I'm not entirely sure America is ready for that sort of approach - though it could certainly work in theory. When you're a kid, you play with others regardless of race because you don't learn racial categories until you're much older...Freeman has an interesting point: why learn them in the first place?

That's exactly how it should be. We will never be able to truly get over the idea of people being different colors unless we first begin to know them for the man or woman that they are, and decide to not define them by the color of their skin but by the actions of their character. This goes both ways though. Whites, blacks, and any other color of people must be able to make this decision together in order for it to work.
