ArmyWives 101 Lesson 2 : Understanding Pay & Reading an LES

Is it easy for my military husband to add dep. on his LES? Becasue on the part of his LES on the bottom it says 9 Depns. So basically he have 9 dependents right?

Military pay for family is the biggest BS in all the military , as a single solider i'm treated as a second class citizen, subjected to random room inspection. Not to mention the doubling of pay for no extra other than fact that they are married. No else in America is anyone paid so much more for being married. I hate this rule all i want is same work same pay is that is all i ask.

@maximus2215 I totally understand, but soldiers really dont get paid for having a family. This is a big misconception. They get BAH if they live offpost which in our case all went to rent. If they are deployed they get family separation which is only $250 . I think you guys should be paid more period though. At the same token you live in the barracks technically for free and dont pay just as we dont , so keep that in mind. Thanks for commenting :)

@dreswifey25 I am force to live in the barracks because i dont have a family want to make thing fair have you and your husband try living barrack s and subject to random room inspections and see how you like it. Not trying to be rude or anthing but you guys have it much better than us ok ive been in for 5 years im an E5. And by the way soldiers do get paid for have a family there different dependent BAH and single BAH dont tell me you guys dont get paid for being married,

@maximus2215 Ok let me just clarify when you live onpost you dont get BAH . You just get to live in housing. yes when your married you get BAH but its one set rate and chances are if you live offpost you still have to pay rent. So you might get to pocket some BAH but it's not hardly as much as you think. I have lived on and offpost before I am quite aware of the rules. Contract marriages never last anyway!

Who said you live for free, I mean it might be crappy treatment at times but that's not my fault, take that up with your command hun. If people would take the time to understand how the pay system works and stop classifying BAH as extra money then I wouldn't have to spend ½ my time trying to explain it. JUST LIKE YOU WHEN SOLDIERS WITH DEP LIVE ONPOST WE DOOOO NOT GET ANY BAH. Housing takes it !

@dreswifey25 Listen i am really sorry i know your trying to do a good thing here im just trying to be as honest as i can be another thing if you guys didn't get paid more there wouldn't be so many contract marriages if you cant afford your rent your living above your means you guys need to take a look at your finances, and you guys arent prisoner in your homes so until till you live in the barracks and subject to three random room inspection a week dont tell me we live here for free
