Top Gear is only entertaining because it's farcical. When you drive a C63 AMG, the Black mountains don't warp and melt or quake or whatever.

In actual fact, a old VW Polo would probably give more drama because of the bumpy ride! The only difference would be the engine noises, but Top Gear just act as a 2nd PR associate.

Fifth Gear is simply awesome simply because its real. What you see is definitely what you will get. They even don't test the top trim level of some models.

Being that I'm an auto tech,Benz is the better car.Bimz are nice but they have loud exhaust for no reason and they squeak earlier than a Benz ever would and their drying is awful not that Benz is much better.plus AMG will always beat any M Series never mind a Brabus which have over 750hp

The reality is that a Mercedes is not anymore comfortable than any mid-price American or even Japanese car. Indeed, Mercedes are great cars but as far as comfort goes, they have never meant anything special or too different from a BMW.

Just traded in my BMW X5.8 a very fast car for E-550 sport, was concern about the speed first, but the E-550 is certainly has the speed and the handling of just about any car in this price range and MORE.., the sport seats and the larger engine is what you want the rest is dust on the road ... have fun

I think its more than adequate really. Its definitely not as fast as an Audi A6 3.0T or BW 535i but it is faster than the 528 and A6 3.2. Of course you could get the E550 and that's supposed to be the fastest in its class.

@marshknute There was a recall that mine suffered from a few months ago. The car didn't recognize the remote at all but the dealer took it in and took care of it without charge. It was annoying, but other than that there hasn't been anything wrong with it.

the front and side view of the e class is ok but the rear view is unacceptably boring, it resembles the new nissan maxima a bit, iv never liked the styling of the previous e class and this e class isnt much better in my oppinion, many people think that the 5 series is too revolutionary, but i like it like that, you dont have to be over 60 to drive one. the e class is still an old persons car.

Mercedes E Class cars have true understated elegance. Also it is extremely comfortable . That is why people want it as a plush Taxi. Nothing wrong with that. Chris Bangle's BMW 5 series design is fabulously beautiful and exciting to look at. Bangle has now left BMW unfortunately. The new 5 series saloon will be interesting when it appears. As a business car the E Class would be better. I saw a new black E Class and they do look nice being driven on the road normally.

I am a big fan of the traditional car reviews done on Fifth Gear. The one on the C6 Citroen with the shooting of the tyres and General de Gaulle, the new C5 Citroen, The IS 220D Lexus and the comic one on James Bond's blue Mondeo. i also really loved when Tiff Needle tested the M5 BMW in France. He is a fantastic driver !!!!
