From dark brown hair to Blonde in 9 months

This could have been done a lot quicker. All you would have had to do was bleach your hair all over and then tone it with an ash or violet blonde, depended on how much red/gold was still left in it. It would have actually been healthier for it the coloring it 9 times!

As a trained hairdresser, I didn't find this BORING at all! This shows how DIFFICULT it is to change from a dark colour to light. I'm part way through changing from red to blonde (thought it would be a good idea for Christmas!). Daughter now is going from a dark red/brown to blonde. It is a killer! Make no mistake, Light to dark is easy, the reverse is a NIGHTMARE! Black and red are the WORST colours to get rid of because of the molecules in the dye!

you look great with blonde hair but if you take advice style it straight...curly hair makes you look fat and old, also teasing it to so big but taking it out from your face makes your pretty face look bigger because it loses frame

That's a large gap to become blonde.

I went from dark chocolate brown hair to almost platinum blonde in less than a month.

My hair is healthy too. Didn't snap or break or feel like straw.

Honestly this is a large waste of time.

I bleached whit foil technique,and they did broke off. That tells me if I did bleach the whole head, all hair would of brake off.

uhm yeahhh I do hair and it really didn't need to take 9 months unless you were uncertain which shade you wanted more.

if you would have done a full head of thinly threaded foil highlights and dyed whatever wasn't in the foils about 3 to 4 levels lighter you could have been blonde in one day. lol

it would look healthier too because you aren't constantly dying you hair it's more of just touching up the roots and not really touching the rest.

and I have dark brown hair as well naturally.

Just two questions, and they may be a stupid question since I'm a newbie:

So each month, you colored your hair a couple of levels lighter as the base, then bleached big chunks on the top for highlights?

And if this is a gradual process, doesn't that mean your new roots will be at step one and require full on bleaching to match the color at the ends?

from my experience, highlighting over and over to acheive a blonde look does more damage, because the same areas get colored month after month. i went from brown to blonde in one day at a salon and had much better results than taking a few months to gradually build all my highlights into one blonde head of hair. just my thoughts! hope your hair is doing well, it looks nice

I did the highlights every 3 months and pulled the ends out from the foil /At least every other ones/. That aplication saves the hair ends.I hope your hair still doing well also.

I have another question, though. I want to bleach my hair to a pale yellow, so I can tone it silver/gray. I have unprocessed, overly porous, curly, mocha brown hair, which is a shade lighter than chocolate, so I guess it must be either a level 3 or 4.

Should I lighten my hair gradually by getting full heavy highlights until I'm a level 8½ like you did over a course of several months? And then bleach it to pale yellow from there? Would that be less damaging than putting my hair through three to four regular bleach sessions? I want to know the gentlest way to lift my hair to pale yellow. Since you're a cosmetologist, could you tell me the gentlest and least damaging way to take level 3-4 curly hair to a pale yellow?

For now, leave the bottom dark,tell to the hairstylist to section a sqere on the top, and color it whit 12 level special highlift color and 40% H2O2.Than highlight it whit foil and bleach.That look will give you total blonde look and nobody will cheking it underneath.:-) When you color next, use on the bottom 1 level lighter color each time. Yeah I know I did also, when the costumers was "in a hurry".Also the firts time I did my hair whit 3 aplication, and I learned that it dries up, and have to cut it short.I dont take your comment wrong way, thanks for it

Yes, I am a hairdresser, and learned about haircolor does not lift haircolor.So someone showed to me the sprinkleing".I mix the one level lighter color,and taking whit my fingers from the bleach can a little amount, and just like "baking" whit powder sugar, and mix it together.Your hair only needs it on the black area, the other area needs an other color.I recomend you to stay brown on the bottom half, and blonde on top, until its settles.I use Goldwell and Ion products.Careful whit bleach.

Not recomended to try it at home, but also you can try out a Beauty suply sells to the public, and gladly gives advise.You have to get the products /color , bleach, H2O2/ from there anyway.I did use color remover before.Will come out a medium orange color, and then you have to color it brown.See my new slideshow Bleached and toned2 I hope I was helpful.

Thanks for your comment.I have grey on the top also, and the blonde hair is the closest color match to it.So I colored the back and the side brown, and a bowl size on the top blonde.Than I got 12 foil on the row on the blonde, and tone them.I start to use silver blue shampoo from Rusk to get the brassiness out.Try blonde from the temple area, the lenght and texture is not a problem, if you have dark hair, you have to bleach it. It's could be done whit couple of bleaching, say in one day. It's will be dried and demaged.Not promiced it will survive it.Just to color it lighter and each time and highlighting it and using a lot of conditioner will keep the hair healthy and same lenght and shiny.I have an other video calleed Bleached and toned.I bleached the hair when was alredy blonde thisway did not have to leave it on long.

Not in one setting, if you are not a hairstylist, it's cost a lot.Every other time 30%,ION brand name has the highlight 11 level.

Yes I did the highligth whit bleach and foil and 30%. Also for lowlights I did the color 10 and HL 11 and 30% and I did put a littlebit of bleach/Kaleidocolor/ into the color mix.Color does not lift color, but thisway it does!Not too many people does that.Thisway it's easier to keep the hair healthy.Feel free to ask, Thanks.

I did "sprinkleing" my haircolor whit any brand of offscalp bleach and 30%.The color mix was one shade lighter than the privius.Than each time I got some foil whit Goldwell brand and 30%.

Cheap lightener demaging the hair,good only for "sprinkleing".

Have to use Goldwell color care shampoo and conditioner,or the one your hair is requires.Many products available at Beaty shops such is "shine",or wax.Far is brandnames, Aveda also very good, Rusk, Redken,KMS.

Take good care of your hair even natural way, such is lemon,and vinegar and water rinse.:-)
