  • Helped me out a lot, thank you so much!

  • your awesome, you sound like microsoft sam XD

  • thank you very much!! help me a lot!!

  • great tutorial easy to follow thanks

  • Thanks man reallyyy helpful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • How can I use this to edit selections that are already made. For example, I have a rectangle that is selected (with the marching ants). How would I use the pen tool to cut out part of it or add to it.

I know with the polygonal lasso tool you do this by holding ALT when you make the selection, but I can't find a key that does it with the pen tool.

  • Thank you! Finally someone with a good tutorial to show me how! :D

  • Thanks. ^^ But I've got a question: how to make a copy from the selection? Not to remove the background, but to create a new layer from the selection? :/

  • i tried this and damn man wooow.. works great!!!!!A BIG THANK YOU!!!!!XXX

  • why not using the quick selection tool?Isn't that much faster and easier?

  • Thanks u solve my problem

  • This worked fine for me. Took a little extra time, but did things the magic wand could not do.

  • frankly , it took too much time with me ...

  • I disagree that this is a quick way. Basically you're setting points in the wrong locations with no handles and then you go back to correct it. That's not saving time, that's adding time. The quickest way to select the subject is to get it right from the start.

  • Excellent tutorial! Thanks so much! ^_^

  • nice !!

  • that i what looking for..

    Select>inverse ;)

  • when i press delete it sais: could not complete your request because the smart object is not directly editable pls reply if u have the answer

  • veryyy nice!

  • how can i make it on a transperent backround so i can import it in after effects?

  • @randolphdigitalworks when you press delete and you get that black background go to the magic eraser tool, under the eraser tab, and click on the solid background still selected and it will delete the color and give you the white and gray transparent box photoshop background.

  • omg tanx your tut is straight forwards no stupid voices or nothing man nice vid!

  • Thanks again.. i have a question.. now that i have the image cut, i want to use the selection in Flash CS3, but when i throw the selection it appears with the background and i only want to use the area i selected. Please help me! Thanks

  • It's been three weeks since I was soo frustrated trying to learn the pen tool, and your video was very helpful. Just want you to know that I use your quicky way all the time now. Thanks for making this tut.. Now that I have the basic's down, your vid is awesome!

  • u legend uve saved me an arm and a leg:)

  • thank you, several things were left out. While adding new point to path, we must let go of the new point and then click ctrl and hold down THEN click the new point. I wish you would say outloud every click, hold, press, release on the next video so I wont get so frustrated. I'm subscribing to you now.

  • Great Video! Learned Alot In A Little Amount Of Time!

  • Dude, This is short and sweet! Kudos, to you... Im learnig photshop! Thanks!

  • Great Vid.

    Really Helped!

  • Very nice tip to rough out the shape, then go back and add/drag points.

Somehow I have never even THOUGHT of doing it that way - instead trying to be precise as I went along, which I can now see takes longer.

However, as with all of the pen-tool tutes I have seen here, one is forced to watch the slow and painful trip all around the selection of the object.

A few seconds at the beginning and end, a few in the middle showing how to set corner points etc: no need to show the whole trip.

  • cool!

  • Top tutorial! THANKS for sharing!!!!!

  • Excellent. I did not know how to do that.

  • An excellent well presented tutorial. thankyou for imparting your knowledge and experience. I now have a better understanding of the pen tool thanks again.
