  • fuck spending a ton of money on new lunar landing equipment.......lets just dust off the unused Saturn V Rockets, Lunar Excursion Modules, and Command Modules, rigorously inspect them, and use those to return to the moon. it would be a lot cheaper!

  • If they don't intend to build a base and stay, there is absolutely no point to another manned landing.

  • the way I see it, whilst the technology may be advancing but until they find an alternative and vastly more effective method of propulsion other than combustion they wont get to far.

  • This time is going to be way tougher for NASA. We got HD video now, lol.

  • @PROMITHEASMUSIC yea... like on rover 1 & 2 on mars.

  • i hope some day they will but it wont be nasa thats for cretin the only nasa is good for is faking the shit and that is all with the help of hollywood every thing is possible , but i just hope the first moon mission can lay a nice big flag on the moon so we can see it with at least a 16" telescope

  • Seems NASA ""plans"" have once again be cancelled. Great for my dream of seeing a manned moon landing in my lifetime. Seems i will have to be looking to China for that. Sad.

  • @EUROSUN1 lol screw the current economy XD

  • New Scientist has an article about this called "NASA moon plan was an illusion, wrapped in denial "

  • Obama (The Quitter) has ended America's return to the moon and ended manned space exploration (by the US).

"Robotic missions are much cheaper and may provide more scientific information, but they don't catch the public imagination in the same way, and they don't spread the human race into space, which I'm arguing should be our long-term strategy." Stephen Hawking, Cambridge University.

  • seems like what Buzz Aldrin said that "astronauts weren't the only one on the moon, and they were said to never come back" might be true :(

  • Just getting the Ares rocket man-rated is going to be a challenge. Apparently NASA rates the risk at 4/5 and the potential results are a 100% chance of killing the crew if it goes wrong. Werner von Braun said that no human should ever have to ride a solid rocket motor.

  • why even send humans back to build a moon base anyway? why not just send remote controlled robots that can work day and night without a break with no food or water?

    wouldent that be faster?

then after the robots get the thing built then send in a human crew.

not being cocky its just a thought.

  • @MrUrbanExplorer

    I agree.

  • i have also wondered why nasa chose to go with a wheel design for the mars bots instead of a track design?

that one thats stuck in the sand right now might not have been had it some tracks instead of wheels.

lol if anyone at nasa is reading this right now i got lots of other ideas to and i would be glad to share them just put me on the pay roll. =)

  • trust me dude, they thought about it too, this was the better choice... and it got stuck in a CRATER, not sand. it should have worked for 6 month anyway, that was the expected lifetime, but instead it was used for more then 2 years. and no, tracks for a electric engine powered by the dim martian sun? yea right, couldn't have rotated them not even a inch without emptying the batteries in a few minutes

  • @ChronicMist

i guess so. but it just makes me wonder because i had a small remote controlled car that had tracks on it and that thing could go everywhere lol. but i guess on a much larger scale it would suck up alot of juice.

what do you think buzz meant we he said we where not the only ones on the moon? was he talking about aliens?

  • the reporter asked him the same question, but he said "sorry, but I can't tell you that...at least not now". take your conclusions from that :)

  • @ChronicMist

if he did see something there i think he has a obligation to the human race to tell the truth about it.

reguardless of what nasa or any other gov agency told him not to talk about he has a obligation to his species first and foremost.

i know if i had been there and seen something i would have started spilling my guts to the media as soon as we landed.

even if it meant risking my life to do so because i think people have the right to know.

  • trust me, he wants to. but who knows what the government said that he'll do to him or his family if he says something. and this is something normal for them to do this with alot of ppl who "betrayed" them. I don't know how real or not this is, but some day, sooner or later, the truth will come out :)

  • @ChronicMist

what do you think about that ufo disclosure project video? do you think its a hoax or what?

go look for it on here i watched it but i dont really know if i should take it seriously or if its a hoax.

  • it might be, in fact, I'm sure it is...but...the UFO subject was so ridiculed in the past 40-50 years, that ppl can't make the difference between what might be real, fake or misinterpreted, OR simply they just don't care about it, as the modern life is so complicated, some ppl just try to get put they're bread on the table and survive for another day :\

  • @ChronicMist

yea exspecialy now in this economic depression.

im just waiting for the president to get on national tv and say "well fellow americans i got some bad news. it looks like all our stimulus isint going to work and as a result there will be an economic collapse. now dont worry because we are going to move everyone to a fema camp because we have to give our bankster friends your homes and cars. and you might have to work a little in this camps but we will feed you lol. =\

  • rofl, if that will ever happen, be sure nothing will be told on the news, and even if they did, it will be like "a very dangerous virus was released onto the US soil, the only hope for our citizens is to go into this special camps, 100% infection free". now that's more plausible and believable for the average joe x)

  • because robots can't build something 100% safe and effective. we still need a human there with a hammer in his hands to make sure everything is fit correctly. this isn't star wars. it's just to complicated. maybe if they create the building into pre-fabricates and some robots just put some screws to it, maybe then it could be done. but how can we send 20m long pieces of steel into space with our current technology lol?

  • so the exhaust is visible this time lol

  • Excellent video!!! Shows the journey to the Moon exactly how it will be.

  • i like the idea of the new pad we land on.. not the water. thats cool because then we wouldnt have to waist our time goin to get them the will be like a mile from us! in the arizona desert i guess....if i was an astronaut, the thing i would bring with me just to leave on the moon or on some other rocky surface is probily my little pocket bible and a picture of me and my family.....didnt an astronaught do that befor?

  • NASA shouldn't go to the moon or Mars, they should just make movies. this vid is so good.

  • Extremely noobs!

  • why every time nasa goes some where they all ways have to leave shit behind they need to invest in a space ship that stays in one peice

  • that is so right

  • its extra weight.

  • Better hope they get the math right on this.

  • no one had been at the moon

  • pienso que un gran plan solo que yo YA ESTOY EN EL DESARROLLO DE HACER A MARTE Y JUPITER UN PLANETA AHABITABLE COMO LA TIERRA ,,MEJOR AUN YA ESTAN ABITADOS SO' no memos lo que esta alli por que TOTAL MENTE ETERICO Y/O ASTRAL,.. OCULTO A NUESTROS CENTIDOS PERO EN SI TODO'S ESTAN ABITADOS !!!JMHB !!!

  • Screw those annoying rumbling sounds, I'm playing the Blue Danube Waltz over this.

  • Why does everything just "fall" off these spacecraft? It's such a waste. Why doesn't it just retract or something?

It's like if I took my car for a drive, and dropped my gas tank after a few miles... and then my doors fell off just moments before I arrive at my destination!

  • Each lb of mass requires an geometrically related amount of reaction mass. By dropping off bits and pieces you reduce the amount of propellant you need to carry. Reducing the amount of propellant you need to carry means you need less propellant, etc, etc.

Much more cost effective overall to drop stuff vs carry extra propellant.

  • um. they do recycle the first fuel tank that fall of. it comes back to earth.

  • Rockets are not like that, for example the space shuttle costs more to launch than does the Saturn V method to get to the moon. NASA (tax payers) would even save money if they did not make the boosters "reusable" for the space shuttle. They take on a lot more stress than a car. NASA didn't even try recovering the X43a.

Reusable rockets just are not worth it.

To put it in perspective that most anyone can understand, it would be like trying to recover and reuse a bullet after shooting it.

  • Yeh you're right. I see what you're saying. I pretty much know nothing about rockets ;D

  • It's already empty from all the escape it does in the gravity. You remember it will take lot of energy to get up so it has finished it's part. Injecting to someones gravity is different than escaping to it. The moon's gravity is 4 times easier to get away from the fact is that they can't send any craft with a man on mars yet.

  • I don't quite get what you're trying to say, I just want to correct an error.

The surface gravity of the moon is not four, but approximately six times weaker than the surface gravity of the earth and getting "away" from the moon will require even less than 1/6 of the energy to get away from the earth as gravity gets weaker in proportion to the distance squared.

  • You sound noob.

I don't want you to message me fuck space.

  • I don't particularly care whether or not you like me to reply to you. Anyway, I have not posted this so that you pass judgment on it.

Take my advice and get your facts right before you make a statement. If you fail to do so, at least have the decency not to offend somebody who takes the liberty to correct you.

  • Forget about it they're just shitting!

They don't have the technology yet to KNOW what man will do in there.

They'll just be picking up stones like they did 40 - 60 fake years ago!!!!!!

  • I honestly don't think you have any idea of what you're talking about, but you're right - they will probably not go. But that's not because of their lack of technological capability (yeah yeah, i know the conspiracy bullshit - Van Allen belt and so on blabla, they didn't get their facts right either) but because of the global energy crisis we are facing already and which will come down hard on us if we do not control our population growth and oil consumption.

Anyway, I'm sure you don't care.

  • How the hell is it livable!

Take off your space suit and immediately you'll turn into an instant black Cadaver!!!!!!

  • Of course they won't be able to walk around without space suits (unless of course they are inside a permanent basis on the surface). But then again divers can't take off their oxygen supply either or they'll drown, yet they're diving.

As terraforming is not an option on the moon because its gravitational pull is too small to hold on to an atmosphere we'll always be dependent on space suits.

Then again, there are resources we can exploit which might aid us in the (far) future.

  • They show us some force field down to the creaters of the moon.

All of these were science fiction and can't be done.

They'll plant lots of plants so the moon would look like the Earth.

It's just stupid thinking for now.

That's just deluded and you KNOW we can't do that.

  • I would like to see where you have them showing us a 'force field' in one of the moons craters. I would also like to see how you come to the conclusion that they want to turn the moon into a planet like the earth (which is impossible).

The only reason they'd be growing plants is to create oxygen supply for a permanent basis on the moon, and even that i would think, is not so likely.

  • They don't have the technology for artificial gravity, and They will not live permanently it causes brain decease and bones to dissolve and their heart shrinks.

Without inventing that we are just wasting money and also we can't ask for Aliens to give us some of these technology.

It's like ants in an ant hill right next to a 10 lane super highway waiting for them some dude to bump on them and be given DNA technology, nuclear energy, and Eutophia.

  • A permanent residence does in no way mean that the same people stay there all their life. Hell that'd be boring! I suppose it's a new crew every six months or so. And in this timeframe the effects of reduced gravity on the human organism are negligible (given the right training methods to keep muscles up and a decent protective shield against high energy particles).

The effects of gravity can be created via rotation, but you're right saying this is not an option on the moon.

  • I hope that they don't find my hidden porn stash.

  • ok maybe I missed something but isn't this how we got there the first time? I was only 1 at the time so someone help me with the difference. oh and where is that damn shuttle

  • Quote:

    "casdish (il y a 2 ans)

A significant difference seems to be that the crew launches in a seperate vehichle than the cargo and lander."

  • Why the sound effects in the silence of space?

  • Cuz its science fiction, not fact.

    For now.

  • Really gotta hand it to the Apollo guys for providing the technological base for this.

  • If you like this, you will LOVE the movie;

    Man Conquers Space.

You can find 'Man Conquers Space' easily on the Web, then click on 'Gallery' to see the trailer.

  • So tell me all you conspiracy jerks, is this moon project gonna be faked too?

  • No it is not fucking fake.

  • soylentred, do you know how much they've planned to have a space hotel or something? since atleast the 70s and so far i think NASA and other agencies are so far ahead of their time. For christ sake, on Earth we can't even have a decent hotel without someone in the family who owns it screwing up or even just finding a simple hotel without burning a hole through your pocket... Do you see what i mean?

  • Space programs are essential. Just publicizing it makes people enroll in science majors in college. Baby steps could be said to be an excuse. It's a shame the RSA,ESA,NASA, and Chinese cannot work together for the god of the species. I really don't care how it gets done, as long as it does and preferably PDQ. Orbiting habitats, please.

  • good of the species.

  • Regarding the comment: "SpaceshipOne can't achieve orbit. It isn't nearly powerful enough, by about a factor of 30." I building a ship to go there now. I'll call you when it gets there. OSC/NASA.

  • SpaceshipOne can't achieve orbit. It isn't nearly powerful enough, by about a factor of 30.

  • I said "SpaceshipOne-type". SSO can't achieve orbit b/c of the 'low energy' method it uses. The WhiteKnight & lowpowered (if economical) rubber/nitros rocket combo are the culprit. Rutan used those technologies b/c his goal was an affordable ride. NASA has a bigger budget to work from - enough for Rutan to A] design a version that sits atop a SRB (they already plan this w/the Ares CEV) and B] equip the SSO varient with a H/O based rocket (or some other energetic fuel). That's where I'd start.

  • Winged ships no good. Shuttle never turned out to be what was envisioned. The new moon mission resembles the original because the same problems require the same answers. Look at the Russian space shuttle (that never flew a crew). People thought it was a rip-off, but aerodynamics dictated the design. Also, we can't go to Mars without great risk. One reason to return to moon is to practice practice practice.

  • davidcbny: Exactly! Practice, practice, practice! Not to mention the jobs another Apollo style program would create, and technological improvements (which may or may not be applicable on Earth). Done right with increased opportunity for private companies to exploit the LEO game we could see a nice revitalization of the U.S. aerospace industry. I just don't want to see science programs cut in order to bring this about.

  • Yeah, let's go back to how we did things 40 years ago! Great idea NASA!

God I hope ESA and Russia come up with something better than this for the Advanced Crew Transportation System they're developing...

  • why go to the moon when you can go to mars?? idiots...

  • Baby steps, remember. Baby steps.

What we will learn on the moon will help us go to Mars. Space exploration, and especially colonisation, is extremely difficult and dangerous. Returning to the moon is just the first tep in the right direction.

If only NASA had more funding... :-(

  • ya know, insteading of spending 4 billion USD per day on the war in iraq why not spend it on Space Exploration, stupid....

  • Going to Mars is MUCH harder than going to the Moon.

  • I regret that NASA didn't choose the Lockheed Martin proposal for the Crew Exploration Vehicule: A winged ship, a lifting body.

I same arquitecture that Werhner Von Braun envisioned forty o fifty years ago for go to the Moon with human beings.

  • We've had a winged ship-- it's called The Space Shuttle. It has proved too complex and dangerous. Best to develop highest quality ships within scope of current knowledge. When we discover equivalent of "warp drive", the ships will change. -- JG

  • I cant see anything new in this ! This is the same process as the most famous Apollo one !!

Spend money on great video animation is already a waste of time and money. When a real new plan will be ready??

  • A significant difference seems to be that the crew launches in a seperate vehichle than the cargo and lander.

  • che pero como es cosceno ?

  • Our idiot president decides we're going back to the moon....and then he cuts funding to NASA forcing them to raid the science budget. Several important missions have been cancelled or postponed indefinitely.
