Just wondering what age some of the perple are in this. Not the actual actors but the characters. Particularly the twisted sisters (Pratts) and Miss Dorcas. Where would you place them?

Damn, Ruby is utterly hopeless. The first time she demonstrates any compassion whatsoever, and she chooses to award it to the most vile man ever to enter Candleford.

As for Caroline, just how many chances does she expect?

Interesting how the sisters live up to the meanings of their true names - Prudence and Ruth. I almost felt sympathy for them until they chose to humiliate Laura.

I felt sorry for Caroline, but worse for her children. They don't deserve to suffer. Poor Alfie, being left alone to care for the rest.

Everyone is saying that caroline deserves to go to jail but I really do not agree. Even the producers of the series clearly want to demonstrate the unfairness of it all at the end by showing how the real criminal and deceiver walks on, free. When a pregnant woman who is abandoned by her husband and has to take care of 4? children, who has some petty debts because she drinks just to forget her troubles for a moment is being taken away.

Your priorities are messed up to be honest.

I LOVE this series!

Poor Alfie. he works so hard and his mum just spends it all, she kinda deserves to go to jail.

And poor sisters, I really hated their father's voice at the end.

Even though I liked Caroline and didn't want her going to prison, but she did get what she deserved. Second, the music to this series doesn't seem to fit it at all. This music should be matched up to some Italian mafia movie, not to 19th century English country life! Third, poor Ruby and Pearl, I feel so sorry for them.
