I agree with some of what you say, but also disagree. In reference to your claim of the U.S. being more diverse than any Euro country, Belgium, for example, has three official languages. The U.S.? None. In general (stressing, in general) Euro countries encourage their citizens to be more diverse than the U.S. does, by far.

I think a major division within the US has to do with cultural and religious differences between the "North" and the "South", which in part led to the civil war. Now the division is between liberal / secularists and conservative (although not fiscally responsible and don't defend the constitution) Christian right wing. If only that portion of America can eventually modernize and abandon the superstitious beliefs for rationality (yeah right) then it would be an even greater country, in good time.

There is a huge problem whenever we compare US secondary schools to secondary schools in Europe or elsewhere. We compare our high schools, who educate almost all teenagers, to European high schools, which are purely college preparatory institutions and only educate a fraction of the country's teenagers. A fairer comparison would be comparing European secondary schools' performances to the test scores of American high schoolers who applied to post secondary schools.

In the town a live in (Arlington TX) There are several high schools.

The one I go to, Martin, is one of the largest schools in the state. It's scores are amazing compared to the other schools in Arlington. The only difference in Martin and the others is-

I have to disagree with the whole, Schools in america are the best, theory you have going on there. I am a high school student, and I love to learn. But the problem is, that every time schools get money, they use it on sports related stuff. Not textbooks that are very much needed, Not new desks, Not anything that would be nessasary to learn.
