i'd give this game a rent, the 2nd gears took me 15 hours to beat, this one took me a lil over 9. I think out of the whole game there were only 3 boss battles, and you really only get to ride in a vehicle twice. However the level design is the star of this gears, every location is interesting and the storyline isn't half bad considering your not searching for Doms wife half the game.

this is probably my fav gears, i actually cared about the campaign in this one, multiplayer is ok( everyone uses shotguns) horde mode is better than 2, and beast mode is a lot of fun

this game is gears of war 1, but its old, cliche, and boring in 2011. this does nothing at all different, and the developers should honestly be ashamed for their lazy 2 year efforts.

Great game. Every time a new Gears Of War comes out i think "Nah, i'm not interested" but then i play it and i'm reminded why i love Gears Of War.

@Leont64 That's Dom, and you can play as him. You can play as him in the campaign if your playing co-op, and you can play as him in horde and competitive multiplayer.

call me what you will, but i can't imagine taking cover behind whatever and shooting enemies, walking a couple of steps and taking cover again, and shooting enemies again, and doing everything over and over again for countless hours being any fun.

I played the first one, and I never saw what the big deal is. I think this might be because I played Uncharted first, though. Uncharted did everything Gears did but better. IT, also, added in puzzle solving, better characters, a better story and good platforming elements.

I'm sorry but I've played Uncharted. It's no where near the same thing. If I had the choice to be stuck in an island and had a choice between Uncharted and Gears of War, Gears of War HANDS DOWN. Uncharted gets too repetitive and boring QUICK. Nice but no Gears of War.

@DeVstatrOmga Gears of War was boring and repetitive to me. Uncharted broke up the duck and cover shooting with with platforming and puzzle solving, which kept it from being repetitive. Gears of War didn't really do that. As I mentioned, the story and characters are a lot better in Uncharted, as well. Gears is nice, but no Uncharted

Sure if you're easily amused. But no, pretty sure Gears is the clear winner. Sales (FACT) back that up. Uncharted to date 3.4 million copies sold and showed to be most returned or sold back to shops like Gamestop. Gears of War 3 alone 5.1 MILLION copies sold. Majority have SPOKEN.

@DeVstatrOmga how can u say that uncharted is for those who are easily amused? oO that would be gears of war since it's only action action action... uncharted is fr those who are looking for a bit more than just shooting the shit out of everything. i'm just sayin'. uncharted has way better variety in gameplay. but they are both excellent games and i wouldn't say that one is better than the other since they are so good and it just depends on what you like more.

@fsmetal - Agreed. I found the 1st one to be mediocre. However i was obsses with the MP for years. That is the only thing redeeming about GOW. Without the MP nobody would have came back to it. UC is just on a whole other level of game design. GOW is boring with no diversity in its gameplay ( just duck & shoot ), Characters are terrible & chesy, writing is terrible, pacing & variety is non existent. UC offers so much in terms of character pacing, variety, story, & gameplay. Gow just cant compete
