Jerry's brother Mike had a light heavy fight with Bob Foster on the under card prior to this fight. Poor ol' Mike took a whipping and some people in the press claimed that Jerry watched and it took the heart out of him.
Personally, I think that's a lot of bull. It's pretty obvious to me watching this again after all the years that Ali was the one was the one doing heart surgery.

Joe Louis was the greates, but Ali was more influencial. As for Quarry, what a HORRIFIC story for his entire family. He and his brother are in the grave and spent a terrible ordeal getting there. Quarry is why I gave up on boxing. Horror story, pure and simple.

Ali fought (and won) against several fighters who were bigger and/or taller than him - Chuck Wepner is the first that comes to mind.
Ali solidified his superior boxing skills over Wepner by landing a right in the 15th that dang near sent him out of the ring.
But I agree with you in that MOST of Ali's opponents had a size, height and/or reach disadvantage (not to mention hand speed and skill).
