People get a life !! The guy is trying to show you something useful !! yes it should work.the arrow on the diode has to point to battery side. the only, and very important thing he forgot to mention is , what size resistor to use. other than that do not criticize . please. Thanks charger guy. you made more sense than all other videos !!!!
So it is a 5.1V zener diode, a zener diode is like a normal diode except to the way wich a normal diode doesnt let the current flow, a zener diode lets it flow IF the voltage is high, in this case it is 5.1V. and the resistor is there to eat up the leftover voltage from the battery. 5.1V to the zener, 3.9V to the resistor.
Thanks mate! This is very useful info. I may try this out I think I already have some resistors, just need to get a diode now. Battery life on modern mobile phones isn't so great and external battery packs like the New Trent Extreme IMP1000 tend to be a little expensive. I may try this with two 9v batteries connected in a small box or maybe 6 AA batteries. Will also be able to try using high capacity rechargeable batteries too.
lol you're def from ny

One small correction. I believe that a diode only lets electricity pass through one way and you said either way works, but good video.

hey fella thanks for the vid.. very interesting i will try it on my iphone

actually, wouldnt be considered scams, since they arent charging you to watch a bogas vid. more like wastes of time.
i do appreciate the validity of this vid tho, and have learned what a diode does. TY! =)
ive been trying to find a video on a hand crank cell charger.
then after ur video, figured out a more practical version.
could you do a tutorial on a hand crank battery charger?
the battery can then be used in the device you have shown here =)

dude, your vid sucks. if you want to instruct thousand for understanding you need to do it from scratch

what is the ohm rating on the resister you used? Did you place the resistor closer to Vin or Vout?
baron0583 1 year ago
Just use the smaller oneI think it is 1/4
