@natnrobyn4eva in western a lot of people don't wear helmets. Also, the horse was on a lead read, and there was like two or three people there making sure she was ok. It looked pretty safe to me. The horse big, but it's on a lead rein, so she has no control, the people leading it have all the control, therefore it's pretty safe.
@stardustmypony true, but I'm sure they've picked a bomb proof horse. Especially for a girl as young as that. And if you approach horse riding with such a 'what if' attitude, it's pointless. Any horse could buck or rear, but we have to give them credit. Anything's possible, and nothing did happen to this girl so what does it matter?
Oh! I see now. My mistake. The girl in the kindergarten videos that the camera is focusing on is not Richelle, that girl has a green shirt and straight brown hair. Richelle is in one of them very briefly in the back, with red curly hair, right? I had just assumed that she would be the one the camera is focusing on.
You ride western! cool! I ride english. that horse is pretty! one of mine looks like that! how old is your little girl!! LOL she's cute riding that big horse. :)
i know a five year old girl that rides a 16.4 hand horse completely by herself. she can lope and helps herd cows and everything. as long as the child can control the horse it can never be too big
@4evadressage it's on a lead rein, so it's not like the horse can overpower her, seeing as she isn't the one controling it. Also, there's 2 or 3 people there to make sure that doesn't happen.
@stardustmypony but it didn't...And that kind of 'what if' attitude is never gonna go well with equestrianism. It's a dangerous sport. With or without helmets. With helps, yes, and I always wear one, but it's the riders choice, and in this case, the parents/guardians obviously trust the horse enough to let her ride without a helmet.
I realize my horse is fat and we have been working with the vet to manage her weight. she gets trims every 6 weeks and we are doing blood work. Thank you for your concern :)
Thank you very much for all your concern:) the video is 3 years old and it was a very implusive lesson ( I had just finished my lesson and the instructor offered to put her on for a minute ) She does have a helmet and a saddle that fits now ( 10 ") and a horse which is at her riding level.
SERIOUSLY?! FIRST LESSON AND NO HELMET?! :(

@RammsteinRoesli yes but the horse could still buck or rear, which a person on a lead rein cant exactly stop...

@RammsteinRoesli even so if the horse triped over she could still fall off, also if the horse bucks or any thing she will most likely hit the deck...
