Ah yes, and SHAME on all of you WWU students who have already treated me with anything less than respect. WE are among you. Get over it. Love doesn't require you to agree with an ideology.
A university has responsibility to help ensure that all of its students feel safe and accepted, because when students are not accepted and when students do not feel safe, they do not do well in school. Ethically, schools and colleges need to ensure all students are safe and accepted. The source of health concerns in the GLBT community is due to societal oppression, not to being GLBT. Higher health risks are present when there is no support. Prayers with you!
As a WWU Alum, and an out lesbian, it is gratifying to see this type of support being shown to students regardless of their sexual orientation. LGBT young people need support and love so that they know that being genuine, living honestly, and making healthy relationship choices is all we should want of them regarding their sexual orientation, gay, straight or otherwise.
I am glad to see that there is a group that is out to help the WWU gays and lesbian crowd. I am worried by the type of help they are giving them. Gay/lesbian lifestyle(sin) leads to a 30% higher chance of depression and suicidal tendencies, 40% higher substance abuse and a shorter lifespan than average. We need to point them to Jesus who can be there ultimate healing (freedom from sin) and not encourage them to indulge a lifestyle that only leads to depression etc. Please reply instead of delete
@whoisclarke Just because the depression and suicide rate among LGBT people may be higher (if indeed your figures are accurate) does not automatically mean that the cause is the "sin" of homosexuality in itself. The greater sin is the beastly violence and inexcusable hatred displayed by insecure people which makes no gay/lesbian's journey any easier in a homophobic world. Selfish sexual acts of violation tied to pagan idol worship cannot fairly be equated with true love.
