I know old people from different parts of my country that where around during WW2 and none talk like that.

Although slang has defo change since then.

Could they not have just hired an Irish actor?!?!

Instead they get some cabbage that can do your stereotypical Irish accent which is actually more like a mix of a Cork, posh Dublin and Northern Irish accent.
