at 1:33-1:34 it almost goes into Heartless from Heart...which I would assume now was a riff based off the Beatles anyway...but when I heard it at first I was thinking...whoa that's even a different band they are even meshing in.
I hear Jimi Hendrix with the guitar riff after the 'hey!'. Can someone tell me what Jimi Hendrix song that has the 0:33 riff, or am I wrong and just imagining it all.
I love these Beatles parodies, and some of these songs are so good I wish the accrual Beatles made them. :P
The lick from "Yer Blues," the "Everybody Had a Hard Year" portion of "I've Got a Feeling," "I Me Mine" alteration of dynamics with the "Hey" from "The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill" and some "Get Back" drum thrown in, instrumental portion of "Yer Blues," and the end "Helter Skelter" shout, "I've got a soddin' camp in me pinky!"
Everything else feels generally of the period. The electric piano sound ("Cry Baby Cry" perhaps), the Phil-Spector insertion of strings. Etc.
@SonofMrPeanut After the first HEY! it goes into "Any time at all" Then "Get Back" But then goes into "I Me Mine" or "Revolution" with the Drums of "Helter Skelter"
Don't forget Yer Blues. I think it's pretty evident. And I think lyrically the verses resemble the "Everybody Had a Hard Year" portion of I've Got a Feeling.
@ywba I dont hear "Mean Mr. Musterd", But I Hear "You've Got To Hide Your Away" slightly in the slower parts, Before the rock part starts The drum resembles "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds"and it has the set up of "I Me Mine" Slow with orchestra into rock (This case parioding a mix of "Helter Skelter" and i think "Revolution")
@SgtRuttersClubBand I was mentioning Mean Mr. Mustard because of the descending chords after the lyrics "Hey!" which also appears in MMM after the lines "sleeps in a hole in the road", "takes him out to look at the queen", etc. but it's not likely that they made this song with this in mind :P
@ywba i accualy now think the "Hey!" and the drum before it comes from "The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill" and yeah, i do hear "mean mr.m" after that.
Do you think we are all mad?

Funnily enough, I've always heard it as Norwegian Wood!

I just always kind of assumed the entire thing was meant as a "Bungalow Bill" parody, but now it seems there's more to it...

This is a great song. I would love it even if it weren't a brilliant parody.

This song is more a parody of You've Got To Hide Your Away, with elements from Mean Mr, Mustard...

@ywba Well..... I hear these songs being used for this one
"I Me Mine" (obviously)
"Mean Mr. Mustard"
"Helter Skelter"
"Get Back" (at one point during the chorus you can hear a similar drums pattern like the one that was used in "Get Back")
I also hear "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" (because of the drums in there)
Of course that is just me, and I can be wrong...
