Don't believe me? Check the Bioware forum and see that devs have already confirmed that the reapers have created a variety of husks with one species being the rachni. Either what, you're fighting them in ME3. Don't worry your ass though, I'm sure they'll give you the option to save them AGAIN.

@Aljeron100 You are correct. The Reapers, such as Harbinger & Sovereign/Nazara did indoctrinate the Rachni, to prepare for another galactic extermination of all organic life. So the 'Old Machines' would try again but that is why it is better to let her, the Queen here live and try to rebuild her people as well as rewriting the Heretic geth to rejoin the True Geth Collective, powerful allies to have in the galactic war to come in ME3.

@CompletelyAnonymous7 Good point authough Noveria was a major centre for R/D (mostly illegal in Council space) and therefore likely had a lot of through-traffic but the question of the Queen aquiring the ship without anyone noticing does stand. Maybe she found and possessed another Asari and got her to get a ship and come back to load her on board.
You'll need every advantage in the final showdown I think. Saving the rachni makes sense when you've seen what they done with themselves in the second game. Since they managed to bring the entire bloody galaxy to its knees before the krogan got involved I'd say they are a force to be reckoned with. Besides, they're bugs. Bugs lay like a thousand eggs each time they breed so the population growth is insane.
@slask25 I see it happen in Mass Effect 3: Krogan, Rachni, Turian, Salarian, Asari, Drell, Quarian, Geth, hanar, elcor , human and Batarian. All fighting along side, as the reaper fleets come through the Mass Relay to take control of the citadel, to repeat the cycle of genocide once more.
With the Normandy to lead the charge, and the most epic videogame OST ever, at the background.
i think that if you saved the GETH (mass effect 2), THE RACHNI QUEEN (masseffect), and tell the quarians not to go to war (mass effect 2) and have wrex leading the krogan it will help alot in mass effect 3!!!!
I let them live and wound up finding out that they are actually peaceful and could be allies in the end. I'm not going to ruin the whole side story, but I think it pays off if you let them live.
The rachni fought because they were controlled somehow not because they wanted. In ME 2 we learn that Rachni are not violent, but rather pacific and usually stay away from other species.
We will only see in ME3 if this is a good or a bad idea. Gotta partly agree with Wrex, millions of Krogan died so that the galaxy wouldn't be eaten alive.
@maledikt It would also be good for Krogans if the same thing were to repeats then the salarians would be forced to come up with a cure so Krogan would save the day again.

people play Para shep when they want to be heros.
looking at how the 2nd game is progressing id say the game designers had a bias towards para shep.
Missons are unlocked if you let people live, more obvious than that if you chose any other option at the end other than save the coucil the galaxy becomes a crapsack world with it all going out of contol, however saving them makes humans popular to the galaxy and its alittle better
One thing I'm not sure of, although its obvious that something was controlling the majority of the Rachni race during their war, is it safe to assume it was Sovereign trying to do some sort of double pronged attack along with the other reapers? Or perhaps trying to accoplish then what he attempts to do with the geth, i mean activating the citadel.
Then in ME2 I reprogrammed the Heretics and said to the Quarian admiralty board to go for peace with the geth. (Maybe The Quarians and the Geth can live on the same planet, I'm on Admiral Korris Line here). Wrex always survives in my playthroughs, and i save the genophage cure data (Wrex will need it).
I think these are the biggest decistions.
I don't know about you but it feels like one specie will backfire.
My me1 and mass effect 2 play through have been mainly paragon. But Wrex told me to kill her so I had no choice then I saw that in me2 that if you let them live she is all like "I haz army!!" Now I'm all like FUUUU.....
I think Wrex should think about it this way: the Krogan were given the Genophage after exterminating the Rachni. Wouldn't it be perfect if the Rachni attacked the galaxy again and the Krogan refused to help this time around? Lol

Rave755 is right about Shepard's amry. Cerberus and Alliance should also unite against the Reapers. Anderson and Illusive Man are men of action. To make all those races trust each other will be more difficult than to create that army.
One of the best moments in ME - which makes it one of the best moments in gaming altogether, i found myself really weighing the risks,counting pro's and con's for every decision, and that was even before i was aware of the fact that decisions in ME1 could have an influence on the next games.
5:10-5:17 thats the kinda squad interaction I want in Mass effect 3. I Mean really that whole seven secs was the only thing that we got close to seeing actual interaction based off of two characters back story, that Tali and Legion in ME2 but still i want more it could help unfold so much more in the story.
This may be kind of stupid of me, but just did Garrus mean when he says "genocide is one of the reasons we fought the krogan"? He seems to be generally against genocide here and not in favor of repeating it. So why would Wrex be offended and act like Garrus is being hypcritical? Is Garrus saying that the krogan were committing genocide and so had to be fought, making Wrex point out the irony that turians stopped just short of genocide themselves?
Garrus got ownt by his own faulty logic. "Genocide is one of the reasons we fought the Krogan--ah..." You can tell he wanted to finishg that off with 'ah, goddamnit. I just screwed myself.'
Just read this on the mass effect 2 wiki: If the Rachni Queen is killed, it will be revealed in a news report that data recovered from the Peak 15 facility on Noveria pointed to the cloning of rachni in the facility but none being found. Even though they didn't find any I kinda have a bad feeling about it....thank god i saved her in one of my games.
Story of Rachni Queen sound like Alexstrasza the Queen of Dragons one, her child are raised to be mindless warbeasts...thought being a queen would be more fun than this...
When I heard the Rachni's way of talking, everything is music to them, it was so creepy but at the same time so very beautiful. When I heard her speak I couldn't destroy her.

Come on. Shepard finally got data on the reapers (aka proof that they exist). Nether the Rachni nor the Geth would betray Shepard after what he has done for them. The Quarians are smart enough to figure which one is the real enemy (especially with the proof). And as for the Krogans, they're bloodthristy but they aren't stupid.
This is the perfect pair for this encounter. Wrex, representing the Krogan. Those who put down the Rachnai. Garrus representing the Turians, those who put down the Krogan. It's an angel on one shoulder and a devil on the other. But which is which. Thanks for uploading this.
Cant be sure about what happens in me3 maybe you flawlessly defeat the reapers but some message come upp and tell that after sheps death everyone goes crazy and the whole universe explodes :S

One thing I'm not sure of, although its obvious that something was controlling the majority of the Rachni race during their war, is it safe to assume it was Sovereign trying to do some sort of double pronged attack along with the other reapers? Or perhaps trying to accoplish then what he attempts to do with the geth, i mean activating the citadel.

I saved the Rachni Queen in ME1
Then in ME2 I reprogrammed the Heretics and said to the Quarian admiralty board to go for peace with the geth. (Maybe The Quarians and the Geth can live on the same planet, I'm on Admiral Korris Line here). Wrex always survives in my playthroughs, and i save the genophage cure data (Wrex will need it).
I think these are the biggest decistions.
I don't know about you but it feels like one specie will backfire.

My me1 and mass effect 2 play through have been mainly paragon. But Wrex told me to kill her so I had no choice then I saw that in me2 that if you let them live she is all like "I haz army!!" Now I'm all like FUUUU.....

I think Wrex should think about it this way: the Krogan were given the Genophage after exterminating the Rachni. Wouldn't it be perfect if the Rachni attacked the galaxy again and the Krogan refused to help this time around? Lol

Rave755 is right about Shepard's amry. Cerberus and Alliance should also unite against the Reapers. Anderson and Illusive Man are men of action. To make all those races trust each other will be more difficult than to create that army.

This may be kind of stupid of me, but just did Garrus mean when he says "genocide is one of the reasons we fought the krogan"? He seems to be generally against genocide here and not in favor of repeating it. So why would Wrex be offended and act like Garrus is being hypcritical? Is Garrus saying that the krogan were committing genocide and so had to be fought, making Wrex point out the irony that turians stopped just short of genocide themselves?

Just read this on the mass effect 2 wiki: If the Rachni Queen is killed, it will be revealed in a news report that data recovered from the Peak 15 facility on Noveria pointed to the cloning of rachni in the facility but none being found. Even though they didn't find any I kinda have a bad feeling about it....thank god i saved her in one of my games.

When I heard the Rachni's way of talking, everything is music to them, it was so creepy but at the same time so very beautiful. When I heard her speak I couldn't destroy her.

I saved the Genophage data, stopped Tali being banished, and saved Wrex.
My only fall was killing the Rachni Queen.
Which, if you consider the possibilities, may pay off.
Think about it, Krogan and Rachni fighting together? The Krogan will almost certainly turn on them. Same for the Quarians with the Geth.
You have to consider whether or not the "army" to fight the reapers will simply descend into infighting and chaos, to the Reapers' advantage.

Come on. Shepard finally got data on the reapers (aka proof that they exist). Nether the Rachni nor the Geth would betray Shepard after what he has done for them. The Quarians are smart enough to figure which one is the real enemy (especially with the proof). And as for the Krogans, they're bloodthristy but they aren't stupid.

In 2 she's like: "Hey thanks for saveing me, I got this whole kickass army waiting for when the reapers arive. Yep, thanks."
Not to mention saved wrex and united the krogan, reprogramed geth, saved tali from being banished, and saved the Genophage data.
God my ME3 character is going to have one hell of an army.

Well the Rachni want revenge against the Reapers for enslaving them in the first place. So if they DO rise up, its going to be after destroying the Reapers.
As for the Geth, I did what Legion thought best. I don't think anyone's going to have a problem with a few rouge Geth going back to being...er...Good?
