I was priveliged to actually work with Jim Casey and Eli (whose real name is Jackie Casey, by the way) in 2000 when they did this sketch as part of a variety bill we put together, as part of a festival in Morecambe. The third man in the act was none other than Mike Craig - he was truly wonderful - they all were - and it is one of my true high spots, which I'll never forget. I've also seen them do it at City Varieties, Leeds and the Spa in Scarborough. Hope I get the chance to see it again.
@PadSpin - Jimmy James had two stooges in this sketch, known by the stage names Bretton Woods and Hutton Conyers. This was a joke: one was the name of a town in the USA, the other was a place in England. Bretton Woods gradually came to be known as Eli Woods, and was played so often by Jimmy's nephew, Jack Casey, that it became Jack's stage name. Jack, or Eli if you prefer, always played Eli Woods; he never played Hutton Conyers. Conyers is the idiot holding the box.
These comedians really knew their craft. An absolute joy. I would love to see more of Jimmy James and Eli. His timing in the same sketch with Roy Castle is in my opinion even better.
Fantastic comedy...Ive never seen this one before although i've seen the other ones done with Roy Castle and also James Casey taking the part of Jimmy James...all have me in stitches :))

This was taken from Channel 4's celebration of 30 years of ITV back from 1985. Great clip though

Roy Castle was better at 'playing daft' than Hutton Conyers, IMHO.
Eli (Bretton) was Jimmy's nephew in real life and the stutter was genuine.
