  • I'm scared

  • This video sequence is from a documentary dvd called The Turtles Happy Together. Buy it on ebay for few bucks!!..

  • Hey caylancom is the real howard kaylann!!

  • name of the original video??

  • The instrument in question is actually the first Moog Synthesizer used on a rock record. Both Elenore and You Showed Me featured Paul Beaver on Moog. It took him all day to set up the enormous consoles.

  • I've been looking for this video!!! Thanks for posting! :)

  • LOVE the slow motion....hilarious...thanks for posting this gem.

  • Very good! The slo-mo works well - makes it trippier

  • the studio told them to be sure and SMILE @ the camera and that big fella w/the fro & specs did a helluva job!

  • @TheMetalmommy86 That's how these guys will live forever. I played the 60's for my boys all the time, they range from 35 to 24 they all like the 60's especially the Moody Blues. So we all showed encourage them to listen. Like the Turtles,Animals, Zombies, Grass Roots all the great 60's music. even the one hit wonders were great. You people are so knowledgeable it is a pleasure to communicate with you all.

  • @TheMetalmommy86 Thanks, One of the few advantages of being old. He might also like sound asleep. In Coos Bay,OR. was a great show also included the Beau Brummels no Steve Elliott but they did have Sal Valentino and Dec Mulligan

  • @TheMetalmommy86 I really like Howard Kaylan, I met him in Sacramento in 1969 and as Flo and Eddie in Coos Bay in 1975. He doesn't play with a full deck that is probably why I like him.

  • This may be a Byrds but they seem so different I love both versions

  • Does the guy with the big hair only PRETEND to play instruments?

I'm just curious. I like The Turtles.

  • The Turtles rock hard. Yeah, so what Mark Volman looks like Ron Jeremy. So does Jon Lovitz. They look more like brothers. I even thought Ron Jeremy and Jon Lovitz were the same person. lol. Good stuff here.

  • wow bueniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiisimo

  • Great song....thanks for posting you did a great job sounds great .....you gotta love this song unless you just dont like music.....

  • NOTHIN' BEATS THE GOOD OLD DAYS OF MUSIC.

  • Damn again! I commented while trying to search!

  • the animals

  • I love THE TURTLES,they arent overplayed like the Beatles.I like the Animals better than the Beatles too :))

  • ofcourse master Gene Clark wrote it

  • You know, I don't think they're actually singing "You Showed Me". It's just slowed down so much we can't tell. They probably wanted to include that song in the video (This is from a vid about the history of the Turtles) but couldn't find a good performance of it so they used whatever song this is, slowed down. I'd like to know what song they're actually singing.

Ugh, Mark Volman is so big, hairy and repulsive. I always hate seeing him in Turtles vids. Can he even sing?

  • @harrietcow , lol i couldnt agree with you more about mark volman. is he like ron jeremy's cousin or what? and the way he is just smiling there like some child molester on acid. someone should have suggested they keep him behind the curtains, he could frighten the children.

  • @harrietcow You suck.

  • i love the turtles but i think the beatles are better than them

  • In January of 1969 I was an infantry squad leader in Viet Nam. This piece of music helped to keep me sane. Thanks.

  • Why is the video in slow motion!.. has the cameraman dropped acid too?

  • Timeless.....

  • I loved the music back then,so innocent,so sweet.....♥

  • this is cool....but i have to say i like the lightning seeds version as well

  • @MrKerast you mean you can write some of the most awesome music ever? pass the drugs please...

  • What's Al Franken doing standing next to Howard Kaylan????

  • simple but catchy!! cming from a musician!!

  • I agree about the time machine, take me back to the sixties forever, if even my 14 years again in the navy as a SEAL - fuck - it would be worth it.

    one ex seal

  • Brillant song, first time i hear it in 26 years, truely underrated!

  • a slower tune with a nice beat, you don't hear too many of those. the turtles were definitely underrated!

  • @nawkitty Funny you should say about the song being slow. It was supposed to be more up-tempo. But when the composers played it for the Turtles, they had this sort of synthesizer to play it on and only the "slow" speed setting worked that night. So, they played it slow, like this, and they said, "But of course, you'll record it more up-tempo", and the Turtles said, "No! It sounds great just the way it is - slow!"

  • This video is the coolest 3 min trip I've been on...

  • THANKS FOR REPOSTINH THIS!!!!

  • i feel as high as they actually were=] The Turtles remain hip to me:)

  • ahhh es tan psicodelica me encanta

  • damn, this is now 40 years old.....

  • Beautiful!

  • Unreal. Those of you born after 1960 don't have only a clue how big these guys were and remain.

  • i do...these guys went to school with my aunt and were a huge part of an era i wish i couldve been a part of...im actually jealous of my dad and aunt for growing up in the 60s

  • The excitement of the music and the times cannot be described, other than they were magical. Flo & Eddie were a big part of the magic. You're aunt and dad can tell you about this feeling. Nothing since comes close. Nothing.

  • @lmt61251

    Naaah.

    I'm 1970.

    Love this stuff!

  • Transmitting Live From Mars ;)

  • this video is in slow motion lol

  • The song was released in late 1968 and received heavy airplay thru early 1969...mike

  • Great song,Kind of dreamy. And i was wondering what year this song was released. Was it 62?

  • The song is from 1969

  • it tells you in the info.

  • Is this the end of a longer video?

  • Pretty sure this is the end credits to an excellent Turtles documentary done by Rhino Records sometime in the 90s--had this on VHS as a kid and wish I had it now!

  • Mark is hilarious here. Cracking me up!

  • listen to Howard Kaylan's voice! it's great! songs like Happy Together, Love in the City and this one, they are all simply great.

This song and his voice is almost hynotizing.

  • It's awesome and Volman looks soooo funny!

  • And Mark Volman is still smiling his ass off. :)

  • and look at the afro-hair guy's face @ 0:46

  • I like turtles

  • These guys actually seem like they were real comedians, especially if you watch their other videos. Makes me like them a lot more. =) Like smiling 'fro kid? Seriously?!? LOLZ...

  • This song was also done by the Byrds. But which one came first?

  • This is the original artist.. but it was covered by the Lightning Seeds and used by De La Soul too..

  • The Byrds were the original artists,in fact Roger Mcguinn wrote it .The the song wasn't released on an album until the Preflyte album which came out long after the classic Byrds lineup.

  • McGuinn & Gene Clarke

  • Oh please let me be psychedelic!

  • I'm very sure you ARE! *Grin*

  • At least I hope I'm colorful enough!

    Wish you the best!

  • this song is so underrated and fucking awesome

  • love this fucking song! i hear it all night cause i listen 2 oldies 1310 all night long, woo!

  • JACK BLACK!!!!!!!!!

  • one of the greatest songs of all time!!!!!!

  • LMAO I want to be the afro guy

  • Sorry about the error in my post about the death of Alan Bonner: his last name was Gordon. His writing partner was Garry Bonner.

  • Today's newspaper (11-29-08) reports the death of Alan Bonner, one-half of the Bonner-Gordon duo that wrote so many of the great Turtles songs, died of cancer at age 64. Damn!!!

Thanks for everything, Alan... you will be missed!!

  • Sounds so contemporary !! Awesome song !

  • I love watching this every so often; Mark Volman is just smiling his fucking ass off. It makes me smile, every time.

  • what an amazin lovely melody song ! OLD IS GOLD

  • Hear that intro? That's the part, the hip-hop group, DeLaSoul sampled and got into a whole heap of trouble, on their debut CD, back in the 1980's.

  • i love this song

  • beautiful song

  • *W*O*N*D*E*R*F*U*L*

  • I loved the good old days when bands had a sense of humor.

    Great song!

  • Thank you for sharing one of my favourite Turtles tunes. Ah that was music, back in the day....

  • Wow! The Turtles in slow motion! Far out! Who's the young man with the afro hair and glasses? Beautiful song and also one of my own favorites. Thanks again. :)

  • @bendobrin Oh man I agree 100%! I'd go back in a heartbeat!..........can you show me what to do ...to get back to 1969? ♥

  • @msstevie1951 Well, you start by dropping a couple of 'ludes ....!

  • hmm looks like the chocolate factory, but no Willy Wonka and those little awesome singers.i like this video.

  • Oh trippy!!! Very cool though :)

  • awesome song!

  • hahaha dude their fucking baked

  • I used to play this on the accordion when it came out. I played it on my tape recorder a thousand times. I still love the song.

  • Thank U

  • Didnt De La Soul sample this.

  • Yeah, and The Turtles sued them successfully... which is disgusting given that The Turtles didn´t even write this song themselves!

  • THANKS KOOL SONG

  • I had no idea Lightning Seeds didn't write this...

    Is that Jack Osbourne?

  • okay crazy.... i haven't laughed this hard in a long time. Jack Osbourne... lmaooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • more like the guy in superbad movie...

  • don't get me started moxie. LMAOOO.. i just wanna know what the hell is the Jack look guy doin just standing there smiling... too funny..

  • I also thought this is a Lightning Seeds original..

  • thanks for fab video and thanks lolo

  • Loooooooove this song, must download it soon.

  • Feel like taking a nap and never waking up

  • Flo & Eddie forever!

  • great Roger McGuinn song...

  • Great cover of a Gene Clark song. The Byrds just demoed this, but The Turtles made a great arrangement. One of the first singles to feature Moog synthesizer, used sparsely and tastefully.

  • oops ....sorry thought this was Roger not Gene...my mistake..

  • mark volman is tripping balls in this video. just smiling his ass off.

  • Im getting horny xDDD

  • oh, this video is perfect !

  • Knew this song from Lightning Seed. It is a very cool song.

  • the turtles were years ahead of their time doing videos. they had some great songs as well- Ray Davies of the Kinks produced one of their albums.

  • best song ever ;*

  • Let us have less of the insults TIZZLEBIZZLE. This is from 1969 and the person you refer to is Mark Volman who at 17 years old was singing and playing Saxaphone with the Crossfires - later to become the Turtles. He is now a professor.

  • In some interview they mentioned that this song was influenced by Jim Morrisson, especially the phrasing at the end of the song.

  • this is sex music

  • mmmm boska !!

  • Oh man, this takes me back to listening to Dan Ingram on WABC 77..........especially when he was playing the Top 100 Songs of 1969. DAN INGRAM! Ding!

  • creeper

  • whats up with that fat dude he just gets all close and makes weird faces whats he even in the band for he looks like that fat dude off accepted and knocked up and forgetting sarah marshall

  • Hes a back up singer. :-P

  • This Video was a trip! Wow I really enjoyed it and that era of time.

  • I remember salt n peppa doing a version of this song, it was cool

  • Are you Verdiez, Arnon?

  • magical

  • More of a 'psychedelic' Turtles.

  • Clean cut,uh, all American guys... phew... not too difficult too understand that the front two ended up singing with FranK Zappa and the Mothers. Great song, well done.

  • like the curly hair is kinda creepin me out how hes all standing next to the lead singer

  • I find that sooo funny. He has the goofiest smile on his face too.

  • lol yeah its odd though

  • Yeah, just standing there. Every once and a while singing something. Pretty creepy.

  • lol totally

  • I have an old headshot of Robin Williams from 1979. I gaze at it while listening to this song.

  • my dad makes me play this song for him and my mom. I'm not happy with this arrangement. I always here this song! It's like it's haunting me! Ir's OKAY but once you hear for 1,000 times, you start to think it's the lamest song ever.

  • the byrds recorded a jangly version of this as a demo before their 1st lp; don't think they ever performed it again. later, when mcguinn was playing it for these guys, all they had in the room was an old pump organ so he had to slow it down. the organ produced chords like you hear at the beginning of this track and the turtles liked it and recorded this creepy/gorgeous ethereal version. one of their best!

  • you can find the Byrds version of You showed Me on their Pre-Flight(flyte?) album. I've noticed several videos "skip" like this one does. Why is that? I'm new to U2B and think it's "GROOVY" haha. If you young folks want to know what the 60's were like...this is the stuff we were watching back then.

  • We know all about it, Grandpa!

  • Isn't there a part of the story where mcGuinn said, It will be a little faster when you record it but right now I can only play it at the tempo the organ lets me. But then the turtles said, No, its great as a slow song. we'll record at a slower tempo.

  • Flo could have at least got that joker straightened! Maybe not enough pomade in the world I guess....

  • Freaking great setting...all soo beautiful

  • OMG, It's Pat!!!!!

  • HA HA HA!!!!!! PAT!! LMFAO! I gotta pee! :0

  • i loooovve to drummer, johnny barbata!! he taught my big brother the drums!!

  • What show is this taken from? Was there a Turtles special?

  • so psychedellic, even without the lsd you can go tripping high with this song. long live the sixties.

  • TY for posting this! I have the cover done by The Lightning Seeds, but The Turtles are so fantastically fun.

  • The Lightning Seeds used this music, supposedly 'sampled' but they seem to have played this song all the way thru, just sang over it.

  • Reminds me of the "Now Explosion".... remember that show? WPIX in new York Sat. nights

  • THE NOW EXPLOSION,WOW!WE GOT IT FROM ATL.CHANNEL 17,TED TURNERS STATION!IT WAS THE 1st TIME SOMETHING WAS ON ALL NIGHT.SOME CAN STILL BE FOUND! JUST PUT IN 'NOW EXPLOSION" PEOPLE ARE BEGGING FOR DVDS OF THIS SHOW!
