@kasumisman Here's the thing Sherlock: I didn't use blur too much, I didn't use it At All ! This was my very first attempt at digital painting and I didn't even know what blur was. Look closely and you will see no blurring at all. See how I started the face nervously and learn't and improved as I went. I used a basic brush and only smudged. It took me about 40 hours and I was stabbing around in the dark. It was also the first time I'd used screen recording software. Thanks for the comment.

So you figured out to put on an effect on fabrik (tanktop) by starting up nervously and improving like that, you just found out how to do the lightning like that on your first time,....Hmmmmmmkay?this is a comment, not a war declaration. so there is no need for having a verbal beatdown.Im quite sure you very good in drawing. but come on...?
@Anyhero40 Believe it. It's true. I'm not crazy. Watch carefully, you will see that nothing fancy happens. I only used a standard round brush and smudged. No blur. That's all. There is no effect used on the tanktop. I painted every single shadow, rib, and line by hand. Tanktop Ribs are painted Yellow so I could select them and adjust their colour and tone. The ONLY effect I used was at the end when I put a Blue tinge all around him. I used a few layers but thats basic. Thank you, Keep well.

@kasumisman working the smudge tool against the rules of digital painting? Is there a smudge-o-meter that goes off when you have used it 'too much'? If you want to enlighten him in another method that he may enjoy that is one thing, but to be smug about your critiques is uncool. First thing I ever learned about art is where the beauty is... and it isn't in the eye of the beholder if the beholder isn't paying for it.

Hey Buddy, thanks. there are others better than this if you look around. About the veins: First I painted a veins guide on a new layer, so I could switch it off later. Then on another new layer I painted them carefully. Then I could adjust the opacity of the painted veins layer so that they weren't to bold or harsh. Here's the crazy thing; This was my absolute first digital painting, yet you rate it tops. Thanks a million. Take Care, Roman.

This is so good! It looks even better than a picture, you've got everything just right! I could never draw a human like that, I draw animals really good and everything but I can't seem to draw humans, but even in my animal drawings I can't draw half as good as that! draw that with some pencils and i am impressed i dont know a hate that everyone is using these sloppy programms everyone can be an artist with a sense of atonomie and some programm painting skills... hate it i stay with my rubber and my pencil it may not look as realistic and fantastic as this one but i stay real and true and i can make a little piece of art for my own without coming anywhere close a pc
@victorponteable i came to this video because it looked interesting , and i liked it but in my opinion it isnt all that great when you draw something with pc i saw his other videos and i liked them , he is way better then i will ever be but , as i said its my opinion and i dont like these pc paintings, so why shouldnt i write what i think , hm ? i think i have a right to say what i think and i dindt mean to offend someone, and i am sure roman wasnt offended because he is a great artist.
@MrDupiDupi1 fyi - you still need a great deal of skill to draw using a tablet/pc program... I can't draw for shit and no matter how hard I try, no matter what program I use... it just doesn't happen. The only program i can use is illustrator - and even with that i just trace the images... so i totally cheat in that sense. =/
@MrDupiDupi1 - Shame, MrDupiDupi1. If you are truly an artist you should know this already: The computer/software/tablet is just another tool. It isn't the tool, it is the artist! I've been taking art classes for nearly half of my life and yet can't even touch the author skills, software or no software. Yes, GIMP/Photoshop/whatever allows you to cut corners and make corrections more easily than otherwise would be possible but it will not draw for you!
@MrDupiDupi1 actually i agree with mr dupi its not the same at all. knowing you can draw this on a piece of paper feels like you achieved so much and have a sense on trying new things so you have your own art style and get alex ross famous. not from clicking. from the start it makes you a awesome artist from the relief of alll the non reality struggles of an pencil artist.

Also, he didn't simply state he disapproved of digital media, he said he hated it and came across as discrediting the artform, which is a stupid and idiotic thing to do. I think if you read the majority of comments on this I'm not alone in standing up for digital art. And it isn't easier at all to paint on paper. How do you even say something like that? @MrDupiDupi1 I also prefer old-school pencil and rubber, but what amazes me about this picture is that it is made in Gimp. Almost all of the good Pics are done with Photoshop or SAI, but there are hardly any good GIMP pics, which is sad, because it's as powerful as PS, just not as easy to use. Programms don't make you an artist: Light/Shadow and Colors are important aspects. B/W has only a palette from black to white, but there are far more colors. To apply them correctly is an art in itself.
Times change and that obviously includes the way people create art. You can try and be and artist with a sense of atonomie using your rubber and pencil whilst i stay real and true and use my crushed berrys and mud on a cave wall and create a little peice of art of my own without coming anywhere close to a pencil. Grow up!
the great thing about art is that it is free, and it just doesn't matter in wich medium you create it, it still ART, and it's unique and has no boundaries, that's what makes it beautiful.
good job to roman, being an illustrator is not easy at all, it takes a lot of time commitment and practice, although it is a hard path you made IT!!, this wolverine is awesome keep it comming because i wanto to see some more!!. great work.

draw that with some pencils and i am impressed i dont know a hate that everyone is using these sloppy programms everyone can be an artist with a sense of atonomie and some programm painting skills... hate it i stay with my rubber and my pencil it may not look as realistic and fantastic as this one but i stay real and true and i can make a little piece of art for my own without coming anywhere close a pc

@victorponteable i came to this video because it looked interesting , and i liked it but in my opinion it isnt all that great when you draw something with pc i saw his other videos and i liked them , he is way better then i will ever be but , as i said its my opinion and i dont like these pc paintings, so why shouldnt i write what i think , hm ? i think i have a right to say what i think and i dindt mean to offend someone, and i am sure roman wasnt offended because he is a great artist.

@MrDupiDupi1 fyi - you still need a great deal of skill to draw using a tablet/pc program... I can't draw for shit and no matter how hard I try, no matter what program I use... it just doesn't happen. The only program i can use is illustrator - and even with that i just trace the images... so i totally cheat in that sense. =/

@MrDupiDupi1 - Shame, MrDupiDupi1. If you are truly an artist you should know this already: The computer/software/tablet is just another tool. It isn't the tool, it is the artist! I've been taking art classes for nearly half of my life and yet can't even touch the author skills, software or no software. Yes, GIMP/Photoshop/whatever allows you to cut corners and make corrections more easily than otherwise would be possible but it will not draw for you!

@MrDupiDupi1 actually i agree with mr dupi its not the same at all. knowing you can draw this on a piece of paper feels like you achieved so much and have a sense on trying new things so you have your own art style and get alex ross famous. not from clicking. from the start it makes you a awesome artist from the relief of alll the non reality struggles of an pencil artist.

@MrDupiDupi1 Excuse me but I'm a professional artist that uses a Cyber Tablet and Photoshop for nearly 100% of my work and don't you even dare try discredit me as a "real artist" either, I've worked in mediums you wouldn't have even heard of boy.
The program isn't drawing for them the talent and know how has to still be there and just because you draw with Pencil and Paper you are no better so stop talking like it.
Give different mediums a chance instead of being a child that hates to much.

Also, he didn't simply state he disapproved of digital media, he said he hated it and came across as discrediting the artform, which is a stupid and idiotic thing to do. I think if you read the majority of comments on this I'm not alone in standing up for digital art. And it isn't easier at all to paint on paper. How do you even say something like that? @MrDupiDupi1 I also prefer old-school pencil and rubber, but what amazes me about this picture is that it is made in Gimp. Almost all of the good Pics are done with Photoshop or SAI, but there are hardly any good GIMP pics, which is sad, because it's as powerful as PS, just not as easy to use. Programms don't make you an artist: Light/Shadow and Colors are important aspects. B/W has only a palette from black to white, but there are far more colors. To apply them correctly is an art in itself.

Times change and that obviously includes the way people create art. You can try and be and artist with a sense of atonomie using your rubber and pencil whilst i stay real and true and use my crushed berrys and mud on a cave wall and create a little peice of art of my own without coming anywhere close to a pencil. the great thing about art is that it is free, and it just doesn't matter in wich medium you create it, it still ART, and it's unique and has no boundaries, that's what makes it beautiful.
good job to roman, being an illustrator is not easy at all, it takes a lot of time commitment and practice, although it is a hard path you made IT!!, this wolverine is awesome keep it comming because i wanto to see some more!!. great work.
