  • MADE IN AMERICA

  • @SergeiSovietUnion1 Take it easy, man. Don't be so hard on yourself. Some people probably like you, don't they?

  • @jonesy97 YouTube site: Slim Pickens In Riding The Bomb Funny Moments 3:20 sec. End of Story.

  • @bodacious2109 I searched it and saw Slim riding the bomb, but send me the link, so I can see what you're talking about. All the ones there weren't close to three and a half minutes long.

Either that or just tell me what you're getting at. Don't be so cryptic.

  • This was one of the first PROTOTYPE flights in the early 90's...the on board computer had a glitch, this was the result.

  • The control diagram must have been upside down...

  • @dsm92eclipsegsx13

    Like in "Independence Day"..?

  • @xedor2003 lol....Yup!

  • 64522744 am guessing thats your name where you live?

  • dont yall understand trolling?

  • who gives a shit about the pilot, that was like 60000000 mil down the drain, we can always replace pilots, but we cant just make planes as if we were making printing paper, but we can replace pilots like printing paper.

  • i disagree, you can just build more planes, you need specific people to be a pilot.

  • your a fucking idiot. its takes years and tens of thousands of dollars to train one pilot you stupid ignorant fuck head.

  • Your right, it does take tens of thousands of dollars to train a pilot, but it takes tens of millions of dollars to make a f22, and there are tens of thousands of specimens to choose from to fly a f22, but there are only about 200-300 f22's.........................So now i ask you............WHATS MORE IMPORTANT..........................( God, i'm such a jackass) :P

  • the pilot takes at least 18 years to grow to adulthood, in mass production the aircraft would opnly take a month or two to build. its quite shocking all you think about is money instead of your fellow man.

  • @64522744 Yeah, you can replace someone to FLY the plane, but you can't replace a lost soul...once your gone, your gone. What if he had a family? What if you crashed a plane, and yu're lying there, about to die and people run right past you just to see if the jet's okay, and aren't even concerned about you. Who gives a shit about the plane? Guess what... the reason we have those planes is to kill more people. If you ask me, it's a good thing the plane's destroyed.

  • @RYFO117...........who cares..........this world would benifit greatly if it had less peole in it.............starting with india and china.

  • @64522744 how about starting with you.

With out you the world has one less primitive dickhead who probibly is no good at anything in life and is most likley jealous that he can never pilot one of the finest aircraft of current times or anything capable of flight.

I wonder if you can even drive are car let alone properly.

  • @RYFO117 its a GOOD THING THE PLANE IS DESTROYED?yeah you think so what if all those planes that we have are destroyed would you be happy??would you be happy when other countries start killing all of us huh would you?think about it

  • @oTECHNETIUMo I didn't mean LITERALLY a good thing the plane's destroyed. I was just trying to make a point that if a plane was about to blow up, and a pilot was about to die, i'd get the pilot, THEN TRY to get the plane. When I said it's a good thing, I meant if, like, ALL planes were destroyed and the only way to win a war was to use infantry guns, OR build more planes. I just meant war planes can cause alot more destruction than soldiers.

  • @RYFO117 oh of course,a human life is far greater than a plane or anything.but a war with only ifantry is just as bad as any other because the wars would be longer and and the war wont be won until one of the leaders lost alot of men.also their would be more wars for that matter to because the everyones almost equal.since we have the f 22 raptors other tech people are afraid start wars now.

infantry can cause as much damage as a jet but at a way way slower rate

    .come up witha better argument

  • @oTECHNETIUMo I'm really not trying to start an argument, just state my opinion

  • poor thing...

  • Thats alot of money scraping down that runway. See now the Typhoon would have that problem ; )

  • at least the pilot ejected...

  • he didnt eject ,,this wasnt a crash in takeoff either it was a test flight and the pilot brought the plane back to the runway without eject

  • you mean landing?

  • Looked like the YF-22.

  • some say that it was computer error...

  • skid495- if none of us would make it as pilots. then why am i a colonel in the USAF- flying the F-22 Raptor and the B2 Spirit?

  • From your youtube profile: "Age: 19." 'Nuff said.

  • ahahahhahaa, ok colonel pizza face, whatever you say.

  • Ha ha Gimliglide just ripped u apart . lol colonel pizza face is also good .

  • hahahah

    you're a faggot 19 year old. lol

And BTW...F-22's and B-2's are completely different planes, and you will never get to fly both planes. I know this because I attend UC Davis with a major in aeronautical science and when the F-14 tomcats retired, pilots flying this plane had to "retrain" to fly the F-18 super hornet.

You need to keep your mouth shut son. faggotassmotherfucker

  • A colonel that can't capitalize? I have a hard time believing this, considering all the ME training the bomber pilots have to do to be able to do engine out NDB approaches. You want to explain to me how to shoot an ILS or NDB, engine out, be my guest but something tells me you can't.

  • He doesn't even know what an instrument rating is, hes just a loser

  • its quite an old video, it happened to one prototype plane severals years ago....

  • Thats what happens when you install Vista as the operating system for the Avionics.

  • ROFL I SOOOO AGREE

  • @LanciaS4 Lol good one

  • OMG...! What a bunch of fucking freaks.. You need to get away from FlightSim, Discovery channel and pulling yourselves over Airforces Monthly and all get a life. Fuck...!.. None of you could or would make it as a pilots foreskin...Nerds...lol...!

  • fuck off you peice of shit ive been working to be a pilot my whole life and guess whose flying the f-22 raptor now..Me... so who the fuck is a foreskin now ...bitch

  • I think someone is still in lala land. Keep dreaming buddy. Real pilots dont get on Youtube bullshit stories about supposedly being a pilot, they just go and do the job and dont care what people think. Sounds like your wet dream still hasnt come into fruition yet mate. Good luck though. You will get there one day little fella.lol

  • Thanks for the laugh. I actually teared up from all the laughing. lol. keep dreaming bud. I agree with skid495

  • looool.

  • Yes, thats precisely what I was saying, vectoring engaged after gear up, pilot nose down "induced oscillations", partially human error under this light. What your trying to say is, the system did not try to stop or prevent these oscillations.

  • Take off! No, Lading! No, take off! No, landing! No... Ahhh! Crap!

  • the guy must be like FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKK im gona die .... phew

  • hahahahahhahahaa lololol, that's exactly what i was gonna say, fuckin good call lol

  • Ahahahahahhaa!!!

  • I think that was testing.. I've seen they do that with the Y/F-22. They test how well it sustaines landing on the tummy.

  • thats an "OH SHIT" moment

  • That was take-off.

  • ahahah -_- assh**e

  • If memory serves me right, this was a software glitch on a test model that led to bigger and bigger oscillations, the test pilot wisely porpoised it safely onto the ground.

  • Sydbernice:

hmm, i dont know about that.

Pilots nose down for low alt take off's, this was an error by the managerial. its a jet with thrust vectoring. thrust vector is initiated as soon as the gear is up, pilot tried to correct miscalculation on the downards and upwards direction. simple mistake.

  • I saw this on the discovery channel. If I recall correctly the pilot was fighting the fly by wire controls to correct the oscillations, similar to what happened with the recent B2 crash in Guam recently. I could be wrong about this as I'm recalling this from a very very long time ago.

  • Ok, I found this on the net.

"The hard landing of the F-22 prototype N22YX occured on May 25, 1992.

It was as a result of severe pitch oscillations caused by software limitations. "

  • Hmm, well if you say so, but I too saw a program... Named F/A 22 raptor or stealth, and there was a representative from Lockheed skunk works, and he said it was a simple mistake... nothing to do with software.

  • From wikipedia.

"In April 1992 during flight testing after contract award, test pilot Tom Morgenfeld escaped without injury when the first YF-22 prototype that he was flying crashed while landing at Edwards Air Force Base in California. The cause of the crash was found to be a flight control software error that failed to prevent a pilot-induced oscillation."

  • Sounds like it was both pilot and software.

"In an interview, the YF-22 Program manager -Sherman Mullin said, "As the F-22 was flying low over the runway with the wheels down, all was well. The TVC does not work with the wheels down. When Lockeed Test Pilot of the YF-22 Program Tom Morgenfeld raised the landing gear, the TVC system engaged. The nose being held down, with the TVC suddenly engaging caused the YF-22 to suddenly descend. Tom Morgenfeld quickly pulled back on the stick..."

  • "...His reactions trying to stabilize the aircraft is what caused the oscillations. He did know what the problem was but he wanted to get the YF-22 back on the ground, the larger the pieces from the crash would make the analysis easier. That resulted in the crash landing.

The aircraft entered a performance area of the envelope that had not been explored or even thought about."

  • That wasn't take off, that was landing.

  • computer fail .........? tri one mac on the plane???

    ahahahahahahhaa!!

  • drinking too much the other nyt?

  • i can't believe you retards( not all of you), it was a test shit heads, it was a yf-22

  • so thats what a $10.91 billion pos looks like

  • That one was a prototype. The F-22 is anything but a POS.

  • FYI that piece of shit can maintain control at 60knts and still roll 90deg per second so learn ur facts

  • heeeeey!! Ive seen this b4! Its when they were testing it right? And when the test pilot was gunna land, they had a malfunction, thats why the elevators are going crazy!

  • USAF = fail

  • Considering those planes can take out anything thrown at them, shut your mouth. USAF is top gun.

  • Concidering we train the USAF, they = fail so bite me

  • Wow u Suck B*** you are garbage and have no Idea what u are talking about You tard.

    USAF=BEST

  • Wow, real mature, if I have no idea what I'm talking about, why don't you fuckin prove it, if not, shut your mouth.

  • whos we ??? USAf has been powning in the aircraft field since pear harbor

  • @ilovealyssa9 Shut ur mouth

  • ....it was testing...

  • aaaaaaaaand thats why I like pancakes >_>

give me more pancakes... with sirup on top!

  • This is a test and only a test.. beep beep beep

  • dirty air in a desert, not saying it was the cause, but taking off in the desert during variable winds and heat can take skill. much less in a prototype plane that isn't dialed in on aerodynamics....

  • Yeah.. except it had nothing to do with aerodynamics or weather factors....dot...

Allegedly, computer malfunction sent it into a "violent oscillation." - Discovery channel.

  • The pilot was very skilled, and the action he took was a great choice .

  • this crash of a YF-22 happened in 1992

IT'S IS NOT UNUSUAL. when the F-15, F-14 and F-16 prototypes & early production models were being tested in the 1970s, they had plenty of crashes.

compared to other planes when they were new, the F-22 Raptor has had VERY FEW crashes.

  • WHAT A HELL

  • what a waste of 367 million dollars

  • Idiot.

  • This was a prototype YF-22 back in the early 1990's. Caused by uncontrolled vertical oscillation.

You won't see that with the supercomputer avionics on the F-22s.

  • i has a processor so old its not even in production yet 32-bit 25mhz not really supercomupter style processor is it

  • Ok. So what does that have to do with anything here?

  • waste of a perfect plane

  • incredible! looks like a flying saucer when it crashed! LoL.

  • you guys are just patriotic pathetic aviation nerds.

It crashed! So what?! Even if russian planes were better, who gives a shit...

  • this is a gay thing you posted

  • Mmmm, actually guys an F-22 has crashed once, when it was still under development, while it was landing.

And Comrade, I'm sure Russian planes never crash.

  • Yea.....You never see a Russian aircraft crash at an airshow.....HUH????!!!!????

  • It was sarcasm. Aimed at Comrade over there.

  • actually holywells theres tons of videos of su's crashing at airshows, your a fuckin idiot.

  • Thanks for the compliment...I guess you didn't notice that my comment was a very sarcastic remark !! Oh, well, anyhow, I'm a pilot also and have seen many Ruskie aircraft going down in a lot of airshows. Peace be with you, O Great Name Caller !!

  • Thats why we call this Craptor!

  • This is just a crash landing test, I wish the person who uploaded this video would make that clear in the desrciption.

  • you guys are stupid it was a basic durabillity test they do on all combat craft were they do belly lands without landing gears it was remote controlled

  • What? No one EVER deliberately bellies in a phenominally expensive flying prototype. If anything, you buils a separate test subject that isn't full of expensive goodies. I don't normally respond to old posts, but this is too much.

  • i am a pilot myself and to be honest the f-15 is awesome but the su-27 is an awesome dogfight capion that i think with right pilot could out manouever an f-15 in my opinion and i do fly them

  • And the right pilot sent from above is?

  • What unit do you fly for?

  • This was the prototype YF-22 crashing during a low-level flyby. A bug in the fly-by-wire software caused the control surface movements to lag a second or two behind the pilot's inputs, sending the plane in to oscillations which he had no time to recover from. The pilot walked away, but the project was set back several years as a result.

  • It crashed because of an error in the aircraft's software.

  • I might be wrong here but I read some where that this plane is the most expensive ever made, about $9,000,000,000, they have really got to start writing checks and a half melted visa card HAHA!!!

  • ROFL!! the US Army, lowest efficiency to cost ratio on the planet

  • You sir, are an idiot.

  • Well, its a good thing our planes are in the AIR FORCE.

  • hyper you are wrong 100% about the f15 being shot down that wasa F117. Stealth fighter. The reason why the where able to target it is because its only stealth from the front and sides. and the computer on the stealth would tell them how to fly around the radar sites so there was never one in range behind it. well it was a mobile SA site on a truck that shot it down. I have no clue where you got a F15. We did loose some F16s but again it was due to ground fire

  • No. I remember seeing this years ago on the news. The full footage showed the aircraft taking off and then once it was in the air, the ringing effect of a pilot trying to compensate for a failed avionics system. It took off, was uncontrollable and then crashed. Saying, "it's not a crash, it's an emergency landing", is just downright comical.

  • Brett, this F22 WAS taking off. According to the USAF. It was in testing phase and an avionics computer failed during take off. What does it matter whether it was taking off or landing? It crashed due to an obvious ringing problem. BTW, dariendeathwish, a USAF F-15 was shot down over Yugoslavia in 1999, by a Mig-29.

  • Yeah it was an avionics computer failing, Man I'm hooked on the discovery channel. ;) I'm glad some people also known the facts.

  • An F-15 has never been shot down in an air to air contest. The F-15 is considered the most dominate fighter aircraft in history because of it. It has over 200 air to air contests on record.

  • wrong typhoon owned your f-15's

  • F-22 is going to blow away every records the F-15 set.

  • WHAT A LIE!

  • Find one piece of evidence in which an F-15 has been shot down in an air contest. It has never happend. 200-0.

  • the F-15's kill record is 103-0

  • well an F-15j did kill an F-15j

  • lol yeah an F-15 made a landing with one wing not long ago

  • thats actually a hoax. What happened was a runway incursion

  • by the way to the poster of this vid, the aircraft was running through tests not taking off....

  • FYI a f15 has never been shot down by enemy fire while being flown by the us. and the indians are going to have to have a arforce cuz there going to be invaded by china. everyone knows that. also i dont think it has been shot down flying with the isrealies, then again every country they fought didnt have much of a airforce (eygpt was good, but got there ass kicked in the end)

  • he was making it jolt up and down on purpise wasnt he

  • No one like that F/A-18? Sure the F-16 50/52 and 60 blocks are good, but it's still old design with one dorsal and a single 29,000 thrust engine. Those who say the Russians have no air power;remember the SU37. Russias flaws aren't their craft,it's their training officers, or lack there of. Before a winged pilot can sit in a cock pit in the U.S,he has to have 300 hours and specific flight classes, and double that in simulator/test flight patterns before every attempting to drop live ordinance.

  • F18 may be good but the f15 and the f16 are better.even the f14 still a top fighter.but it will always depend on pilot conditions. And yeah the Eurofighter is bery advanced, but the f22 and Su35 rock`s

  • And yet with all this training you still see from past wars to present day when the enemy drop bombs the allies duck, when the brits drop bombs the enemy ducks, and when the americans drop bombs we all bloody duck

  • while that incident was shamefull in the gulf war episode 1. from what happened the brits advanced faster then the plan called for. shamefull the us should of had better contact with the brits but war is chaos. But now we all have transpoders on major equipment so things are better

  • What everyone has to realize is each plane has its own mission. While the F-15s and F-16s are second generation planes now I would still put them up against anything the Russians have. It comes down to the quality of pilot training and maintenance. The F-16 is a tactical bomber and excels at dogfights while the F-15 is an interceptor. The JSF will replace the F-16 but the newest block of F-16s has completely new avionics.

  • they didnt loase any because there stealth aircraft

  • this video was taking from the PBS documentory "FRONTLINE" and this was an accident in the testing faze of the f22

  • Eurofigthers are jokes, you said? Hey man, read the specs better, and you'll see why it is the most advanced fighter in the world today. Okay, it doesn't have years of experience like the f-15, butr still : supersonic without afterburner for the whole flight, carbom-fibre composite material, fastest accelerating fighter ever, 9-G continuous maneuver (not just for 5 seconds or so) capability, lock and fire missile just by the pilots eye looking at the target. Jokes? Think again!

  • P1 yeah will be nice once it actually works. Its not faster accelorating the the F15. The F22 and F35 and Super F18 all can supercruise as well. This is due to newer engines having a much higher bypass rate then the older ones.

  • P2 the USAF has been using carbonfiber/kevlar since the 1960s in their aircraft. The reason why you dont use composite on critical parts is because they suffer from fatauge quicker then titanuim. The airframe can take 9gs contiuosly as can the F15 its just the pilots cant not the airframe.

  • the F35 has yet to see combat and wont outperform a F15. The F35 is a budget fighter as was the F16.

EU the euro fighter and the dassault 2000 are both jokes. serious avionic issues Hense why many of them are buying the F35 ;-)

But a plane is just a plane and its still 90% pilot

  • eh themediocrity. Yes Russa has some amazing aircraft. But they will never see combat let alone production. not since the SU 27 and the Mig 29 as any completly new airframes came into production.

The su30 32 and 34 all are based off hte su27. And their avionics are all old.

  • And their avionics are all old ?

You stipid ? Chineses and Indians have bought Su3x and Mig29OVT.

    They have checked up all!

F15F16 distribute free of charge Cheh Rep. and Poland.

  • Nice. I still dig the F22, nothing ull beat USA!

  • the USA defo hav the best fighters around.. and thts coming from a scottish guy so tht means sumfn lol.. ma fave plane is the F-14 tomcat.. bt i lyk tha eurofighter anol

  • The F-14 went out of service on September 21, 2006.

  • AWESOME !!! :)

  • the F15 is the best fighter in full deployment. Total combat losses? NONE and well over 100 Kills. The only f15 to ever been shot down was a Japanese one which got shot down by his wing man. During training the missle shorted out and fired when it was soppose to be locked to the plane for a virtual kill. IE just get lock and say boom your dead buddy.

But for some reason after he got lock the missle went off

  • have to disagree with you on the f 15 being the best figher currently in deployment. Although it has a stellar record and what is still a great design its avionics are outdated and as a result newer, American, Russian and EU aircraft outperform it, often significantly.

  • actually it was not fly by wire failure. Thats a YF-22 which means its a prototype IE not a production aircraft.

What we saw was pilot induced ocillation. Its the same thing a car does when the driver over corrects you know skidding back and forth. Basically the pilot did a few to strong movements and came to a point where it was bucking so violently he lost controll. He saved the plane and it was repaired

  • correct.

  • I remember seeing this on the news, many years ago. It was blamed on an avionics system failure then. Although everything I can find now, blames this on pilot induced oscillation or a combination of that with avionics failure. It does not amaze me that an incorrect version of events can become the dominant one on the Internet though. I've been involved with plenty of incidents which made it to the news (including military) and NONE, over 20 years have been correctly reported.

  • The pilot was holding the nose down to maintain low altitude on a fly-by with the gear down. When he retracted the gear, the thrust vectoring automatically kicked in which resulted in the crash (pilot walked away). As a result, the thrust vectoring system is no longer controlled by the gear position.

  • hahahahah!!! they 1.. yes thts 1 raptor up agenst 5 f-15 eagles.. the best air/air fighter.. and the raptor shot all 5 down.. how the fuck is sum soviet pish plane gonna beat that u dick head?

  • F-15 the best air fighter? You got to be kidding. Search google to find how the Indian Air Force in their joint Airforce exercises with the USAF in 2005-2006 had a kill ratio of 10:1 using "sum soviet pish plane"

  • yeh m8 it was the best air fighter when the f-22 was being made.. in desert storm they won sumfn lyk 999 battles nd didnt lose 1 aircraft.. so if u put 1 raptor up agenst 5 eagles thts gonna be pretty hard 2 survive let alone shoot them all down.. and the raptor did do this.. i dnt give a fuck bout the soviets shyt excuse 4 a plane coz if u put a su- wotever up agenst a raptor the raptor will win

  • 99 battles lol*

  • That was F15A with the shitty Radar and only short range missles. Not one F15 has ever been lost on combat.

  • No, the plane was completely filled with all the avionics and such, that crash was not meant to happen. They were NOT testing to see how the plane could land w/o landing gear....lockheed does that.

  • it was probably stripped like hell if that was a test. im sure they didnt want to waste all of its equipment to see that it can crash good...

  • That's a loooooooot of money that just went skidding down the runway.

  • The F-22A is entring serves this mouth and is not a prototype.

  • Im guessing this is a test on how it lands without wheels? the wing steered to the ground and the camera is all high framed

  • look its a rawkit sled

  • Sorry I mean YF-22 not YF-23. F/A-22 is new one. This is prototype.

  • f/a 22 is my favorite plane and i know that the pilot did that on purpose for some reason

  • Pilot didn't die, he got a repremand apparently. One of my colleagues was working as a consultant with some of the test flight engineers. The pilot had flown around fine, but tried a low pass down the runway. The flight control software had not been implemented for ground effect flight and the pilot was unable to manually control the aircraft because it is naturally unstable. Pilot repremanded because he knew this and tried the low pass anyway!

  • Wow..the F-22 is a P.O.S.

  • So, software in a plane which is still is testing has a bug, but it makes the whole thing BS? Try testing a beta version of a game and look at its problems.

  • YF-23 prototype. Not the F/A-22... I think the crash had to do with issues of thrust vectoring? Some software error?

  • it the f/a 22

  • No, its a YF-22.

  • He must of survived. the mig 29 did this whilst trying to land but he survived

  • did he die?

  • looks like an emergency landing...not a takeoff. you can see him coming down with the VASI right behind him...nice video though noobie

  • ok every prototype has a name whats the name is it a raptor (which looks oddly like one just bigger) or maybe a new failed hybrid type?

  • holy crap. thats... a little unlucky to say the least

  • That aint no F/A 22, it was the prototype.
