiple layers overlapping each other, the thinner the paper, the easier is to do the folds!

    ^_^

  • man... been a while since i did origami. i'm watching this for a quick reminder, good to see these videos are still up. i remember sitting in seminar freshman year and making lillies, irisis, and lotus flowers w/ old papers always had some one across the room staring at me mezmorized by the stuff i was making w/ old graded papers or some of my own paper (construction and origami) ty for the vid's man i learned so much from you^^

  • @MadamMozart

When I saw this comment I thought - hey, I think I remember this username! -

Oh, these videos are not going to be taken down... even more now that I've become a YT Partner! ;-D

I'm more than proud to have been able to help you learn origami: lately I'm uploading more and more tutorials... feel free to stop by, whenever you want!

May the sun always shine in you!

    ^_^

  • just stopping in for some origami. i might try this one. i really like that you posted tags in so many languages!

  • @efbeckley

Origami is so much fun... and when it goes smooth it is relaxing as well! ^_^

About the tags, it's something I realized at a certain point, after I got the chance to interact with human beings from the whole world... there are so many people out there, that may want to try some little paper wonders!

    ^_^

  • @danbergam that's for sure. i saw how many views you've gotten with these. people really love it. i've never made more than a paper airplane, lol. notebook paper probably wouldn't work on this because of how thick it gets.

  • @efbeckley

Definitely, people love origami: it's just amazing how from a simple, boring square of paper one may obtain the most amazing figures: it's just math... but kinda looks like magic! ;-D

A paper airplane? Well, it still is origami... and, isn't flying one of the most ancient and fascinating dreams of the humankind? ^_^

Hmmm, yes, notebook paper is maybe too thick for this water lily!

  • This is the 2nd video ive seen from u and i LOVED IT the first was the lesson 13 waterlily

  • @origamikid000

    You're so kind!

Definitely, these two videos represent two completely different way to see a waterlily: one traditional, more realistic (this one), the other more stylized... but equally beautiful, in its own unique way!

I'm really, really glad to know that you like it: that's why I thank you very much!

    ^_^

  • i dont like it

  • @artikelmusic

And me, I respect your opinion.

  • Hello you and your fingers :)

  • @Nad3Titanic3

Hello in return... from me and my paper-folding fingers, of course!

    :-)

  • its called a lotus smart 1

  • @aznprobie

As far as I know it can be called in more ways.

Anyway, English is not my first language.

  • @danbergam Dude im srry my frickin sister is using my damn account to watch oragami and commenting really disrespectfully

  • @aznprobie

    Don't mind, things that happen!

    ^_^

  • i am ok .nothings hurts just my ego for ripping the paper but i am sure the kids will do it better then i did. maybe i will tape the kids doing it :) anytime i can i will make you smile you made my day nicer with your video

  • @moanad2005: Well, kids can be great with origami... because little fingers always help!

Thank you so much, really: it's amazing how this world, apparently enormous, becomes quite small, thanks to the Internet... and two human beings, each one from its side, no matter how afar, can gift each other with a smile...

    Have a great, great everything!

    Thank you again!

    :-D

  • hello back to you and your magic fingers . i accidently fell on your video :)))) and in this sec i am trying to do it ( i ripped a little bit the paper but its ok next time will be better . tnx for the video

  • @moanad2005: Hello to you in return!

Haha, I like this thing of the magic fingers of mine: I need to find a way to use it in a video! :-D

Did you really accidentally fall on my video?! Well, hope everything is ok and nothing hurts! ;-)

I'm sure you'll like how the waterlily results at the end, despite that little ripping of the paper; definitely, practice makes perfect!

    ^_^

Thanks to you, for the bright, warm, smile-giving ray of sun you've brought in my day!

    :-)

  • Good work and thank you for sharing.

  • Thank you very much!

  • cool but i dont know if size paper to use?

  • @skippygirl959

    I'm wondering (can't exactly remember it) if for this video I used a 14cm x 14 cm or a 17 cm x 17 cm sheet of paper.

Anyway, a particular size is not something one is forced to use: try and see what's best for you!

Thank you for stopping by and kindly commenting!

    ^_^

  • no prop hahaha hey thanks ill try to use a square peice or one of those sizes :)

  • Have a great origami time!

    :-)

  • :D will do! haha i was makeing paper claws just a couple minutes ago those are fun!

  • Paper claws?!

    Definitely, sounds funny!

    ^_^

  • hahaha yeah their awesome so simple too you should look it up! today i learned the paper boat and how to make a fox! :)

  • @skippygirl959

    Cool!

  • :D but not as cool as the stuff you do!

  • @skippygirl959:

    :-D

    *bows in sign of gratitude*

  • hahaha * claps and whistles* =)

  • @skippygirl959:

*too busy in bowing down for to see where he's going, he suddenly falls down in the orchestra pit, with a long - OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW - and then a big mess of musical instruments noises and musicians grunts arises from down there covering his laments*

    xD

    Hahaha!

  • HAHAHA *jumps to stage and starts to wildly dance! and once done jumps down into the pile of instruments* =D

  • @skippygirl959

    xD

*They slowly, fatiguely manage to jump up from the pit and they begin to run, with the angry musicians running after them for having destroyed their instruments*

Hmm... I fear that the theatre management won't let us in anymore!

    xD

  • LOL!!!! *runs up to a car but forgets the door is locked and ramms sraight into the side (K.O.)* hahaha xD

  • @skippygirl959

    HAHAHA!

*The stress is so high that he becomes all green, grows twice its height and weight; while growling some indecipherable words, he gently detaches her from the car side and leaves her safe at some distance, then lifts the car over his head and, while singing out of tune the first notes from Beethoven's 5th main theme, he throws it (the car, not the music theme!) towards the orchestral musicians, still chasing after them, obtaining the result of stopping their run.*

    xD

  • OMG AHAHAHAH!! *she slowly wakes up and scraches her head a while then shrugs her shoulders and pulls a white flag out of nowhere, then hands it to the musicians as a sign that they lost!* :D

  • great vid made one for gf

    she loved it

  • First comment I've read today... I couldn't have a better beginning; thank you so much for letting me know!

    May God bless your love!

  • lovely! i could follow each step! But maybe you could have given a hint, concerning the size of the paper -my waterlily is about 2,5cm big! almost made a knot in my finger doing the last steps! ;-)

  • If I remind correctly, I used a 14cm x 14cm sized square!

    Thank you!

  • this was really easy to follow. i could even do it with colored construction paper. thanks alot :D

  • Making these tutorials easy to follow was my purpose: so, thank you very much!

    :-D

  • i am the 99.000 viewer:x good job man i really like it

  • So, congratulations for being the 99.000th viewer!

And thank you very much for appreciating!

  • funny thing im not that lucky...

everytime i think somthings gonna happen it doesent and when i use coulerd origami paper it ripped and when i use white origami paper its fine!!!!!

flippin hell i want to get LUCKY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    CURSE MY UNLUCKYNESS!!!!

  • Don't despair.

And try to not fix on this kind of things, or it will not go better.

Just be concentrated on what you're doing, be delicate... and everything will be fine!

  • @danbergam Thanks :)

  • Once you make one of these you can start popping them out like tic tacs!

  • In facts, it's kinda a matter of taking up the rhythm!

  • yes it actually works =D thanks a ton

  • Oh, of course it works: otherwise, I wouldn't have been able... to demonstrate it! ;-)

But, yes, those folds are a bit challenging!

    Congratulations!

    You're welcome!

  • ripped mine :P will try again thanks loads for this vid i learn most of my origami from you :D ur great at it

    thanks again

  • Things that happen, with this design and its particular folds... I'm sure next time you'll succeed!

Thanks to you, for your very kind words!

    ^_^

  • Thank you, I am of Chile, slightly English

Gracias, soy de chile, se poco ingles.

    jajajajajajaja.

  • Obrigado!

  • ty verry much i can make it ty

  • I can understand your satisfaction, it's the same I had when I found out I was able to make this one!

  • this was really helpful!

i managed to do it, even tho i think yours looks way prettier xP

i guess i just need to practice...

    thanx for the lesson! :3

  • First of all, thank you!

In second place, you got the point: to practice and to try to be as much accurate and precise in each single step is just key!

Thanks to you for watching and so kindly commenting!

    ^_^

  • luv it thnx!!!!!!!!!!

  • You're welcome!

    ^_^

  • My thumb... ow ow ow ow ow ow ow. Everytime I press space bar it hurts...

  • Sorry about that.

I guess your thumb will get better very soon.

  • ...This is an origami lotus, not a waterlilly. I just learnt it from a different video five minutes ago. Thanks for the practice though :)

  • You're welcome.

  • Just a question where do you get square paper that you use started making origami 2 weeks back or more i know how to make a butterfly shuriken a fox and another butterfly and i always have to cut the square piece out and it dosent be very great so i am just wondering where do i buy it? And a great video tutorial 10/5 and faved :D

  • oh and the origami flower is the number 24 and i almost can do another one without seeing how it is done almost.

  • Well, congratulations!

  • ops i see i wrote origami flower i meant butterfly xD and thx now i know

  • I draw/print/cut it by myself, with my computer (with a normal word-processor, being sure that what I draw is a perfect square) and my printer: from a standard A4 sized sheet of paper I can obtain two squares.

By the way... thank you for your kind words!

  • Gracias por compartir esta bella flor.

  • You're welcome!

  • shit man i fucking rape the paper

  • It happened to me, even in the model shown here.

It's a matter of prudence, delicacy... and, eventually, of the type of paper used.

  • u should use a condom next time :)

  • its so easy and looks great at the same time thanks i love your vids at the same time thanks

  • Thanks to you for your kindness!

  • Hey i love you videos they are so helpful =]

Keep up the good work ^_^

  • Thank you so much, you're very kind and your words are just rewarding!

    ^_^

I'll try to keep it up.

  • i love it!!

i'm gonna try it and the waterlily was beautiful!!

  • Have a great origami time!
