Should be on the cambelt cover. The engine according to the volvo naming definitions is a B5244S - 5 cylinders, 2.4 (2435CC), 4 valves per cylinder with S meaning petrol.
Renault refer to this car as a B52 (no doubt you can see the similarity) but they call the engine itself an N7U but there are 2 variants - the 701 and 702.
@AnOm75 Yup, but Renault actually refer to this variant of the Safrane as the B54F too. They use it to identify not only the chassis type but the actual variant of the Safrane not just the engine. Admittedly in my earlier reply the B52 thing was probably a late night blunder on my part... my bad whoops! Fantastic cars, utterly reliable as long as they're looked after but just rather tricky to get some repairs done to them.
All Safranes had negative rear wheel steering. It felt like the car would almost do a tiny rear lurch and then corner tighter and grip forever on a long corner!
The cambelt is no big drama, my dad changed one on a 2.0 which is the same as the 2.5 just one less cylender. No need to remove the engine!
Contact a Volvo specialist, explain that it has the Volvo engine as the do not all know.
I may have a pdf on changing belt, I'll have a look. send me your email.
wow nice man i never knew these cars were so equepped with so much stuff u know if the french and a jamews bond he would use this car nice one man good vid
I'm not interested in getting a new car but I wanna say you congratulations for such a good video, really artistic and technic, shows that's not just any car.

Did your safrane have the back wheel steering?
I think Renault call it "Multi link point geometry"
Also do you know where I can get info for cam belt replacement? - 2 mechanics tried both failed!
Definately the finest car Renault ever made. Avantime, vel satis and lag don't come anywhere close!
Highly recommended (though expensive to run). These cars are simply a beast of fury on the road with Volvo engines in them!

Can I ask how much the car eventually sold for?
With video editing like that it must of made a small fortune...

r25Limousine, i Luv your video! I am a big fan of the 2.5 liter 5 cylinder engine (just love the sound!).
Can you tell me, what's the song you use in you video? Tnx!
CrazyBertman 4 years ago
I loved this can, I really mis it! The 2.5 engine was unique! Same as in the Focus ST. The track that I used was Prodigy, 'You'll be under my wheels'

Thanks for the track!
And i love your Safrane. I have the same 2.5 liter engine in my Volvo ;-) Its delicious. I hope you find a good buyer for your car.
