  • Beautiful bike. Hope you mend well.

  • I just bought a RED R1200R - I'm a female rider and been riding over 25 years and love the R1200R. I am partially disabled and doubt I will ever tour. I envy anyone who can take a bike, pack and drive all over the place. I think the music properly sums up riding an R1200R - if you're gonna live life to the fullest - get a BMW! Hope you get another soon - best regards. Jo from Reisterstown, MD

  • @BMWBiker2 - Thank you so much for watching and sharing! PLEASE! give it a shot one day, pack the bike up and just GO. You don't have to do 600 miles a day, or 300, or even 100. I'm so happy for you, and we have never even met!! You are going to love your new bike! Ride as much as you can! My best memories are from the worst days on my bike, rain, sleet, hail, cold... Loved every minute of it :) I'm so excited for you! You will tour someday! Though don't forget the heated jacket and gloves ;)

  • My dream bike

  • If you do ride again, please consider a helmet in a color other than black. White is good, or any primary color, or day-glow green/yellow if you are serious about being seen. You have to give them something to pick out of the urban environment, so stay away from black, silver, gray, etc. May not have made any difference, but then again… very nice video, I'm considering the R1200R right now.

  • @LacosTacosPacos - The R1200R is amazing, if you have the money definitely get it! I have ridden a bit since the accident, mostly on a Honda 650 dirt bike, trying to build up strength again. I did get a new helmet, same model, but solid white this time! I'll take every advantage I can get the second time around. Thanks for the advice, ride safe!

  • Really great video mate, sorry about the crash and you really must get a bike again soon (if you haven't already!). I can tell how much you loved that thing, I feel the same about my bike, By the way, I have visited some of the same places you have when I was in the USA in '07. Totally awesome time exploring California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada and Utah. Ah, I wanna come back!!! All the best, Mike , Perth, Australia (ZX12R, maybe R1200R soon...)

  • hey mate, sometimes i come back again to hear the sound of the Boxer and to ask you if you are ok =)

hope it goes all ok overthere

    cheers from Italy mate! =)

    Loris, BMW 1150 Rockster

  • Glad to see you're ok, great video. I'm a paramedic and a rider, hope to see you on the road again soon.

  • I am sorry for your loss. Looks like an amazing bike!

  • Wow, very nice vid ! I'm about to buy one so...

  • @TheThreeHundredHemi - You will LOVE it! I can't wait to get another one, but I've come to terms with the fact that I'm going to have to wait a while. But not too long. Enjoy the bike!

  • @uswg01 - Thanks ! I had also thought about gettin a R1200S instead, but I think I'm still a bit unwise, so... Well, get well soon, may God watch over you ! Bye !

  • Bellissimo video realizzato bene e spiega bene l'amore di un motociclista per il proprio mezzo! Nice video, maked very WELL and it explain well the love of a biker for his bike! WOW Thaks from italy I like this very much...See you on the road!!

  • Bella moto!! Ho visto che hai girato molto, sarebbe piaciuto anche a me!! Ci sono rimasto male quando ho visto come ti sei ridotto dopo l'incidente, spero ora sia tutto a posto. ciao dalla sardegna italia :D

  • Very nice

    /watch?v=5_P6lJTmMHE

  • I loved your video. I don't have a motorbike right now but I dream to have it as soon as possible and your BMW was fantastic! I hope you're fine now and back riding a motorbike again!

    Greatings from Italy!

  • Terrible crash! Thank G-d, you survived. Your bike had ABS, no? Were you not able to slow down some before the impact?

  • @edzaslow - Yes it had ABS. I never saw it coming, the people I talked to who saw it happen said they didn't think I even hit the brakes. I don't remember any of it though, maybe a good thing haha.

  • Greetings from Sweden! I have a bike like this too. I just love it. It can turn on one cent and be steady as a rock with full package and wife on. Did 235 kph on autobahn with mrs and package. No problemo. I have just one advice for you. Try to find as many courses you can find to learn and handle the bike. I attend my self every year at least 3-5 times as an instructor. You can never have to many lessons. I hope you will get well soon and be back in the sadle.

  • @netcrawler - Yes I will be riding very soon now. Very excited! You are definitely right, you can't ever have too many lessons. I hope to attend as many courses as my wallet and schedule permit.

  • Hi, say ? How tall ere you ? I'm 6'2" and wonders about the windshield you where using ? Genuine parts ? and how is the protection/buffeting. (Thinkink of getting the bike)

... also , looks like at 85 kms/hr at 4600 rpm. could take you in the 150 zone,,, am -I right ? that sure would be a good selling point cause those Canadian prairies are long at 120 kmh/hr. (wink, wink)

  • @turismofreak - That picture was actually in MPH, I was just making a joke and saying KM/HR haha. I would cruise on the freeway at around 120-140 kph, with absolutely no problem. In fact the bike seemed to like 80mph/130kph the best. Top speed on this bike is around 230-240kph, I never got it up that fast though ;) If you are thinking about getting an R1200R, I'd go for it. It will do a little bit of everything for ya. Loved mine, and can't wait to get her replaced!

  • Man, this is a fantastic video. Glad you had a good time, and that 1200R was great machine. I am sorry for your accident, I truly hope for your total recovery.

If you read this, I'd like to know how's your condition now. Do you plan to come back to motorcycles ?

    Best regards! Take care, buddy!

  • @TheMotoCraze - It has been almost a year now since my accident. Thanks for watching and commenting. I am back 100%, if that even seems possible. I'm waiting on insurance money right now (there isn't much), but I hope to get back on a motorcycle by next month (March). I cannot wait. I've never been so happy. Check back soon for a video of my new bike! Ride safe and have fun buddy! And one more thing. Live life, and be happy!

  • @uswg01

Hey, glad to hear everything's fine. Sure, I'll check out your new vids. Hey, you're not telling what's your new bike yet? :)

A friend of mine had an accident last year, car driver "didn't see him", you know. He got leg smashed, multiple surgeries etc... but he's riding again now, tho no money from insurance sux here...

Catch you later, when you upload next vid, take care, buddy!

  • I'm so sorry for that.

    Great video motobrother!

  • I'm sorry to hear about your accident man, but I'm glad you still have your life. I've always been interested in getting a bike but knowing of the dangers that come with riding keeps me from getting my M1 license...

  • " I can't wait to get a down payment in on one" Fair Play to ya lad, that's the spirit. Write me with a few pics WHEN you get it!! ;-)

  • Hiya, good luck with your recovery, it'll be a slow process but stay positive if you can, plan your future bike trips!!! I have a r1150gs and am thinking of trading up to the r1200r, had a spin on one the other day and loved it. Is your screen aftermarket or did it come with the bike?

Go raibh biseach ort go luath (Irish for Get Well Soon)

  • @dreadster0 - Thank you! I just got back to work today, so I can start thinking about replacing my bike! The windscreen was an aftermarket unit from Wunderlich America. It was the middle height of three choices if I remember correctly. Take a look at the new 2011 R1200R, it now comes with the twin-cam engine. Not much boost in hp or tq but should be more efficient across the entire rpm range. I can't wait to get a down payment in on one. Take care!

  • What caused those bubbles on your arm?

  • @m44gun - My arm was swollen to nearly twice it's normal size. I'm guessing the bubbles were formed by fluid trying to escape as the swelling went down. That's my non-medical guess at least. They went away after a while and you can't even tell they were there. The scar is still quite obvious though haha.

  • las vegas new mexico? great little town

  • @gatewaykiller1000 - Nevada, unfortunately, the not so great town.

  • I`m sorry man....it `s a pitty. Get well soon. I hope better luck with the next bike !!

  • I can relate, man. My 2007 Harley Ultra Classic got totaled three days before your bike by a woman in a minivan that blew through a stop sign. My helmet saved my life too.

    I hope you recover well.

  • Hey man, I do not know who you are, but I hope your recovery is coming along well for you to get back on the road. Also the video was pretty good. would you recommend that bike for a beginner such as myself?

  • @dnganga - This was my first bike, the only experience I had was a Motorcycle Safety Foundation riders course, using a tiny Buell Blast. Everyone I told me not to get such a large bike for my first one, however, it is the only one that I "fit" on and really felt comfortable with. One drawback though, it's very expensive! If you have the money, and can control your wrist until you are comfortable with the power and torque, I'd say go for it! Just take it easy at first.

  • Really great video and lesson. It's a must-see for all of us that ride.

    Thanks!

    ps. I have the 2008 r1200r, black.

  • @garatah - Thanks for watching! I can't wait to get another R1200R! Enjoy yours and ride safe!

  • Very cool trip. I want to know all these states I'm from Brazil. But the visa is very difficult, but I do not know anyone there. So it's almost impossible to get there in the United States embrace and improvável.

  • Great video, sad story! I rode this machine several times. Very smooth and great punch from the middle! A really great bike.

Best luck for you and I hope you’ll be rinding soon!

    Albert, from Germany

  • riposa in pace bella moto...e sopratutto riprenditi presto fratello motociclista....ciao....

  • @Twatxpress - My R1200R was amazing. BMW is at a crossroads though, in my opinion. They will either have to cancel production, or FINALLY give the R1200R the new twin-cam engine. I would do damn near anything to get my hands on an Twin-Cam R1200R...

  • Your video is amazing, but your story more! How are you now? I'v got a 125 scooter but my next moto will be bmw r1200r or r850r ....

  • @sylcherk - I'm doing great! Thanks for asking. I have a few more hoops to get through before I can work again, i.e. afford another bike... I love the R1200R. I want another one and cannot wait until I can afford to ride again!

  • hey man, how are you?

sometimes i come here to watch this nice video, waiting to see another one of you riding a new bike :)

    cheers

    Loris

  • @loris199 - Hey buddy! I really appreciate your concern! I'm looking at nearly 100% recovery. My arms won't be quite the same ever again, small things like reaching into my right rear pocket will always be a strain, but I'll be back to flying my helicopter (I'm an EMS helicopter pilot) and riding motorbikes soon. Just have to wait for warmer weather and my paycheck to start finding its way back to my bank account! I can't believe it has been nearly 7 months...

  • ah, you crashed on my birthday

  • It was a nice bike. Bad luck.

    Take care, dude.

  • I was enjoying your slide show , then I saw the hospital slide. Glad you live to tell about this accident. I have a 08 R12R in Granite Gary. Hope to see you on the rode one day.

  • @POLESTEPS88 - You can count on it. I'll be the guy you see on some secluded highway loaded with gear, soaking wet, freezing, lost... And loving every damn minute! :)

  • mate, i watched your "old" Akrapovic clip time ago, and fell in love with the bike...

after lots and lots of thoughts, i finally bought a bike (my FIRST bike), a '04 Rockster and i love her...to be honest i love naked/sport bikes and dirtbikes, never thought a touring bike could be my first bike but...now i cannot live without her...me and my gf made a couple of trips around here (dolomites, mountains between italy and austria) and don't need to say that travel with a bike is somethins special.

  • @loris199 something that only who made it can understand...

i am so so so disappointed for your accident...i'm not the first to wish you to come back stronger than ever but with message i just want to salute you from overthere, Italy, and take care!

    Loris :)

  • @loris199 - Thank you Loris! BMW naked bikes are the best. Italy has to be an AMAZING backdrop for an already awesome ride. I can't wait until I can replace my R1200R, it will happen soon now. Ride safe my friend!

  • i personally ride a Triumph Speed Triple, but got to test out a BMW before buying, i loved both bikes and i truely had trouble deciding.

i hope you get another one soon, the road is a truely awesome place.

  • @trclewis911 - I'd choose a Speed Triple over the BMW for all out fun. The BMW though is better, IMHO, for long distance trips. I've never ridden a Triple but one of my co-workers had a gold one. Sounded amazing when he rode her hard, which unfortunately was sort of a rare occurrence...

I'm buying soon, maybe even over winter to get a better deal (hopefully). Have fun with the Triumph!

  • You are alive that's the most important part the bike is only metal and bolts.

Hope you find the same joy again on a bike. For me riding my R1200R in Germany is better than meditation you live in the here and now and only the next curve is important.

Sometimes I wish that the laws in Germany weren't not so tight. With the open Acrapovic exhaust the bike sounds even better.

    Take care!

  • @DonDuracell - Thank you for the comment! The second most important part is that the local BMW dealer has a beautiful blue R1200R in the showroom. Let's just say it has my name written all over it! I would love to ride in Germany, in fact a European vacation is probably not too far in the future for me. It will definitely include some riding!

Have fun with your R1200R, they are the best!

  • damn, sorry about your crash, damn cagers. i hope you still have the passion to keep riding.

  • @02wheels - Oh yes, the passion is even stronger now. I'm close to replacing my bike. Just need to get back to work first. Thank you for the comment and ride safe!

  • @uswg01 - Sorry for your pain. Glad for your recovery. What bike are you considering now? I wanted an R1200R, but bought a cheaper one: Suzuki DL650. I may someday spring for the beemer, a white one, of course!

  • @KutWrite - I will most likely replace it with another R1200R, or an HP2 Sport, or S1000RR, or or or... haha. I can't decide yet. The R1200R did everything I needed though. Realistically, for me it's the best choice to get back into riding with, plus there is one for sale locally. I really can't wait!

  • wow..I didn't expect the last part ....Awful what happened to you....and the bike,

With this vid you have a good memory of your bike.... take care!

  • @jaspervd1 - I love your R1200R buddy! I really wanted mirrors like that. Had a terrible time finding anything here in the US. Rizoma, hmm going to have to get a set for my next R1200R. I don't see any other bike giving me they joy that I got from this one. Definitely will have another R1200R in the future! Ride safe and enjoy that thing! Thanks for the comment!

  • @uswg01 thanks pal! Perhaps, some day you will buy a new R1200R again, in that case let me know. I will help you collect the Rizoma stuff (such as handlebar, endbar weights what'' s needed) Rizoma is the best brand you can have.
