love to know how the hell they ever worked with just them 2 little lights either side and always get it so perfect , oh yeah and a banging tune first saw the live at a v festival in chelmsford the best live band ever
Just a question 4 u , what do orbital do on stage as Tension dont sound to much different from the album version. so how much is them or how much is just the Hartnolls nodding their heads waving hands and touching what looks like a mixing desk , so how much of a live Orbital gig, is emperors new clothes
good question. paul (who faces left of the stage) has a series of sequencers, with each individual track/instrument pre-programed, and running in a loop (ie, bass drum-hi hat-snare-bass line etc) He can trigger the sounds off in any given random order, creating a diffrent song "structure" every night if he wants.
Phil (who faces the crowd) has a mixing desk, and is able to "shape" and "pan" each instrument/sound that his brother is triggering.
To many people this would not be considered live, but in the "dance music" world, where the majority of "stars" are just DJ'S (who do fuck all but mix other peoples records together), orbital make a welcome alternative.
and the start is way longer then the album version think both paul and phil are using seqeuncers
