Thanks for posting. John would be pleased. He devoted his life to his art. It is so sad that today's "country" music is produced by marketing executives and not musicians. Johnny Paycheck is timeless. He will live on as long as those of us (who know country music) remember his journey.
The best & most heart-felt collabration of Paycheck we have seen yet. Tears are still in my eyes. Thanks Alot. Kenny Brent (JP's lead for a few years in the 1970's). Bless You.
hate to sound like an old geezer but there isn t country music of this caliber being sung today! as good a country song as was ever sung! a few as good none better RIP Mr. Paycheck thanks for making life better and sharing!
True Johnny Paycheck here... You were truely a great one and this was one true to life song for Johnny, wrote before he spent time in the joint in Chillicothe, Ohio.
I had the opportunity to open a show for Johnny...in Huntington Tn. right after he got out of prison...he was some kind of great singer songwriter...I also had the priviledge to attend his funeral....sing with the angels you old violin......
@RockabillyRicky not to be a "downer"--who could after listening to that--I was singing at the top of my lungs...but to add even more context to JP -he died broke--penniless..George Jones "arranged" his funeral. What a master at pulling you into a song! RIP JP
This man played with the best of them ... good little singer" George Jones said" Also paid for his funeral too... Johnny died broke. Check out a songwriter /singer named Billy Don Burns... from Arkansas Very interesting life lived up close and personal to paycheck and others... Around 58/59 yrs old . billy don burns is the name...
I look at this Video and I see all the greats that have left us. Johhny Russell, Del Reeves, Billy Walker, and Johnny Paycheck. Whos gonna Fill there shoes?? We have country singers, but not with the character these guys displayed. Thanks for the memories Guys
This video shows that whether he was performing on stage, or in a very informal setting he sang from his heart and his timing was awesome. I would like to see some video from his early days.
back in april i was in nashville' and i went to see where john was laid to rest'there's a piece of ground all to it's self with no other markers around it. to me tho it seemed kind of fitting'because john was some what of a loner
I'm not sure what album it's on. The song is called Old Violin. I didn't even know the song until a few months ago when I heard it on the radio and had to have it. I got it off limewire...
What album is this on I am guessing its called old violin but what year is it. I have a lot of paycheck on my comp but I have this nowhere and i must have it
He originally recorded this track on album called Modern Times on the Mercury label. He re-recorded it on an album entitled The Difference In Me, I think this was on the Playback label. Please more JP videos.

I saw him in Vegas at the Silverbird in 70's. He could write with the best of them, Haggard, Willie etc.
He died alone in a nursing home a few years ago, underrated. He was a true outlaw, screw Willie, he wasn't a real outlaw at the end.

Look up a singer songwriter named Billy Don Burns... check out this man...
