I just happened to find you today and couldn't be happier. I hated tuna casserole when I was growing up and have never prepared it. However, this looks absolutely delish & can't wait to make it. I am sure the parmesan cheese makes a huge differance. BTW I found your site looking for healthy wings. Love the idea and will be using boneless chicken breast this weekend!! :)))
I NEVER have big enough pots to make things i see on here!! I don't care I'm going to get the ingredients right now to make this!!!! I'm in Sweden currently so its almost dinner time :)........ I love your hair by the way!! subscribed!
Now that is a tuna casserole I think I could eat. Have only seen a can of tuna dumped into a box of mac & cheese, far from appetizing in my opion. The white albacore in spring water seems to be more mild so might try that. Never been a big tuna fan or most fish. After having whooping cough 45 yrs ago one of the old dr remedies was 2 tablespoons of cod liver oil. I can sniff out the slightest fishy smell from 100 yrds away. LOL Another was Creoturpine which had turpentine in it. Awful awful
@KissHope Hi, Hope! I don't really like fish, either, but I eat canned tuna fish for lunch every day, and I like it in casseroles. (Strange.) Thanks for your great comment--I like the idea of using albacore tuna.
I've been craving comfort type food, so my go to recipe was tuna casserole. Wish I'd seen yours. The cheese sauce looks so yummy! Next tuna casserole made will be this one!
I added some chopped Green Bellpepper, some chopped Sweet Onion, some tomatoe, some pimentos, and some paprika to mine, and substituted some shredded chedder cheese for the parmesian, and goat's milk for the cow's milk, then covered the casserole with some bread crumbs before I baked it.
@SinnFein4ever The Tropical orange Chiffon Pie sounds wonderful; no, I have never made one. That sounds like great comfort food. It is really hot here in KY (in the 90's F), but our herb garden is doing fine so far!
@SinnFein4ever Sorry to hear about your new tomato plant. Remy is doing fine; he found a dead rabbit in the yard, so he keeps wanting to go to that spot!
@SinnFein4ever Yes, a terrier would be out of there in no time. Remy is so docile that we let him go out alone, and 2 minutes later he's scratching the door, wanting back in--he's very spoiled!
@SinnFein4ever He has always been like that when we take him out. And, when people come over to the house, he does like to sniff them, but then he is quiet and leaves everyone alone.
@SinnFein4ever Part of the fun of going to festivals and to the farmer's market is being able to take your dog. He's name Remy, because Remy is a French name and he is a French poodle!
Thanx for this simple recipe :) I added a cup of Shredded Cheddar to the sauce and seasoned bread crumbs on top....will definately be using this recipe again!
Hi Betty, Im from Spain and your videos here are being commented all over the place, some chefs introduced this tuna casserole recipe to their menus and are succeeding tremendously. Have you thought about opening a restaurant here? you will be so succesful with your creative recipes and your communication skills.
Betty...I tried this recipe a couple of days ago and it is gooood...I added a little to this recipe by making some seasoned bread crumbs to top it with when I baked it... I just put 3 pieces of toast in a food processor with a little garlic salt and parmesan and it made a really tasty and cruchy topping...this recipe is definitely going into my arsenal..checking out your channel I noticed you have many recipes that I'm interested in so I subscribed...keep the good food coming!!
Oh, my gosh.. I tried this tonight (without the peas, cuz I don't care for them, haha), and it was soooo good!!! I wanted to eat it all before I baked it.. Thank you so much!! :)
@cahayaungu Yes, Cheddar cheese will be fine! I was uploading several casseroles--tuna, chicken, ham, roast beef, etc., and I was just picking a different cheese for each type of casserole. You may use any cheese that you like!
Too bad you are married you have way too much cooking talent. I learn every time I watch and then try one of your recipes. I thoroughly enjoy your videos and have recommended them to others.
Oh that looks sooo yummy, Betty - thanks for sharing!! I just learned about a French technique called "Beurre manié" ("kneaded butter"), used for thickening soups & sauces.... by kneading equal amounts soft butter & flour together, pieces of it can be whisked into a heated liquid, so that the flour particles are released as the butter melts = no lumps!
I was looking for a very simple, straight forward recipe similar to the way my Mom used to make it back in the 70s and found this. She would use the more traditional cream of mushroom soup but I prefer the cheese sauce.
I followed the recipe very closely and it came out very nicely.

Corn does sound great! I have several casseroles--tuna, ham, chicken, beef, and I use noodles, a cheese sauce of some type, and a vegetable of some type. Corn would do well in any of them! Thanks for the idea!
I definitely will try that! I have never heard of that before, but it sounds wonderful. I think it will give the casserole just the zing that it needs! Thanks for a great tip!
thanks for doing this betty! i have a school food project to make tuna pasta bake and I didnt have a clue how to do it with other website, but seeing you do it has let me understand how!
Cook them for about 6 to 8 minutes after they return to a boil. It's not really important that they be done all the way, because they are going to continue to cook in the oven. Thanks for your question!
I'm excited. I've never had this dish before. I usually eat fastfood. But I'm gonna start cooking dishes next week. This is now on the menu for monday.
I typically use separate measuring cups for each ingredient. Sometimes I measure an ingredient, and then put it in a small bowl and then the measuring cup is free for measuring something else. I don't usually use the same cups for both dry and wet ingredients. Thanks for your question!

I like to experiment.
Sometimes I'm even crazy enough to try an experiment the first time that I make a recipie!
Although I'm not quite confindent enough yet, to try to tackle your Dole Pineapple Easter Cake recipie.
So I made a Tropical Orange Chiffon Pie for dessert, instead (Have you ever made one?).
Mom's been sick, so I wanted to make her some comfort food.
We're having a freakinsh heatwave here.
I hope that it hasn't taken a toll on your garden.
SinnFein4ever 7 months ago
@SinnFein4ever The Tropical orange Chiffon Pie sounds wonderful; no, I have never made one. That sounds like great comfort food. It is really hot here in KY (in the 90's F), but our herb garden is doing fine so far!
Take care,
--Bettty :)
bettyskitchen 7 months ago
@bettyskitchen
Would you like the recipie?
(It's very simple)
It was 103 degrees Farenheight here the other day.
Fourtunatly today isn't so bad.
It's only supposed to get up to 100.
So much for my plans for doing yardwork.
I'm glad that your garden is doing well.
The heat here killed my new tomato plant.
How is Remy?
SinnFein4ever 7 months ago
@SinnFein4ever Sorry to hear about your new tomato plant. Remy is doing fine; he found a dead rabbit in the yard, so he keeps wanting to go to that spot!
Have a great day!
--Betty :)
bettyskitchen 7 months ago
@bettyskitchen
Did he bring the dead rabbit to you as a "present"?
SinnFein4ever 6 months ago
@SinnFein4ever He tried, but we were able to keep him away from it, and we removed it.
--Betty :)
bettyskitchen 6 months ago
@bettyskitchen
Oh my.
Well it's the thought that counts, I suppose.
How in the world did a dead rabbit get in your yard?
If your yard is fenced in, it couldn't have been another dog (unless someone in your neighborhood owns a New Guinea Singing Dog).
I'd think that if it were killed by a wild animal like a raccoon, the animal would have either taken, or eaten the carcass.
Perhaps a cat?
SinnFein4ever 5 months ago
@SinnFein4ever Our yard is unfenced, so we get all sorts of creatures--which Remy, of course, loves!
--Betty :)

Ha ha ha ha ha ha!
My sister and her husband could never have their yard unfenced.

Also Poodles are rated as one of the top ten most intelligent dog breeds.

Such a sweet little dog.
My mother's Poutuguese Waterdog is a bit shy around strangers at first, but ussually warms up to them after a few minutes.
She's never been to the farmers' market, though, as dogs were banned from it before I started going.
Did you name him after the charachter on the TV series "Remington Steele"?

Does it work well with tabassco sauce?
WaltDisneySG 2 years ago
I haven't tried it with Tabasco sauce, but if you like the combination, that might be a good addition!

i would add corn instead of peas. but looks great.
Prawnlet 2 years ago
Corn does sound great! I have several casseroles--tuna, ham, chicken, beef, and I use noodles, a cheese sauce of some type, and a vegetable of some type. Corn would do well in any of them! Thanks for the idea!

Betty,
I have been making Tuna cassarole for 20 years+
You do a good job and it looks great.
I always put a little mild banana pepper juice in it to give it some zing...it works well with the tuna flavor...try it youll like it.
LamboGil 2 years ago
I definitely will try that! I have never heard of that before, but it sounds wonderful. I think it will give the casserole just the zing that it needs! Thanks for a great tip!

MLIchick 2 years ago

betty, how long do you cook the bow ties for?
bolillo239 2 years ago
Chris,
Cook them for about 6 to 8 minutes after they return to a boil. It's not really important that they be done all the way, because they are going to continue to cook in the oven. Thanks for your question!

I'm excited. I've never had this dish before. I usually eat fastfood. But I'm gonna start cooking dishes next week. This is now on the menu for monday.
Thanks for the recipe. Dan

Do you use the same cups for both dry and wet ingredients
or do you use dry measuring cups for dry ingredients??
warriorbourne 2 years ago
I typically use separate measuring cups for each ingredient. Sometimes I measure an ingredient, and then put it in a small bowl and then the measuring cup is free for measuring something else. I don't usually use the same cups for both dry and wet ingredients. Thanks for your question!
