They should go back to having only two or three episodes a week. Putting out five episodes a week dilutes the quality, but it wont happen, corrie is too much of a cash cow for ITV.
@stevenjackson1958 Me too, the character of Hilda Ogden wouldn't work now in the 21st century, she's much thing of the past from that great generation of Corrie.
Has anyone got the clip where the wonderful Annie Walker tackles Eddie Yeates in the Rovers about the bin men being on strike and her bins not being emptied? - it's a classic piece
It's a shame they stopped showing the old episodes on Granada Plus which doesn't exist anymore. I think they started at the very beginning but these episodes stopped showing by the time they reached the early 90s. It would take a while to catch up if they started showing from 1960 again!
I totally agree with you there, although i havent watched it for over a year, it is lacking 'real' characters like these now. It just seems to be daft teenagers acting 10 years older than they are and they just seem to be casting people who 'look good' nah Coronation street has lost it.
Annie Walker..
..the Margaret Thatcher of Salford.

@aeronuk1 I agree they should defintly cut down, maybe get rid of the Thursday episode and just have two double episodes on Monday and Friday.

This was when Coronation Street was good.
I'm glad Jean Alexander refuses to come back to the show now, it has become ridiculous with ludicrous storylines.
How many more mass-murderers are going to show up in the same street !

Great scene between two of Corrie's all time greats.

Two of the best characters ever to appear
in the history of the street.Hard to believe that this programme has been entertaining us for 50 years.

They should bring back Hilda back! She's still alive, although she's surely getting on now.

The actress who plays her, Jean Alexander, said the state of the programme has gotten so bad, she refuses to return.

You rarely get scenes like this on Coronation Street now, mores the pity.
