  • oh I thought the baby was cold and you were warming her up w the dryer lmbo

  • or a boobie.

  • hmmm, noise of crying baby versus noise of hairdryer.....

  • I always vacuum.

  • what?? nair dryer??

what?? it's gonna makes my baby more crying..hahaha lol!

It is suitable for cold climates country, right?

  • ya gonna love that electric bill

  • Haha now I regret not owning a hair dryer

  • It's called "White Noise", for some reason it is plesant for the baby to here and is comforting. Usually white noise is exhibited in vaccum cleaners, blow-driers, etc.

  • oh great! the first baby snuff film, you people are sick

  • Why does that work?

  • @mercyhurstchic It works because a hair dryer, or even a loud Shuussh noise that you make right into the ear of an infant, mimics the sound that the baby was constantly surrounded by in the womb, the mothers circulatory system. It's really loud in there, up to 80-90 decibels, so the quiet is scary and strange for a newborn. It's has to be loud like a hair dryer because the baby's ear drums aren't fully developed yet, so they can't hear as well as we can. Read "The Happiest Baby on the Block."

  • @ema629 Really? :D

Didn't know that! I'm gonna do some research!THANKS!

  • @SenhorCroft Yeah. The worst thing I think you can do with a newborn is have a completely silent house. They are used to constant noise, constantly being held snug, and motion. Laying them in their silent nursery in a crib is really weird for them. So swaddle them tight, carry them around or put them in a swing, and run the vacuum or some other white noise like that and you will have a happy newborn. "The Happiest Baby on the Block" by Dr. Karp, is a great book! There's youtube videos on it too.

  • @ema629 Thank you so much this was definitely helpful. Thanks ema629!

  • @SenhorCroft No problem! I'm happy to help.

  • So your telling people to turn on a damn hair dryer and leave it running?!?!?! PLEASE don't do that find something else to create "white noise."

  • awwwwwwww ahahawwww

  • Really good Video. But you should of explained what to do. Are we supposed to guess?

The Hairdryer Noise Calms the baby because the baby being in the womb nine months has got used to the noises of the outside world. The background sound relaxes her so she is back to normal again.

You could also sing, put a lullaby or Even Turn on a Fan. Noise Calms babies. So the silence calms us.

    Nice Vid. Hope this helps.

  • A HAIR DRYER REALLY?

  • A HAIR DRYER REALLY?

  • this blows!

  • See the biggest Threat to Parental Rights see on this site Documentry..........Deconstructing America

  • vacuum works too

  • casey anthony? you must not have children, and not understand how the process works. The sound is very self soothing to babies. If you have not been through this, and aren't a parent then you shouldn't even respond.

This very much so does in face work. :)

  • I recommend to all skeptical people to search on youtube for the following "The Happiest Baby on the Block - Richard & Judy", see why the hair-dryer, the vacuum cleaner, the wind, the water falling sound calm the baby. Good luck with calming the baby!

  • yeah this is great. make a baby think he's back in the womb aka not even born and alive in the real world.

  • maybe the outside wind will do

  • torturous... she needs interactions not a distraction

  • it sounds like the rain.. now I know why my son suddenly sleeps when the rain pours down. :)

  • vacuum cleaners work WONDERS tooo for a last resort. But al smartphones have a white noise app. OMG I USED IT SOOO MANY TIMES!!

  • sounds like the plane

  • We have a three-month-old colicky baby so I made a 16 track white noise CD to calm her down. She sleeps night and day (without any problems) while the sounds play on repeat. Now, the only time she cries is when she's either hungry or needs to be changed.

  • Here is a cool tip:

When your baby won't stop crying after trying all the methods at home... put them in their car-seat and go around the block a few times. They'll quiet down ( because of the sound and motion) and then fall asleep within 5-10 minutes. Now, bring the baby back in quietly and put him/her in the crib. We've done this several times with our baby and it's worked like a charm.

    Happy parenting and good luck!

  • Yeah....I Do the same thing With Burritos....

  • This was good under 2months but over it won't work &thats another thing when Mu son was this lil his cry was very quiet,&didn't cry much(diseatful) but now my son is 9months&loud &crys all the time shit he's cryin right now

  • I think it doesn't work cos you can't turn on the dryer whole night, once the dryer is off, he/she'll start crying again, so this is not a good solution

  • actually it took 21 seconds......

  • Damn I actually leaned back for a minute and listened to that blow dryer and it was hella calming. Made me feel relaxed

  • Thats why some people still fall asleep to white noise, myself included!

  • omg wow this actually work thank you so much

  • Not good-too loud for a baby, and starts a a lifetime of hearing damage.

  • I USE THE SAME SOUND EFFECT TO GET MY TRIPLETS TO SLEEP AT NIGHT I HVE THE WHITE NOISE CD...IT ACTUALLY WORKS REALLY WELL

  • That's cool!!!

  • @345greg...... Casey Anthony much??? You sick twisted bitch.....

  • This is one that I know for sure everyone got wrong. The reason why babies stop crying is because the sound of a hairdryer, or vacuum sounds differently to a baby than a grown adult. The bones in an infant's ears are so small that the sound of the dryer sounds like tinkling or the best way I can describe it is (sparkly).

I know because I have been to the ear doctor and they say that my hearing is very acute. The bones in my ears have never grown and they are as small as an infants.

  • Isn't it too loud for a baby? I can remember, that I didn't like the hair dryer because it was so loud...

  • @AngelOfLove1989 u vacuum don't u? same effect, it's like white noise to them, similar to what it sounded like in the womb

  • magic!

  • it took way longer then 15 seconds!

  • @GetMauled72 no, it took from the 0:11 minute, till exactly the 0:26 minute.

  • ühm_ÄñyOÑé_wÄNnÄ_chát_wÌth_mË_Ì_fËel_sõ_lÕNély_tôDÂy┌

  • just to clear out my "angry" message, it was meant for people who don't have babies at home but still do not agree with this method and make lots of fun upon it...those are really stupid ones...sorry for the incovenience, didn't mean to offend people that are not parents...see a doctor's opinion(Dr. Harvey Karp), search on Youtube for Happiest Baby on the Block..

    good luck with your babies!

  • A tape recording of a vacuum cleaner will work also, same sound. It really does work.

  • weird method!!!

  • @tastycajun I have a two-year-old and a three-month-old. I tried breastfeeding and even expressing milk. Seeing as neither of my daughters would take the milk, it was a decision between formula feeding them or letting them starve. Which is better in your opinion? My first daughter is a daddy's girl but she always knows Mommy is right there for her. My second daughter is already super attached to me. The key to bonding is SPENDING TIME WITH THE BABY. Breastfeeding is not the only way.

  • yea they like that sound or da sound of water. that sounds like water. my baby loved it wen he was that young but how to put a 4 month to sleep? help quick!

  • I think this method here works even better w.youtube.com/watch?v=rrpJUrEnaZA

  • Awesome! I just did this right now to my 2 week baby girl! And she's asleep...

  • WHAT'S WITH THE BLOW DRYER??

  • @ilovetayhanson4ever I agree. Maybe it DID help the baby, but I'd rather try something that will soothe us BOTH, and not rack my nerves in the process. I have nature sounds like running stream and stuff like that so that's probably what I'd listen to. I don't even mind the heartbeat; I've actually played that on my spa sleep sound thing to sooth ME!

  • It's amazing what different things can calm a baby. Breastfeeding, swaddling (a top choice for many parents), white noise, or certain visual stimuli can all help babies calm down. The tricky part is trying to find which one(s) works! My mom told me that my dad would hold me up (after I could hold my head up of course) with one hand and fly me around like an airplane and make the noise affect and that would calm me down LOL

  • They sell white noise machines. For my daughter I had classical music playing constantly in our room, even at night. That way silence never bothered her.

  • @sarahaudrey03 Oh, my sister played Kenny Loggins' "Return to Pooh Corner" album every night when my nieces were younger. I don't know if she still does; maybe it's nature sounds or something but it's been a long time since I've heard his album whenever I was visiting and the girls were in bed.

  • these women are using blow dryers so much that even their babies are addicted to the sound.

  • They should have shown what happened as soon as he turned it off. Probably went right back to wailing. e___e;

  • that's horrible 345 greg you are a terrible person for saying that

  • awhe youre frying his brain :)

    poon & zi :D

  • Wow!!! She's beautiful:-)

  • beautiful baby......

  • i just though it out a windo

  • @3031607 nise speelin, i allmost fergot how too speel windo and though. thanx.

  • Why doesn't it say, "How we calmed our baby in 15 seconds"?

Not all babies are the same. In fact, some can even be frightened by the loud sound.

    You sure like to generalize.

  • @KMHayden Well duh, they assume that people have the common sense to know this would not work for all babies..

  • @briglls Well you know what happens when you assume.

  • Maybe it reminds her of mommy in the shower when she was inutero? Hmmm.... I gotta start remembering what I do now so we can have something like that lol

  • she is going to be a hell of a pilot

  • The best thing I've found for my God Daughter is to lay her between my knees and hum while gently bouncing her. Apparently the hoover downstairs would shut me up

  • wine tasting method-->make the sippy sounds and it works. japanese people are using it.

  • So what your saying is you drown the noise out with something loud.

  • Wow.... :D

  • its easy to stop a newborn from crying, wait till they get older and this is the first baby girl ive seen with hair other than mine lol

  • you stupid people with no babies around, the sound is called "white noise", similar to what the baby hears in the womb, this is why they calm down...live and learn!

  • @mihaela1982 white noise = gaussian noise .......too much statistics.

  • @mihaela1982 We can tell people these things without belittling them. I didn't know these things either, and it doesn't matter what we know or don't know, only that we're WILLING to learn. And some of us don't have any babies around because we're single college students with very little, if any, opportunity to interact with babies. When my (youngest) sister had her daughter (at SIXTEEN) and told me how she knew why she was crying, she didn't do it by calling me stupid!

  • @Lavenderrose73 i have just responded, didn't mean to offend you or any other people that are not parents yet..sorry if you got that wrong

  • @mihaela1982 @mihaela1982 Well, for what it's worth, I've got bigger issues to deal with and I'm not one for grudges to begin with. I personally just like any variety of pointers I can get so if I DO have any children later (or if my best friend does, who has someone she might marry), I can pass on whatever I get from others. I'm not bugged about THIS; that's what my History and Government classes are for!

  • @mihaela1982 why are you so angry...Gosh!

  • @Muslimprincess79 i have just responded

  • @mihaela1982

she is not in the womb any more....

    she does not need it

  • @philosophyheal i agree.

  • @philosophyheal

The period up until 3 months of age it's called by specialists the fourth trimester, she is still being considered a fetus, please search for videos and articles with and by Dr. Harvey Karp. Some newborns don't need but some adapt harder to the outside world so you need to follow some steps to make them feel comfortable, the baby was in the womb for 9 months, do you still he will adapt so easy?? If you had a baby, you would know better.

  • @mihaela1982

its ok dont feel overwhelmed. i would like it if pople pointed out what they thought could be done differently

  • @mihaela1982 Have you always been this rude?

  • @LovellessPunk

I am always rude to people making fun of parents doing their best to calm their babies, especially when this method has science on its side

  • @daemonhayabusa: it is definitely the sound, it is called "white noise", very similar to what the fetus hears in the womb..search for video The Happiest Baby - AMNortwest and learn for when you will have the baby in your arms...

  • And what about using a microwave ? Warm and noisy too...

  • @julienbezolles I a woman thought of using a microwave once let just say she'll be out when hell freezes over.

  • And what about a microwave ?

  • @julienbezolles omg u divvy its release radiation u idoit!

  • there is no need for the hair-dryer or vacuum cleaner, either record these sounds and play anytime or put on radio between stations!!! good luck!

  • @mihaela1982 obviously it is not because of the sound. It is the heat which comforts the baby.

  • actually all you have to do is BREASTFEED the baby. We breastfeed and life couldn't be simpler. It's so easy and guess how much I've spent on food since our daughter was born?? ZERO!

  • @tastycajun Lucky you didn't get a mastitis and end up shivering on the floor in a puddle of your own vomit then isn't it you arrogant wanker

  • @saulnz lol arrogant? are you kidding me? I'm arrogant because my wife nursed our daughter and that's the best way to keep a baby from crying? WTF?

  • @tastycajun Not everybody has the luxury of breastfeeding going perfectly mate - but contrary to all the breastfeeding nazi's that filled our heads with all sorts of shit, there is absolutely nothing wrong with feeding your baby fomula should you not be able to breastfeed for whatever reason. We did and we have a perfectly happy, healthy child and guess what - no bonding issues either - Shock horror!!! Pity we didn't realise this until my missus was rushed to hospital with a severe mastitis

  • @saulnz It's not a luxury salunz, the luxury is the formula. Also, you don't have to be upset with me because you have guilt about not nursing and providing the incredible benefits on nursing.

  • @tastycajun Whatever bro, enjoy parenthood

  • @saulnz You too "bro". Enjoy parenthood.

  • @tastycajun .... would be nice but not all mothers begin to produce milk right away or even at all

  • just watching this video worked O_O

  • Um... to know for sure if it's the hairdryer that does the trick, you must eliminate the other variables: the holding and the rocking. Let's try to be good scientists here.

  • seriously???...a hair dryer?....

  • As a new parent, I have problem sleeping. I think these natural sleep cure can help. Go to website sleepbetter.comyr.com

  • I had colic as a baby and my mom used to put me on top of the dryer and run it. Between the noise and the vibration apparently it calms babies down.

  • its amusing, but the best way to calm a crying baby is by holding it gently while speaking to it calmly.....my opinion....works best for me and my daughter.

  • thats not you calm a baby you calm a baby by breastfeeding it.

  • It's called noise like the mother's womb.

  • you need to WAVE the HAIRDRYER and the kid will relax believe me ;)

  • cutest baby ever

  • That dryer is making me sedated. Perhaps I am a big baby :D

  • is she your baby?

  • ill have try this one someday, she doesn't cry very often but the wine tasting technique didn't work.

  • ur on rated k the tv show from phillippines

  • steady noises help calm anyone down. I was such a quiet child because I shared a room with my sister, who always had a fan blowing. Yeah, it shut me up and put me to sleep.....but just a warning, I can't sleep without noise, now. Now I have a little noismaker that makes rain, ocean surf, white noise etc. because of my sister's fan. It's not a bad thing, but just a heads up.

  • @345greg very distasteful humour

  • @345greg sounds good to me buddy

  • @345greg if you were standing in front of me id bash your head in with a steel mace and the rest of you idiots who liked it

  • @345greg -i see you are45..?

  • @345greg You, are one sick cunt!!

  • My baby stops crying with a menthol on her nose!

  • shiiiiiiiiiiiiitttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! im gonna try this with my baby!!!!! great vid dad!!!!! :D

my baby cries a lot at night. :D

  • I have heard that putting one hand to the baby's head and one to the baby's feet will calm them down after birth due to feeling like being inside the mother. I suppose a droning loud sound which isn't scary is a great idea as it gets the child to focus on sounds as opposed to vocalizing. I'm sure young babies have trouble with multiple stimuli relative to being able to focus on multiple stimuli simultaneously.

  • Awww! Way to go dad, good job....

Go to my profile for fast way to calm your baby

  • Comment removed

  • I did not know that! :) Great job dad!

  • if the baby was in a warm dark, quiet place there is less effect on their vulnerable nervous system. The mylenin sheath on new borns is not developed and every sound crashes into their brains like thunder. Light is extremely painful also. They may pass out from the extreme pain of the nerves being attacked with light and noise but it is not sleep.

  • My son likes to sleep with a fan going, so I can see why a hairdryer would calm the baby down. Nice job, dad!

  • Yeah they love repetitive sounds... I never grew out of it, either. I can't sleep if I don't have rhythmic sounds like a ceiling fan or water trickling playing.

  • Maybe there is a use for those old TVs after all!

  • @VidsOfOurLabor u expect THAT to get thumbs up?

  • its all about white noise my baby sleeps to the noise of t he washing machine and vaccum, there is a good vaccum sound on you tube that goes for 7 hours (obviously you dont need it on that long) which i have got my little miss moo moo to sleep to :)

  • the sound of a hair dryer is kind of soothing in the right atmosphere, so yes it would sooth a baby. I also hear that if you put the baby on a running washing machine, it calms them too. Maybe even the sound of an air conditioner.

  • At the beginning I could not believe it,!!!!! but It actually worked with my daughter and my battle against the pacifier. Thanks

  • The combination of the heat and white noise is very soothing to babies. My son loves this!

  • i think its the heat, not the noise. cuz the daddy was pointing it at the mom and baby.

  • @juicylolipop93 actually it calms the baby down because in the womb it is very loud so they are used to loud sounds which calms them down

  • Theres only one noise more annoying than a crying baby and thats a Hair Dryer.

  • wow. my son is 3 weeks old. i think i'll try that when he cries and see if it works. :D

  • @ilovemybabyxavier042 my son is 2 weeks old ill try to do the same thing lol

  • Its running water.

Like the baby would hear in the womb

when the mother is showering or something.

    it soothes the baby ;D

    so cute lol

  • Thank god for white noise. Helps me sleep too. xD
