Hmmm...they were so innovative back when I was in college.  Then there was "Shiny Happy People" and a bunch of other crap. This album is one of the greatest ever made. It is a shame that they sold out to mediocrity.

@IlliniJake I think selling out is a danger alot of bands face hey look what happened to the Eagles talk about a sell out! They used to be good but they stayed too long and NOW THEY SUCK! The Beatles quit on top very smart. The good thing is we still have alot of really good REM songs to listen to over and over ...this being one of them.REM is a really great band.

Hey, speak for yourself about The Eagles, man. "Long Road Out Of Eden" is by far their best album. These guys are actually better than before and continue to progress. Just because Walmart now sells their albums, doesn't mean they've sold out. Listen to that latest album again, you're bound to find a handful of masterpieces, such as the title track.

I remember thinking this was the best song REM had ever done. Then one day I saw an interview with Michael Stipe. During that interview he said this was also *his* favorite REM song. What I got from that "connection" was that, *whatever* this song is about, I must "get it." Since that moment I try not to concern myself with what their lyrics mean, as much as what they mean to me.

I don't know about other songs on this channel, but this one definitely sounds slowed down. Not a LOT slower, but enough that it's noticeable and not in a good way.

@foxkieran They do this because the greedy corporate nazis like EMI, Vevo, and Warner all come on YouTube and make people take down videos w/ their music. Even though the poster is not out to make money! If it is slowed down a tick, it is harder for them to find.

I guess they think they'll make more money if you watch it on their pages and endure their banners and commercials.

Boycott any EMI, Vevo, and WMG videos.
