  • She don't half give me the horn.

  • I love when she's rolling on the floor screaming GATOR!! NO!! and tearing out her hair. HAHAHA!!!

  • By the time Waters gave Massey a character with dark motivations -Carlotta in Desperate Living- it was too late. By then, Waters' loyal followers had entirely caught on to the warm humanity in Edie, undisguised no matter how bizarre the circumstances of any part she played. Like all the Dreamlanders, she made herself a focused, thorough professional, and as in the case of Divine, her too-soon departure stings and aches to this day.

  • 0:39 xD Little Taffy! Hare Hare Krishna <3

  • Genius. I couldn't agree with you more!

  • One of the moments that def changed my life for the better was the first time I saw Edie in Female Trouble fondling her breasts and dressed in her black lace up. I remember thinking "are there REALLY people out there like this? Is this REAL?" After that, I decided to explore outside of my comfort zone and FIND OUT! I've never been the same since lol.

  • XoXo :) I like her best in Desperate Living.

  • Last year I saw a woman on the #1 bus in SF that was her identical twin. She kept smiling at me and nodding her head. I wanted to say something to her, but felt like she'd disappear like the ghost she must have been. She grew up in that part of town. Down to the teeth, weight/body, height, hair- a dead ringer.

  • Dawn you son of a bitch!

  • Queers are just better!

  • damn she has big tits!!

  • I wish I had been able to meet her or see her with her band.

  • I'd be so happy if you was a fag and had a nice beautician boyfriend. I'd never have to worry. The world of heterosexual is a sick and boring life.

  • funniest lady that ever lived. hands down.

  • Fabulous!

  • My personal favorite Edie scene is Aunt Ida's meltdown in Female Trouble. The whole scene starting her conversation with Ernie to her screaming in the street go to Dawn's house is brilliantly funny. I was hysterical laughing 22 years ago when I first saw it.

  • @UandMeKid "This is for your FACE, motherf---er!"

  • @UandMeKid I agree one hundred percent. That scene is the John Waters-equivalent of Scarett O'Hara's "I'll never be hungry again!"

  • I think my favorite Edith Massey line is when she said, "Purr Francine. Purr, purr Francine." in Polyester.

  • @onemidnightgone "Oh, Franceeny, you're the drinkingest gal I ever did see!"

  • "Do you think you could make me a hydrogen bomb? Can you make me one of those?"

  • Lovely work, but what happened to "Hey Stupid! Hey Ugly! You got your clothes on backwards! HAHA This is SO MUCH FUN!!"

    ??????

  • THANKS for posting this!! yeah she was hilarious! I liked her best in Polyester but shes funny in all John 's films!

  • "...MEAT...AND PA-TAYTAS!

  • Fabulous vid! Thoroughly enjoyed it:)

  • OMgooness...

  • HI stupid!! HI UGLY...Ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!

  • awesome :) i love the song playing in the background, what's it called?

  • @hardcoresuperstar6 Underwater - The Frogmen :)

  • "IM YOUR ROYAL HIGHNESS AND I DEMAND THAT YOU ADDRESS ME AS SUCH"

  • John Samuels

  • I love the eddie sweetie eddie :D

  • "Here's something fur your face mother-fucker"....... Oh Mr. Egg man... I love you!

  • My fascination with her has not in the least bit waned in some 30+ years now. She's simply one of a kind, never, ever to be replaced.... Edie (Schmeedie!!) = Truly- one for the Ages!!

Great and succinct montage BTW- which so intersects with much of what I might have submitted from her 'canon'!

  • remenber those days!

  • love it so much, thank-you !!!!!

  • "I just use common sense -I mean, if they're smart they're queer, and if they're stupid they're straight"

  • LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL loved it Edie Schmedie Hedie aaaahahahahahah

  • god fucking bless baltimore

  • Classic! a true icon and diva! a role model for all the misfit queers like me

  • Who could ask for a finer teacher!

  • I'm an absolute fan of these women and pre-serial mother films of John Waters... This actress is so fucking sexy !!! Thanks for this vid'

  • I also love her music. "Hey punx, get off the grass!"

  • I'll never understand why I find her so GD funny in John Waters' movies. She didn't even have to try. Cinematic history!

  • You made Gator leave!! I got somethin for your face, MOTHERFUCKER!!!!

  • Oh god I miss Edith, so funny!!!! One of the nicest people I've met.

  • She is the best!! I love the scence where Divine throws the fish out of the window and hits her in the head, Edith then empties the garbage into the river. I want to live in that neighbourhood!! Fuck the boring joint where I am living at the moment (Sydney Australia).

  • NO I DON'T WANT NO GODDAMN EGGS! I WANT MEAT AND "PATAHTAHS"!!!! best movie line ever!!!

  • BBW

  • <3<3<3

  • this was posted the day before my 17th Birthday! LOVE EDIE!!!!

  • I also love the scene from Polyester when she's squeezing herself into the gown...with the audibly ripping seams as she proclaims "God-DAMN these designers!"

  • hahahahaha ai love tha t scene too!!! - HOH , A HALSTON! . HOW CARANT!, THI PLACE IS GLAMUROUS!

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

  • @tedzodd And then says to Francine, "We should have gone straight to Peck and Peck". And then Divine (Francine) vomits in her handbag because she is so hungover - just LOVE it. Wrong on all levels but one of my all time favourites.

  • @tedzodd love that scene. May have to add that into my next collage of clips of hers!

  • @tedzodd awesome stuff.

  • Eddie, rest in peace you beautiful soul....

  • I LOVE her!

  • REAL JOY . THANKS

  • She's the greatest. I've gotta poop now.

  • thank you so much for knitting these gems together. I think I'll go have some sherry and listen to records.

Edith Massey is way to fab for you.

  • I tried to make my own little john waters mash. These people practically raised me.

  • I LOVE HEEEEEER ♥

  • SEIZE HER AND FUCK HER! Edith is truly a goddess among actresses

  • LOL I'm gonna pretend I didn't just read that hahah...she is awesome isn't she? If only I were as hawt as Aunt Ida.....;)

  • AWESOME compilation, Criegger! Excellent work putting together our Miss Edie's finest, funniest moments! She was so beautiful and lovable and forever fabulous. When the universe made her, it broke the mold!

  • I love Queen Carlotta.

Hi Stupid! Hi Ugly! HA, HA! Your clothes are on backwards! Dig for gold, dig for gold!

  • Edith ROCKS!!! Great video btw 8^)

  • I LOVE YOU EDITH YOUR THE BEST!!

  • she's amazing!

  • Thanks for making this.

She was so cute...Aunt Ida, Queen Carlotta, Edie the Egg Lady and my favorite, Cuddles the socialite millionaire from Polyester.

  • that was beautiful

  • the clip of edith massey flipping the bird and sticking her tongue out in female trouble is my favorite part of any john waters movie.. or any movie at all.

  • yeah that is a good part. That woman has kept me laughing. There are like two movies of hers that I havent seen yet. Maybe if I see them I can create a ultimate collection

  • "If theyre smart theyre queer, if theyre stupid theyre straight"

  • you are awesome for giving this beautiful gift to Edie fans everywhere!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!

  • Queen Carlotta <3

  • let me outta this goddamn birdcage! LOLOLOL

  • Edith Massey is wonderful!!! Her best line, however, comes from Polyester when she says, "I hear every word that this scag says, and I'll testify in court."

  • "You need to get out more honey and forget your silly nilly problems."

  • And the monotone way she delivers her lines!!!! Priceless.

"I can't go one more day undecided about my debutante gown."

  • "But Cuddles...you're too old to be a debutante. Just because you inherited all that money doesn't mean you are suddenly socially prominent."

  • oh man, ur the best for making this

  • fabulous!

  • very nice!she was such a beauty lol

  • Most excellently done on your part! Great montage.... Ahh- Edie....She will forever hold a special, special place in my heart. Unique in every way, and utterly inimitable. We love and miss her!

  • YOU ARE INTERRUPTING MY FLOW OF POWER

  • I LOVE her! You should put some clips of her as Cuddles XD

  • Edith Massey should have gotten a lifetime achievement Oscar.

  • Thank you!

  • this is the greates video i ever seen here , i love her, you are great thanks fot this video! xoxo luverdude* and you were mising -!hoh a Halston!, !Damn These designers! haha

  • Well done !! I was fortunate enough to meet Edie a few times in the 80's and saw her in concert at the Whiskey in L.A. and she could'nt have been nicer! I miss her too.....

  • I fell a bit of a connection to her and the rest of the actors in these films since they were all filmed in my birth town of Baltimore!

  • @girpo I saw her in NYC in the early 80s at CBGB. She was all in black, with black jeans held together by a giant safety pin. Her back-up band was called "The Incredible Edible Eggs." I can only remember two of the songs she did-- "Disco is dead and I'm glad! Everybody pogo!" and "Baby's dead. She got run over by a truck. Now nothing's left of baby but her hair and her feet!"

  • @girpo you lucky one!!! We as watchers genuinely know she was great

  • Cool video, whats the name of the song in the background?

  • It's actually the background track from one of the movies that I just looped over and played as the background music for this tribute so I'm not quite sure. But aint it cool!

  • the song is "underwater" by the frogmen

  • me too great

  • omg i love edith massey. truly the funniest woman on film hahaha. unforgettable

  • Omg you are such a freak...I used to love watching these john waters films and I miss Divine.

  • You bet I am. There is so much more to me besides hey I lost three pounds LOL. Seriously though since I went to nights I watch a John Waters film each night Im off. I guess I fell a connection to him and his films because were both from Baltimore. And I think my next tribute film will be for Divine. I miss Divine too!

  • nice compilation.
